This video looks at the Rosemary Watercolour Pocket Brushes that I have. These travel pocket brushes are reversible or collapsible, making them very compact and convenient to bring around.

Hi Teoh! When I finish with my brushes for the day I clean them with "The Masters Brush Cleaner and Preserver" and then dip them in a gum Arabic solution to store them. It helps keep the point on them... It helps them last for years...

OK, convinced. I bought my first Rosemary & Co. brushes (linked from your site, of course) today! So excited... these will also be my first sables & my first collapsible brushes for travel, looking forward to realizing the difference. Thank you for your succinct and focused reviews and instruction videos. 🌊🖌

Thanks for the review! I've been eyeing this for a while as I've heard good things about their regular brushes. But I've been curious about the travel ones.

Thanks for showing these. I’ve been thinking about getting a few Rosemary brushes but was concerned about how useful they might be. Think I’ll go ahead and order a couple. 👍

+Jinhee Park That's great. Remember to dry them properly when you get back home. That small breather hole is not useful enough for ventilation.

Yes I will do that. I recently have been practically studying on your blog for Urbansketch and bought some books with the clicks on your blogs. Thank you so much for all the great reviews and information. You are an amazing artist with a kind soul.

Great stuff. I'm looking for travel brush and I've seen you use these. Love the pentel aqua brush but sometimes you want a dry brush. These look like the answer.

when I have worn out brushes I use a small bit of hair conditioner or baby shampoo to relax the brush hair and put it back to it's original shape

Thanks for this video teoh. I use daily 4 brushes, 2 Escoda and 2 Da vinci. For me, "amateur level", I don't make the difference between natural and synthetic hair.

I need to confess that almost everytime you review something, lateral I will crave for it, either WC sets, walnut ink, Bridgestone (like this time) ir whatever. I have learned from you many things that I hope Will ease me faster to a higher level sooner. Thanks.

Thanks for more great info! I've been looking at the Rosemary brushes for a long time & your review helped me make the decision to go ahead and purchase. Nice to know the squirrel is so good. Poor Red Squirrel population is really suffering, however, as the imported grey ones brought some disease with them that is killing off the reds. Now I have to wrestle with my conscience! Can you make a video on that? Just kidding... 🙂
@jennw6809
@jennw6809 2 года назад
Oh wow. Rosemary just told me squirrel hair has gone up by 700%. I had assumed it was "supply chain issues," but I guess the disease is why!!

Hi, Teoh. I noticed none of your pocket brushes has strained bristles. Any tips to avoid damaging them while putting the brush into the cap? Do you close them while wet and let them dry into the cap, for instance? All my pocket brushes end up with one or two damaged bristle.
@teohyc
@teohyc 7 лет назад
+Mauro Mello Just put them back slowly. It is easier to put them back when they are wet and have a sharp point. When at home, uncap them to dry properly.

I also have the size 6 travel brush by rosemaryandco..also the squirrel, That one has a great point and holding capacity. I am looking at a larger travel maybe R13, for USK Chicago. Thanks for the review. Btw are you going to review the portable painter? I just got mine...the metal clasp could be lost so I attached Velcro and can store on one of the water cups!

I'm not sure when I'll review the portable painter. I have to use it more extensively first before I form my opinion. But so far I'm liking it very much.

Thanks for the review. I ordered a squirrel mop brush from Rosemary after seeing you mention them in an earlier video. I like it. Certainly less expensive than some of the other brushes. Have you reviewed Isabey brushes? I have two of them and like them. They also have pocket brushes. Lastly, not sure if you use brush cleaners or not but I've had some luck refreshing my brushes back to a point by using a brush cleaner. I use Marvelous Marianne's brush cleaner. Might work on that brush you mentioned wasn't going to a point. Thanks again for your wonderful videos.
@teohyc
@teohyc 7 лет назад
I've not used Isabey before. I heard they are good. My brushes are too worn out to keep a sharp point anymore. I don't think the brush soap is going to work.

Very nice review. Do you use any synthetic brushes? If yes, which do you think are the best? I don't want to buy animal hair brushes for ethical reasons.

Escoda makes good synethic brushes. The Escoda Versatil watercolour brushes perform quite well. You can see my review at www.parkablogs.com/content/review-escoda-versatil-watercolour-brush

Hi Theo! Have you ever heard of MaiMeri Blu watercolors? they are categorized as professional watercolors and I have not tried them. However, I have tried their Venezia line, which is their more affordable, student brand. It is very hard to find reviews online as well as where they sell them(I found these at my local art store), but I was curious to see if you at least know them and perhaps hear your opinion on them? Thanks!

Hi - yes I have a question! How do you put your brushes back in their handles? I'm scared of damaging mine if I put them back damp, but if I let them dry out first then the hairs splay and some can get caught and damaged. Thanks!
@teohyc
@teohyc 7 лет назад
+Christine Kaltoft When outdoors, I keep the points wet and sharp and put the cap on. At home, I uncap to dry them. When I bring them out, if the hairs are spray, I use some water to sharpen the point and before capping it.
@prudencecottage
@prudencecottage 7 лет назад
Thanks! Just a little moisture to gather the hairs in then? Yes that's more or less what I'm doing!

Hey Teoh, great video as always! I wanted advice on growing my RU-vid, I'm an artist and sometimes do reviews along with other videos. u can't seem to get any views even though I think my videos have great content. any advice?
@teohyc
@teohyc 7 лет назад
Several things off the top of my head - Have several sections for your channel page. E.g. Home, Videos, Playlists, etc. See example ru-vid.com - JR is not your full name right? There will be more credibility if you put your full name and link to your website if any. - Read the articles I've written about RU-vid for artists at www.parkablogs.com/category/tags/youtube - Keep on producing video. It will be another six months to a year before you will see any sort of growth. I'm saying that based my experience of studying other successful artists on RU-vid. - It's great that you got started. I give the same advice to all my artist friends and no one cares to do anything. - Go check out channels like Roberto Blake, Video Creators and Garyvee.

Dude, I love your reviews. As a fellow artist I really appreciate your honest and in depth reviews. I think if you made an intro or got someone to make one for you, it would increase the quality of your content a lot. I think the best example of this is Minnie Small (check out her intro). If you want to connect over art my instagram is @gabrielfrith Thanks again for the awesome content!
@capbin146
@capbin146 7 лет назад
Studio Frith sorry I disagree. The first time you get an intro is ok but I'm saying oh come on get on with it. I like Teoh's intro straightforward to the point. I love Clive 5 art, and his intro but as a fan, I've seen it enough. Especially now RU-vid are putting adverts in every 10-15 mins.
@gabrielquinn7017
@gabrielquinn7017 7 лет назад
I just think it would be nice to have even like a 10 second intro messing around with ink or whatever with some music that sets the tone of his videos. Also I think clive's intro is cheesey af. We all have out point of view I guess. Have a nice day dude :)
@helloman6137
@helloman6137 7 лет назад
please no, DONT get an intro. I hate video intros! I even unsubscribed to one channel after they got an intro, because the sudden noise was a nuisance during nights, and watching the same stupid thing every video was just annoying and pointless.
@Cyd1057
@Cyd1057 7 лет назад
Agree with those who say to skip the intro! As someone who views most of your videos, I would probably stop watching because it's the content that is important and that is also where we get to "know" you, so what's the point? Intros are okay for hour-long shows or presentations, but not for short pieces, imo. The world chips away at our time as it is, so why contribute to that? I'd rather have that lost time for sketching!
