The shorter center screen is definitely more pleasing to look at then the tacky long vertical one. Mike is right about the 2.3. Sounds good on paper but is a farce to the the V6 it replaced in terms of fuel mileage and reliability. A natural aspirated or turbo charged V6 will be smoother while driving, idling, taking off and passing on the highway then any modern day 4 cylinder. The manufacturers save money building inexpensive 4 cylinders as opposed to V6's. The fuel savings is negligible and is a real world lousy argument and only holds muster to obtuse YOLO buyers. The rwd platform is definitely a plus and the optional 3 ltr V6 is not only a must but the really only engine choice that makes sense in a big heavy 3 row suv and most likely will achieve similar mileage as the 2.3. The Edge or Escape makes more sense for the 2.3 not the Explorer 🤙🏾🇺🇲
I have a 2022 explorer ST and I absolutely love it! I already did a few mods including an upgraded intercooler from whipple! It’s a fun SUV and I’ve had zero problems except I can’t keep my foot off the gas 😅
I purchased the XLT explorer purely based on price, performance, and interior layout. In Canada, the limited is 10k more so not worth it IMHO. In sport mode, this thing drives and handles well above all other vehicles in the class. I was able to get a massive discount off msrp in April so I'm happy overall. The downside is above average cabin noise and quality control. I do not plan to own this vehicle past powertrain warranty and this will likely be my last Ford as I feel QC is going downhill fast based on company valuation and stock holders wanting a strong bottom line.
The telluride was a clonking, lack of quality ride. We found the explorer a all around better quality. The explorer is a cruising machine, even in town, it’s not a stop and go but if you can get to spread quickly you can get 24 mpg at 30 or less long as you don’t stop and go at every light.
Yep, the new chassis is great for highway cruising. I will be test driving the hybrid variant soon so I hope you subscribed to catch that review next month.
Thank you! It's just the base 2.3L engine with the 10-speed that I didn't like. Maybe the V6 engines are better but like I said in the video, I haven't had the chance yet to drive one. The new Explorer is actually great to drive around corners and it's very comfy but that base 4-cylidner engine & transmission combo just ruined the experience for me.
M.G. Reviews well you aren’t the first person to suggest that this combo isn’t the best. I’ve seen a few reviewers mention it. Do you think Ford can fix this via software updates for the Explorer or is this simply a mechanical/hardware issue that just needs to be fixed or changed altogether?
@@housemusic1075 i think the transmission smoothness can be fixed with a simple software update but I'm not sure what they can do about the amount of noise that engine makes.
I'm not sure about the '21 Explorer with the EcoBoost but I recently drove the Hybrid version of this SUV and it is much, much better than this '20 XLT. Check out the video of the hybrid: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zdHKM9AVKic.html
