Wow, this was so helpful> I was getting ready to buy this to cut the grass for one acre when I’m out of town and it only allows once a week mowing. Total game changer, thank you so much .

Waiting on my Luba 2 5000 now. Received an email today from the manufacturer with the scheduled software updates. April: 1.Implementation of an intelligent anti-theft function, incorporating features like moving wake-up, anti-theft alarm, and location tracking capabilities. 2.Integration of a voice assistant function, facilitating basic mowing commands via Alexa Voice Assistant devices. 3.Addition of a strip print function. 4.Extension of RTK available range to 5km with network RTK data connection. 5.Enhanced optimization of the App UI. May: 1.Integration of a voice assistant function based on the Google Assistant service. 2.Introduction of a pattern printing function. Stay tuned as we strive to make LUBA the perfect choice for lawn mowing, providing users with a delightful mowing experience. Best regards, Mammotion

Some very funny moments! Look forward for the update. Ordered mine still waiting. This could be split between neighbors in a subdivision as well. 10 homes on 1/4ac $450 each for example. I’ve got 2ac finish mowing area and then another 2ac area that’s pretty far away. Wondering if I can get this sucker to travel all the way to another area.

Been debating getting the 5000h but hmm not so sure anymore may need another year of dev for a lawn robots, wish Eufy would come out with a mower their vacuum robots are epic! Thanks for taking the time to make this video

Thanks for the video. You can look up the hardware specs for each model on their website. There you can see that the L2 1000 is the only model that has HW differences (most likely just smaller battery), the rest of the models are exactly the same, just capped off with SW. For this reason even the L1 5000 was ultimately increased to 10000 by FW update. I think hardware-wise it could definitely cover a larger area, the limiting factor will be onboard memory limit (you must store the map and the visual point cloud somewhere) and then practicality to be able to mow the whole area in reasonable time with pauses for charging included.

Mowing in wet grass works, but your blades are going to get gummed up faster and you will also see quicker build up grass under the rotors and guards. I just now frequently to avoid this as much as possible and turn on the rain sensor. However, mine didn't always go out and continue after the rain stopped. And other times it would keep attempting to now in the rain just to go right back when the rain sensor tripped again since it was so raining. And other times, it ignored the rain and kept mowing. Just starting out the season for year 2 now, so maybe the recent update addressed those issues on mine. Thanks for the video. These things are worth it still for me even with the poor customer service and bugs we had to deal with in the being and still now. How your experience is at least as good as mine. And hope they continue too improve even more as well. Have a good one.

I had it running for 5 days. It cuts the grass very well, no arguing about that. The actual setup is simple although I am still working on the best setup with different areas after 5 days so the 18mn setup advertised are probably if you have a simple rectangular garden with grass and nothing else. Transpose this to a garden with several area, with bushes and flower, and plants and no-go areas etc, and this is much more of a challenge. You can define channels and no go zones and various areas of course but the Luba handles that is the issue. Another issue is the battery life. I have the Luba 1000. Hardly manages 1 hour and 10mn max before it goes back to recharge. Short grass, no slope, so unsure where the 2 hours running claim comes from. Certainly not working for me. It does recharge fairly quickly having said that, so it can finish the task in a reasonable amount of time but the point being setup and running time are just not correct claims. I also experience an issue where Luba will spin on itself, doing 360 circles on itself for no reason, and it just destroys the grass and rip it off rather than cut it. Not great for a mower. The cutting patterns are also not doing what they should be doing. The chess board pattern is a complete mess, the zigzag and adaptive zig zag are ok but as soon as the mower meets and obstacle and has to change its trajectory, it gets confused and does not carry on with the pattern. Poor again. I looked for a simple lines cutting pattern.l could not find one. There is a perimeter pattern which starts from the perimeter that you setup and does the same again below the perimeter and then inside again etc.. but it is longer to 4 perimeters laps! Why would there be a limit? Why 4? It should go until it has finished cutting the whole area, not limit to an arbitrary number of laps! I contacted Support for all of those questions. They basically read an FAQ and don’t know. They apparently submitted tickets for each issue I have realised but very slow to respond, and I got 2 emails asking more questions (which I already covered and explained) and was told they need time to analyse and will respond in time! No idea what that means but this is not good support when you pay over 2K for something. I was even told that the straight lines cutting pattern is available if I run the mower manually! Really!? Very useful! Not! It is means to be automated, and a super simple and basic pattern in straight line is not available unless I spend 1 hour standing like a lemon in my garden directing the 2K mower which is meant to be automated so you don’t have to do it..!? I hope this will be resolved with firmware upgrades and hopefully asap, but at the moment it works for a simple garden with no obstacle (and preferably very small so it has the chance to cut the grass before the battery is discharged). I had a robot mower which could do but that previously and costs £250 on Amazon. Just saying but Mammotion should step up big time, offer some real supper and test their products rather than wait for their customers to be Beta testers.
@MrJustinWheeler
@MrJustinWheeler 6 месяцев назад
I’ve also not seen 2 hour run time. I get about 1 hour of mowing, and then it charges for about an hour. On a perfect day cutting non-stop, it’ll mow for about an hour. While the firmware update did fix some things for me, I think it actually made some things worse. Much more erratic behavior now. In fact, about 75% of the mowing tasks I have assigned in the last 2 weeks have failed to fully finish without some sort of issue or manually coaxing on my parts. Hoping they have another update coming.
@alphafuturestrading8278
@alphafuturestrading8278 6 месяцев назад
@@MrJustinWheeler I thought this was because mine is the 1000 but you have the larger model so not battery side/model related. This is “good” in a way as it probably means it is firmware related and can be fixed. I have daily emails from their Tech guys in Hing Kong and they keep asking me for some logs and then say they can’t see the issues in the logs. From there either I wait for the next firmware update or I initiate a return but I am hopeful that it is only firmware related and can improve. A lot of it seems to be gimmicks (camera, SIM card, mowing patterns with letters etc). It looks like a cool gadget/toy but at the end of the day, it needs to cut what it is meant to cut, without having to worry about it at all as far as I am concerned. If I was into spending 2 hours every weekend mowing I would probably not have a robot mower at all. But if the goal is having a nice lawn without having to worry about it at all then it should do the basic tasks it is meant to and we can then worry about cool/nice to have features.

20:51 usually if it loses signal, it stops and will continue when it gets signal. Unsure if that was the issue or not. I don't cut in the rain. And when it gets dirty, I just let it wash off in the rain. If you move your reference station, you have to re-map. My yard isn't as big as yours is, so I schedule my whole yard and it goes to recharge when it needs to and mows until it's done. I don't mow wet grass though. I mow enough that I can skip rainy days. Sounds like you'll just have your luba mowing all day every day with your yard size. Once you work out all the areas you have issues with and skip those, you won't have to watch it anymore. I only watch mine in my front yard since it crosses my driveway and I don't want it run over, and it draws a lot of attention, so I want people to know I am watching it so they don't get any ideas. I would also hide an air tag in it until they get the sim card up and active. There are a few places to do it. People don't realize the luba is locked to your account and if you live near desperate people, they'll steal it and realize they got a lemon that won't work without the rtk and is locked to the specific person who set up the app. Can't work without it at all. I wish you luck. I would schedule as many as possible on 1 day and the rest on the other and alternate if you can't get it all done in 1 day. I set mine 1130 in my front (front is dry by then) and don't let it mow past dark when night time dew is on my grass. Luckily my whole lawn fits in 1 day. I got the Luba 1 3000 and it covers my whole lawn. I've heard about the luba 1 5000 getting double mow distance in the app, maybe the luba 2 10000 will too later. That's a lot of lawn. It is purely software and i think that on time highest end model, it should be limitless as they don't sell anything higher. It's literally a software constraint. Man was yours expensive or what??? I love my Luba 1 though and if the 2 weren't so expensive, I'd get it... but I can't see a reason to upgrade since mine works so well. If you don't have too much tree coverage, you may luck out with no issues. I've seen people do each section 1x-2x a week and be good. If you can, do that. Figure out between charge time etc how much yard it can do and schedule it for that. You'll get into a rhythm. My yard was the best mowed lawn in my neighborhood since the luba mowed so often. Others were going every other week when their lawn started looking bad and mine just never looked bad. All I had to do was edge my front yard near the street every other week and I was good. Now a new mow season has started and I'm golden.

I just concluded week one with my Luba 2, aiming to mow the full 2.5 acres with this machine. I like to overlap adjacent task areas slightly by only a foot or two. Sorry, but what I’m referring to probably won’t make sense unless you are actively getting acquainted with the Luba 2.

Thanks for the in-depth review! Are you able to elaborate on how the acreage cap is calculated? Do no-go zones or non-mowable areas count toward the area cap? I have ~2 acres, but if I subtract the non-mowable areas (buildings, driveway, wooded area, etc), I may be under the 1.25 acre limit of the 5000 version. If it uses the outer perimeter, I'll need the 10000 version. Thanks in advance!
@MrJustinWheeler
@MrJustinWheeler 5 месяцев назад
So I can’t answer definitively, as they don’t provide any feedback in the app regarding your available allotment of mow area. But if I had to guess, the cap is based solely on the area calculated within the bounds of the mow area. I would not worry about the no-go zones counting towards your mowable area.

@ 00:12 , "The Luba is something I've been looking at for a Really Long time", but then you admit you could have done more research on how the Luba 2 works despite having access to the Online User Manual. Ur Right, nearly every complaint and concern you had setting up the Luba 2 is WELL covered in the UM and in most the previously released RU-vid Vid's on the Original Luba. Pg's 21 & 22 of the UM are Very clear that the RTK Reference Antenna uses the Extension Cable to plug into a dedicated Power Supply, or on Pg 23, you can use the Charging Station for Power to the RTK Antenna. That's not a Mystery but you admit that reading the UM would have helped, which I'd Highly recommend to Anyone making this rather expensive AutoMower purchase. @ 6:30 you go into the "Area Cap" of the different Luba Models . . . Except for the Base Model 1000 (which has a smaller battery), the remaining models, 3000, 5000 & 10,000 are all the same except for one feature that allows a larger area to be Mowed. The 1000 will handle Lawn Area's up to 1000 sq Meters (or 1/4 acre), the 3000 will handle slightly more than 3000 sq Meters (3/4 acres), the 5000 will handle just over 1.25 acres and the model 10,000 is rated to just a tad over 2.5 acres of Memorized Mapped Mowing & No-Go area's. What, did I just mention Memory ? Yupper, that's what ur paying for w/ the pricing increases by model. GPS coordinates are measured in Longitude & Latitude and w/o going down that Rabbit Hole too far, each square inch of Real Estate has a different Longitude & Latitude associated with it which are each represented by a quite lengthy Number. If you want More Longitude & Latitude coordinates memorized, ur gonna need More Memory on that Mother Board. The same is true w/ Computers, the more Memory you want, the more it's gonna cost. Simple as that. You are paying for Additional Memory w/ the extended coverage models. I got my Luba 2 Model 3000 just a few weeks ago and have only had a few dry days to set it up and play with the App & Control Settings. I saw nearly Every YT video on the Original Luba and had read thru the UM online before getting my Luba 2 and I STILL Flailed w/ the setup. I can honestly say, it was ALL due to "Pilot Error". "Chinglish" & "Jinglish" user manuals have Always been bad w/ some being just plain undecipherable. This UM that comes w/ the Luba 2 Mower isn't Horrible but could use some help. It is understandable if you keep at it and experiment a bit w/ the available settings. The other note I'd make is that this Luba 2 is Nowhere Near complete as far as Software Upgrades go. I got an e-mail a few days ago from Mammotion explaining that Several Software Updates (they call them "Firmware" updates), for the Luba 2 will be released over the next few Months w/ one or two of them that apply to the Original Luba as well. The Controllers for the Original Luba & Luba 2 are Completely different and so most Updates will only apply to the Luba 2. I had to figure out a few things w/ my Luba 2, for example, I move the Charging Station & Mower indoors when I'm done mowing for the day. I had to learn how Not to get a "Fault" when doing so, but I was successful and it keeps my mower secured at night. The RTK Ref Antenna placement is, by Far, the most critical aspect of setting up this Automower and you Cannot Fudge the process or cheat the instructions in that part of the Setup. The Camera affords Much better mowing success when GPS Satellite signals drop off below the min of 20 Satellite signals. It also improves the Range allowed between the RTK Ref Antenna and the Luba itself. Of course, if you add the SIM Card Data to the Mower, it will allow you to mow up to 3 miles from the RTK Antenna and will get your mower back if it's stolen, otherwise the Rande is 150 Meters (492 ft). It's a HUGE improvement over the Original Luba. I Really like the "Real Time" camera views sent "Live" to my cell phone as the Luba is mowing. The additional allowed "Zones" per model, Alexa & Google Home Voice Control and Extended Communications ranges make this a Much better mower than the Original Luba.

Hi I'm thinking about getting the 10000h for a 2.4 acre yard split into 2 sections. Can you tell me how it is doing for you so far? Do you have trees or slopes or areas with either chicken wire fencing or no fencing that you need it to not cross? Does it avoid things and obey virtual boundaries if there's nothing there to stop it? How big and what level of complexity is your yard? Thanks much.
@MrJustinWheeler
@MrJustinWheeler 6 месяцев назад
I wish I could share a photo of my layout. It’s more complex than the average yard. Lots of trees and well hydrant. Nothing square. A lot of flat area, but plenty of steep slopes and narrow corridors to traverse. One particular section is 8’ wide and 50’ long with a wall on one side, a sheer drop (into water) on the other, and a row of trees right in the middle. Is it perfect, no. But I definitely don’t regret the purchase and the yard has never looked better. It does a really good job of avoiding things. I have barb wire and chain link fence, and it’s never been a problem. If you take your time to set up the perimeter, I think you’ll be happy with its results.

Thanks much. On your app screenshots in the video, you definitely have a more complex yard than mine. But I have some slopes, 15 to 20 Gigantic trees, lots of small trees, and several lengthy chicken wire fences that I'm worried it won't be able to "see" which would cause me issues. You have the best review video on RU-vid of it, and one of the few honest ones. I think I'm going to buy it. What does it do when it encounters small to medium fallen tree limbs? Does it 4x4 over them or do u turns? I wish they had a "weed and feed" spreader attachment for it... Possible item I might home brew for it with a timer haha.

@@sf5553 thanks! Happy to help. Tree limbs can be a problem. I try to keep the sticks off the yard, but they inevitably get in the path. If they are small, it will Baja over them. Can you put the base station in a garage (assuming you leave the door open or open the door before it’s ready to dock)? Do things like your house or trees block the satellite reception to the RTK antenna? If the antenna needs to be plugged in, how long is that power cord and I’m assuming you can’t drape it over lawn you plant mow, right?
@MrJustinWheeler
@MrJustinWheeler 6 месяцев назад
I’ve seen some videos where guys have successfully placed their RTK base station indoors. There’s a guy here on YT who actually put it in his attic. I have not tried that yet, but have seen that it can work. The manufacturer recommends against it, however. So I wouldn’t count on it. The power cord is probably 30’ long. I definitely wouldn’t run the cord in the mowing area unless you buried it or pinned it down really good with landscape staples/stakes.

Manual mowing can only be done within a certain Bluetooth range for safety reasons. But AutMow did say you can at least watch through the camera as your mower is mowing automatically. Thank you Justin for your feed back very interesting. I've just a question for all users. I understand that this Luba is a bit sensitive to satellite reception. But do you think it is still possible to make a shelter to host the charging station ? In a garden's hut for example ?

I didn’t mean for that to come off too negative. It’s just such a great machine, that a little tweak to the instructions in the box would go a long way. Thank you!

How is their Customer Service? Is there a phone number to call with questions? Are there local dealers who can repair this if there are issues?

I’ve been looking at the Luba 2 5000h for about 1.2 acre lawn. Curious, how much lawn are you actually cutting and how long does it take to cut? I’m wondering if the size lawn if this will be cutting grass permanently with charge time
@MrJustinWheeler
@MrJustinWheeler 6 месяцев назад
I’ve got a little over 2 acres that it maintains regularly. There are a lot of variables when it comes to how long it takes, but it could mow the entire place in 24 hours with a rough cut. But if you ran a tight pattern, at a low speed, it would take considerably longer.

Why does metal cause issues? I want to get one of the lubas but i have metal water tanks that will need to be mowed around and a metal roof...where i thought to install the rtk...

@@MrJustinWheeler It worked great for 6 weeks, Then i started having all sort of battery/power issues: mower dying in the yard, suddenly discharging, drastically reduced mow times, overheating errors while charging, charging randomly stopping. Support ticket for 6 weeks has not resolved the issue. They will not acknowledge any physical issue with the battery/power system and will not respond to my request for replacement.

Tasks and zones are two different things. To cut a zone more than once a week, you just need to create another task for that same zone. I'm a Luba 1 user browsing reviews for the Luba 2 for a possible future upgrade. But I'm pretty well versed on all the mammotion/Luba stuff. As for the difference between the models, you are correct. The hardware is the same. The limits are strictly software related in the firmware. I agree this is dumb because I also figured this out after buying mine. Fortunately it wasn't an issue for the land I had. I only found it out when trying to create overlapping zones.

@iiit6608 5 месяцев назад
@UnitedStates. Im leaning towards doing the same. I have around 2 acres of area to mow, which is at the top end of what a robot mower will do and who knows how long it'll last being ran that often. Even if it lasts 5 years, 4k is a lot of $ to shell out that often.
@UnitedStates.
@UnitedStates. 5 месяцев назад
@@iiit6608 yeah. Tbh, I don’t think it’s worth it at that price, imo. There’s an interesting one called mowrator with a full blade, but it’s remote controlled. It sounds cool, but I bet it gets pretty boring after a while.
