I never pay attention to "this game's too easy" comments, because it's just safe bragging, the same way folks are mean in the comments, the anonymity of the internet draws people's worst elements. Great review!
This one is a lot of fun. Makes for a great group gaming experience. But I'm with you, I sure don't understand where the sentiment that this is "too easy" comes from. This one is stacked against the players. I think getting enough civilians evacuated is quite doable. My experience though is it is hard to keep the number of Horror tiles in check, and in the end the overrun explodes as you can't put tiles on, and/or the biohazard track erupts, or both are happening at the same time. For one thing, there are only two faces on a die that do damage. I count the "half hit" face as a blank because typically you're rolling so few dice that the odds of getting two half hits are so low that usually that face acts as a blank. And so, in a combat you do one or two or three hits, and that just isn't enough to hold back the Horrors. And Ranged combat uses a precious supply, in most cases, and supply is hard to come by, and it's just not worth using a Supply to maybe do one hit, which does nothing. So, the end game comes down to just hoping the fate cards don't activate the wrong tracks, or you get very lucky on the events. This isn't a game where I feel like my decisions are the sole determining factor for the outcome, but I'll still play it whenever offered the chance because it is such an enjoyable experience.
