Just because Bond's going into space doesn't mean there isn't time for some sky diving, boat chases and some cable car related danger first. James and Tom invite you to activate the BonadBoard in this space-tacular review of Moonraker.
Brilliant, 😂 learnt and laughed so much. You guys have such a good time making these, its very aparent. Disappointed that Tom didn't take up my hair tutorial offer, the plaits would have stayed in but he redeemed himself when he pointed out the likeness of Michael Lonsdale to Peter Dinklage. Loved that my favourite voiced actor James Mason got a mention. Mrs Wallis, your eldest fan has of course forgiven James although I had to warn her of his use of profanities later on (that's going to take Brownie points off!). Looking forward to FYEO ❤
In hindsight, a hair and make-up department would’ve been useful. Couldn’t get the wires to stay in as I’m clueless. I think my mum will also be very disappointed with James swearing. Despicable.
Well done again on another great review. Missed the “Dooshes”again though. Tom, who did your Dolly plaits, I think they need a shout out, if you did them yourself, seriously impressed. I loved Moonraker when it came out, I think I was at the right age. Another Roger boat chase, that’s 3 in 4 movies. classic formula for Bond with a big villain base, a big explosive ending, and a world domination theme. It was also the first Bond where I started to recognise all the product placement, 7-Up,Seiko watches, Marlboro cigarettes and British Airways, those marketing bods, I wanted a Seiko watch that Christmas, damn those marketing people and their world domination.
Prepare to be impressed. I did my own hair. The left side was barely staying together (it’s not a style I usually adopt) but the bows did their job. I had made some notes about the product placement but it didn’t make the cut. In hindsight, I could’ve got a couple of cans of 7-Up for a visual gag. I’m sure there will be similar occurrences to take advantage of in future. Cheers for getting in touch again. All the best.
Bob from Blockbusters??? Moonraker is the film that made me a Bond fan, it's so fantastical, I love it.. A teenage girl's perspective: Moonraker was the first Bond film I saw at the cinema. Holly was so exciting, a scientist who's not afraid to fight. She was my favourite Bond girl for quite a long while. As a grown up: The Bentley is a thing of beauty, although, not quite as pretty as Tom at 12.49! 😉 The scene you put up at 52.02 was/is incredible, I'd happily have that as a poster. Great suggestion from my fellow viewer to have Tom's summary near the top of the show. A fab episode. Isn't it funny how as kids we accept the films we see but as adults, we question things like, who is Drax ordering a henchman from? 😂🤣😂 Careful Luxury Tedium, you're fast becoming my favourite podcast.
This film looks Fantastic on the big screen, by this time the films had moved away from thrillers and were more just family fun films with a bit of wink, wink for the mums and dads to enjoy, like Benny Hill
"Mumwrecker"? You beast. Three possibly ways to break tie. One is to re-score to a higher precision- one decimal place should be sufficient. The second is to consider temporal efficiency- that Moonraker took 126 minutes to rack up the points, whereas Live And Let Die achieved it five minutes faster. Finally, financial efficiency. Moonraker spends an inordinate $189.9k per point, comparing abyssmally to Live And Let Die's frugal $39.1k.
