Your videos are really informative 👍.

I try to make them that way, but really, I don’t know any more than the average reefkeeper about any of this stuff. However, I think the “common reefer’s perspective” can be pretty valuable, as opposed to listening to videos from companies trying to hype this stuff up with fancy talk 🤣

The few times that I have used a gfo media, it's taken two to three weeks to start seeing results. I used it in a traditional reactor, your results should be about the same, imo it's better to start with less media to prevent stripping the phosphate to quickly.

Thanks Ted. Glad to see my cautious instincts likely represent the better route. I’ll play the patient game with this new addition! Phosphate dropped by 0.02 through the night. Maybe attributable to the reactor, maybe normal fluctuation, but regardless, good to have it trending down slightly. Was getting too high for comfort.

Considering this product as carbon filter but wonder things may get messy when changing media. Is there a way to flush out carbon dust without removing the entire base out of the sump? (to prevent dust to get into the sump).

@@joruiz35 you don’t remove the base ever. You unlock the acrylic cylinder with a simple twist and lift it free of the base. I’ve never once taken the base out since installing it lol. It’s awesome.

I’d throw some Brightwell Purit mixed with some Rowa Phos in that bad boy. Bump GFO

May need to bump it. Starting out real slow with this. Never been to a point where I needed to reduce phosphate until now, so I’m feeling it out conservatively. But I’m an experimenter at heart. Purit just made my short list!

I never understood the bashing of this product either. I really like it myself as well.

Dude, it’s absolutely out of control. People are so crazy when it comes to this hobby. I think it’s because the financial stakes are high, but good lord - it’s still our choice to stay in the hobby every day. We know it’s not cheap. People need to calm down. They’re slowing/killing innovation due to the way they act.

Great video, very informative Just ordered this My phosphate were 2.02 now I can’t get them below 1.60 without lanthium chloride. I feel like this is going to solve my problem

2.02, that’s a level I’ve never heard of. What are you using to test them? I have the Hanna phosphate checker and mine are 0.05 right now. Highest they’ve been is 0.17. I feel like 2.02 would be lethal levels, so I’m thinking you’re measuring with a different metric.

@@kalamazoo_reefer I’m using Hanna phosphate low range. My highest reading was 2.02 in November. Been around 1.3-1.6 for a month now. Alk-10,cal-533,mg-1590,1.026,ph-8.1,nitrate-24.4. Not getting much coral growth or any coral recession. All my algae is mostly on the glass and see, don’t see much on the rock.

@@McGD4 is it 2.02ppm? I’ve got the Hanna Ultra Low Range marine phosphate tester. Not sure if there’s a “low range” version AND “ultra low range” version, but that may be contributing to why the reading seems odd to me.
@McGD4
@McGD4 7 месяцев назад
@@kalamazoo_reefer ultra low range checker is 0.01-0.90 Low range checker is 0.01-2.40 I believe I had to get the low range cuz my ultra range was always just blinking at 0.90 (meaning the reading is higher then 0.90)

@@McGD4 That’s so wild to me! I just haven’t ever heard of such a thing before, and your other parameters are basically in check, and it’s not like everything is dying on you or anything! Wow! Color me fascinated 😂 Alright, so now that I know all this, what’s your feed frequency/schedule like? And what food do you feed? That’s the next logical inquiry.

Seems way to large, there are much better and cheaper made units out there, a prime example is the aquamaxx (JKS) units
@kalamazoo_reefer
@kalamazoo_reefer 9 месяцев назад
Cheaper than $68? Because that’s what I paid for this. I also love the design. It works very well, and is simple and well-built, so “better” is certainly relative to the individual experience. Searched for Aquamaxx JKS units and came up with no web results, but most Aquamaxx reactors seem to have pretty middling reviews. That said, this Nyos G2 product was essentially review-bombed by angry people, so the same might have happened with Aquamaxx’s products, always tough to tell which reviews are legitimate in this hobby.

@@kalamazoo_reefer I don't think Nyos got "review-bombed", they just put out a terribly thought out product and then didn't want to accept it. I think the real issue was the epedemic of undiclosed adverts from all the tubers pushing these products because of their looks and not their use. And even though most had the same problems as reported by just about everyone they did not disclose the problems, althoughit it shouldn't really be a surprise as the same tubers are promoting the use of cipro in aquariums...... You might find it easier to search for the aquamedic brand in your country as they seem to have taken over the US and parts of europe with all their rebranded products. There are still obvious problems with the "new" nyos design; - it is twice the size it needs to be, so much undeed extra plastic garbage increaseasing the footprint - expose water running down the sides causes salt creep and salt dust - additional sponges equals more unecessary cleaning - exhaust water has no directional flow, so it sucks up much of the same water it already processed - mains AC in saltwater, seriously it is nearly 2024.....
