I have the 4/5 nymph but what is the difference apart from the reel and spools diameter being bigger on the nymph and dry, is the spools width wider or still the same? Thanks
Great review , I have the same reel and love the narrow width of the spool which means when retrieving you don't have to move line from side to side, I bought a spare spool and have to say it's a bit tight that Vision don't supply a case with it!
Could you please make the same video with the Nymph and Dry reel? It's the bigger one than Nymph. My point is that nowhere is it stated if Nymph and Dry has a cage construction like Nymph. Thank you
Good review. Ive been suprised by vision reels, i got the vision deep for salmon fishing as there was a good deal on it. Hate to say it but the drag on it is beter than my hardy salmon reel.
Hey Ib and Andy you two are the best . I love watching your vids keep it up. On the subject of the euronym you make mention of dragging the deck and it would be great if you can share your thoughts on that versus drifting lighter flies near the bottom.
Hi Andy, Is it possible to do a comparison against the Hardy Ultraclick, both made for the same purpose yet Hardy's is extremely lightweight and I wonder about balance with the 10'+ nymph rods?
Yes up Andy. On the 11ft #2 nymph maniac would you use the 4/5 nymph reel or the 5/6 nymph and dry reel to balance it out. I’ll only use it as a dedicated nymph rod. Cheers matey.
dude, great review. Do you have a top 5 euro reels list you could share? The most important aspect which you touch on here is the "full cage". Was fishing yesterday with a new reel and had my mono rig slip through ~ 20 times. Yikes!!!! Anyway, thanks.
Thanks for the review Andy. Seriously considering one of these and the 10' 3# Nymphmaniac rod on the basis of your reviews. You mention that you think its a little light to properly balance the 10' rod. I wonder if the slightly larger Nymph & Dry version of this reel might do the trick coming in at 131g and 105mm diameter? Any thoughts? I don't suppose you've tried this version of the reel? Cheers, G
Honestly I've not tried it, but in short yes I do think it would be closer, and would have the benefits of extra width and retrieve speed, it's likely the better reel to balance the rod 👍
good review. not sure how you would do it but is there some way you could grade this against other reels? as you say 220 quidis a chunk of money for a reel so what others could you buy in that bracket and are they better or worse than that? just a thought. keep up the good work you two.
I think the grading thing can get a little unfair, this might get 9/10 for being a nymphing reel, but another reel might be 10/10 for conventional fishing but 6/10 as a nymph reel. Plus as products age they will be superseded by other better products, a 9/10 reel now might be a 7/10 reel in 3 years time. Does that make any sense?!🙈😂
