I watched "Let It Be" on the 8th and now I'm watching "Get Back" for the very first time. I did enjoy "Let It Be" it's not depressing at all to me. Maybe some people subconsciously compare it unfavorably to the bright energy and enthusiasm of "A Hard Day's Night" and that's why they see it as "dark" and "depressing" or whatever. I'm not sure. There's just a little minor quibble between George and Paul and that's it. Who hasn't had a minor quibble with a close friend or co-worker? That's just life. And the rooftop concert is pure joy to watch.
Although there were many joyful moments in Get Back, chiefly the concert itself, I didn’t find watching the fracturing of the greatest band ever to be particularly elating. It was a better historical document and better film for sure, but my overriding feeling watching it was one of sadness. Both films have their place IMO.
Get Back Peter Jackson tells a structured story of the filming. Let it Be is great and definitely beautifully restored, but it is all over the place, timewise. I saw Let It Be film at the cinema. Paul was just being constructive in my opinion and I agree, Paul was the most creative. 🇬🇧
You’re wrong when it comes to Peter Jackson’s Get Back has everything the original movie has…Well the 1970 film version has full versions of the “Two of us”along with “The long and winding Road and Let It Be. You only get a taste of those in Peter Jacksons Get Back and that was made that way on purpose I bet anything . These are full versions of those songs exclusive to only the Let It Be film.
I saw the original; why would anyone WANT to see that depressing - and now known to be incorrect - depiction of the Beatles interaction? Just because it looks better doesn't make it worth watching.
