Apparantly there is one versin for Video and one for Photo. Pardon the ignorance, but they look the same on the pics, is there such a difference between both, that I could us the video one for photo work. The price is steep and cannot afford both. Your advice would be greatly appreciated... thanks

According to X-rite, not really. There are differences which make them better for each distinct application. But the one you'll use the most!

Hi, I am thinking of getting the X-Rite colour Passport for video. I have Colour Finale in Final cut pro which supports this. You mentioned software, would I have to buy that as well. thanks, Jerry

If you've got Colour Finale and FCPX then that is all the software you need as far as I'm aware. Cheers.

That is correct. ColorFinale is sufficient - whether it's the standard or the professional version.

Sorry, that would take an essay which is more than I can do here. Plenty of online guides if you google for them.

Interesting little gadget. I'll pass for now as I'm barely an amateur myself. Neat though.

The Xrite card i bought doesn't have those 3 lines (black - grey- white). Does that mean it's fake? Or is it a newer-older version?

It could be you bought the photo version instead of the video one..?

TubeShooterMag Yeah I realised that after watching several videos. Thank you though!

You can use the Colour Checker (and balance colours using it) in almost any software that has a colour corrector function but the little plugin I mentioned (as I recall) is only for FCPX

ANY IDEA HOW TO CHECK IT WITHOUT THAT PLUG IN IM COMPLETELY LOST

I can't really give a tutorial in a RU-vid comment but in essence you use a colour wheel to amend the colours as recorded from the chart so they hit the right vectorscope spots.

I don't use Premiere.

why not using the photo version for video? is much cheaper !!
@TubeShooterMag

Because the colours and levels used are not the most appropriate for video use.
