Mist a bit and put a somewhat thick towel and iron out the wrinkle good luck it usually works for my posters easy on the heat and take several passes spaced out
The rehashed cowboy phase of the Zombie Strike line was literally peak!!! Good thing they didn't trash the concept cuz if they did we wouldn't have gotten the Hammershot, Doublestrike, Sledgefire & Slingfire all of which paved the way to cool and gimmicky priming mechs... Even though some of them lack in the performance department, I think the emotional response you get when you fire this blasters is enough to make up for it...
The worst part about the "Hmm... let's just make money." Is that four basically seperate fandoms all felt it in tandom. Nerf, Transformers, Magic, and D&D all were hit one way or another, what with the layoffs, the whole Pinkerton controversy, and the worse paintjob and plastic quality. How badly does a company need to mess up that four seperate fandoms can hang their heads and sigh with regret?
The reason a lot of the early Zombie Strike blasters have a different aesthetic is because Nerf was reportedly testing both Zombie and Western themes with focus groups and zombies won out. So the earlier molds were made to fit either theme. Zombie Strike eventually switched to the makeshift once it was an established sub-theme, while Doomlands took inspiration from the unused Wild West concepts.
Well that definitely explains some of the blasters in the Doomlands line and why both the Hammershot and Slingfire would've been right at home in there. Unfortunately, I personally found that a lot of that series was needlessly oversized for what they did and could've been slimmed down by substantial amounts as the only one that really caught my eye was the Double Dealer.
@@gigadrayco84 okay but here me out.... their size is worth it. you are allowed to call yourself a Nerf Marine when you can single hand hold the Judge like it's a glock.
This makes complete sense. The “Gen 1” blasters like the Hammershot, Sledgefire and Slingfire have such a distinct lack of the makeshift cobbled look that the rest of the line has, and it makes sense that they could’ve been used for either the zombies or cowboy lines
I am lowkey fascinated by the fact that in an industry where copying features is commonplace, Zuru made multiple versions of the FlipFury without the actual 'flip' mechanism. Pulling the lower trigger simply unlocks the barrel; you still have to manually rotate the second barrel into position. If you time it right, you can twist the blaster and pull the trigger to force the new barrel in. I wonder if Zuru left it out to save on costs or if there was some sort of patent they didn't want to challenge.
Agreed👍👍 Btw the last 2 ff’s I purchased via Amazon were problematic as heck. Darts jamming & poor consistency. The mechanism has never been an issue but soooo satisfying n unique.🏁🏁
My son and I loved the Zombie Strike series. When he was about 4 years old he wanted the Brain Saw but wasn’t strong enough to cock it. A year or so later he got it and still loves it. I wish Doomlands lasted longer, too.
Not only the best nerf line but also the one my favorite blaster came out, the nerf zombiestrike scravenger. A lever action modular-ish mag feed blaster with SLAMFIRE (yes, on a lever action), i love this blaster so much, its so fun and still my go to on every single stock level nerf war
*This will be interesting.* While you do love the Sledgefire, you've been kinda back-and-forth with this line. While I agree many of them aren't really practical, they all are pretty cool. Hammershot is ofc the best thing to come out of this line.
WalcomS7: I understand how much work goes into making videos like this, but this is the future of Tagback, man. I really want to see more series overviews like this in your style, where you talk a bit about the blaster's value to the hobby outside of its specs and base function. Good One! and worth the wait.
I still have my Doublestrike, and it's one of my favorite sidearm blasters. It's easy to load, easy to conceal, quick to fire, and the grip is soooooooo comfortable.
“Let’s just be blunt. This is one of the Nerf Vortex blasters of all time.” Words are hard. Good video. You should do more videos where you provide specific insight to how they could improve it. That’s what Elite 2.0 should have been… an improvement on blasters we love.
I agree with your assessment on the SilentStrike. It was $10 for not enough blowgun. Now specifically for me, I am a classically trained orchestral bass trombonist. I can blow enough air to ignore the shortcomings of the SilentStrike. But in the end, I benched this toy in favor of PVC pipe anyway.
Easily the hammershot, sledgefire, scravenger, revoltinator (wish I had one so I can make the carry handle a full carry handle), longshot, slingfire quadrot nail biter and the clearshot and dreadbolt; zombie strike was SO COOL when it first came out! The slingfire was my very first blaster I ever bought
I love how you gave a fair review of even the blasters you didn’t like. You also made the first plug for royal match that actually interested me. Keep up the awesomeness and don’t work too hard. We love you Walcom.
God I ADORED the doublestrike as a kid. It was all my family could really afford at the time, either that or all the hammershots were sold out. But that little dude was my bread and butter in nerf fights. It felt so good in my hand that I learned to spin nerf guns just by twirling it in my hand for fun
I remember when the Slingfire was announced and people were concerned about the lever breaking and were planning all sorts of ways to replace it with a metal part. Then it was released and people were pleasantly surprised that there was a metal piece molded into the plastic lever. So damn good.
Hammershot for sure #1, NailBiter was awesome, and I put a longstrike barrel on the Scravenger, along with the axe and blade attachments. Im a Nerf painter, so I made it look super sharp!!
Zombie strike is the best line! Love the sledge fire, sling fire, hamershot and the double strike. Slingfire is great for playing with kids, it doesn't hit that hard but has major style points..
Awesome video! Zombie Strike was one of my favorite lines from Nerf, growing up. Also, noticed all the FF songs used in the bg; you got some good taste in music.
I watched the whole thing because I've always appreciated your videos (essay incoming), ever since the buzz bee vampire hunter crossbow review, since around 10k subs and back when you used to do livestreams on BO3, I've been around your channel a very long time and I just want to say thank you for sticking to the channel. if RU-vid hasn't unsubbed me like it did with a bunch of people I think I've been subbed for around 8 years (around 2015), and I've never gotten bored or stopped watching Seeing it grow has inspired me in many ways to start tinkering and chopping stuff up to make stuff from video games because I saw the double magnus mod or the paradigm shift its always been a fun watch and i want to thank you for being my gateway into modding and just goofy stuff in general (also finding out that we have the same birthday by randomly opening RU-vid and seeing 'birthday stream' was a fun surprise). Thank you for all the hard work you do, it doesn't go unnoticed and I'm always appreciative of a new upload. -Some random Canadian fan (also I know you're busy but I'd love to see tag back stuff if it'd be something you were thinking about doing, no pressure tho :D)
WS7 Amazing video. What a fantastically detailed look at the Zombie Strike line. This line had some pretty amazing blasters. Thanks for all the hard work that went into this one. Keep up the great work. You ROCK.
Wow that was a watch. Took me 3 different sessions over two days to get through that video but worth it and really appreciate the effort that must have been involved. Great to see the history of the line and it's rise and fall. Would love to see a Rebelle line video and maybe a Doomlands one in the future also 😊
this was my favorite Nerf series of all time !!!! It wasn't about competition it was about fun and crazy set ups and yet it gave us some the most iconic designs ever and it was far better than it should have been; this was the series that my son loved the most; he would sit and watch zombie movies with his sling fire and hammer shot ready to go
Zombie Strike is one of my favorite series form Nerf the hammershot is one of my absolute favorite blasters of all time it’s what got me into Nerf especially with other blasters like the Scravenger and the Slingfire I completely agree Walcolm I miss when Nerf did these kind of blasters
I found my zombie doublestrike randomly laying on the beach. I assume some little kid left it there. it had some sand in it but I cleaned it up and it worked ok not perfect but it was fun to find.
The community college I went to had zombie tag as well, no nerf guns. I was bummed with that rule since I bought a diatron for it. I definitely picked up a longstrike when this line rereleased it
I have a Nailbiter, since its a freaking cool blaster. One day I took it out and it just didn't work. Pulling the trigger did move the clip, but never fired. Possibly a catch issue, but my dad doesn't trust himself to fix it even though he's found methods to fix it online.
One time i bought a wooden crossbow from spain when i was young it got past security because it had souvenir print It had cork heads for wooden bolts and was decently effective No one was shot at
The Brainsaw, Hammer shot , sledgehammer all great. It was a sleeper line which really grew on me over time. The line could still be great if nerf put some effort into being creative. Great video thanks for the flashback.
Great video, Walcom! It's nice seeing the chronological history of these releases, as well as the original Elite designs for some of the first few blasters before they had decided on this line and the aesthetic. The little background gags behind the product shots were funny, very nice. Zombie Strike is definitely a line to be cherished, even with the weaker releases. The Revreaper and Brainsaw are some of the favourite items in my small collection! More things like this definitely seem like a good way to evolve your work, although obviously they're very time-consuming so maybe just every... two months? Whatever feels comfortable for you, very important not to get crushed by ambitions. I still enjoy your "here's a new thing it's pretty cool" reviews as well.
I was acrolling the titles to look ats peciffic guns and having all of the names lined up made me realise how brutal they sound. Not the most creative, but very cool
If I made Zombiestrike 2.0... -The Piper: Electronic full auto flywheeler with a body shaped like a pipe and a magazine going in the top. The stock looks like a T-pipe with a wood piece wrapped to the back. There would be a tac rail on either side of the blaster to attach the scope(also pipe-shaped), and a barrel attachment point up front. -The Gravedigger: Four-shot pump action front loader springer with a four-stage trigger. The front of it would be square with the brown wood-like pump handle wrapping around the entire forend. It would have a stock attachment point at the rear with a detachable stock reminiscent of a shovel AK. -The Lancer: Internal mag slide operated springer rifle with a Slingfire-like stock and a bolt handle that can clip into either side of the slide and comes down near the trigger guard for "mad minute" style shooting. Barrel attachment point up front, for a barrel covered for its full length by foam with a foam bayonet at the end(to make the bayonet more melee-safe).
That would go well with a personal headcanon idea of the original ZombieStrike line being a paramilitary force created by survivors of the zombie apocalypse standardizing blaster designs to better defend against the zombie hordes. Personally I like to think ZombieStrike 2.0 would be a desperate attempt to rebuild this militia I dubbed the ZombieStrike Corps and upgrading the original ZombieStrike Corps arsenal shown by the original ZombieStrike line and introducing new blasters that are more capable to try and push the zombies back and regain the territories the original ZombieStrike Corps managed to claim to rebuild the world and civilization/society.
I don't know why I'm starting to get my 2016 type of RU-vid recommendations but I'm here for it. I was a nerf kid growing up and I think I still have some dart tags guns in my closet some were.
21:26 the Nerf Gel blasters show that Hasbro, in fact, _can_ design usable, ergonomic, and aesthetically-pleasing blasters. They just need to make dart blasters that well.
I dont know if you will see this comment, BUT THIS TYPE OF CONTENT IS PEAK!!! i enjoyed this so much i hope you do this for all of the nerf lines, vortex, doomlands, rebelle, the cheap ass ones, all of it! This video was just amazing thank you for putting that kind of work into it for us to watch! Cant wait for the nerf zombie vids
The only possible use for the angle grinder is for a theoretical mod (that i really wanna do but i don't wanna buy one) is for chopping out a lot on the front, remove every blaster part of the blaster, a motor on it and replace the disk for a massive foam saw so you can use it... As a angle grinder.
I probably should have told you sooner but the Crossfire Bow was actually a reskin of a Blazefire. I think it was from either N-Strike or N-Strike Elite hence why it doesn't look like a ZombieStrike blaster!
Great job! Appreciate all the effort you put in. Love retrospectives, especially since I thrift. I have bought Zombie Strike blasters just for the aesthetic, knowing that they are crap. It’s my favorite series. Wait scratch that, you should do Doomlands. Oh shoot, Rebelle is dope too…
7:37 I know this is a video about zombie strike but can I just say that the sweet revenge is still my favourite blaster to this day. Super comfy grip, amazing shell with an Evan better paint job. God I love it.
I'm glad Hammershots were still being sold new on Amazon when I got into the hobby in late 2019. I'm glad Hammershots are still available new as I type this! The Red is dope.
@@WalcomS7 this was a super fun video I’m sure it took a ton of work but just know that everything about it was great from the excitement and positivity, to the dancing🤣, to the nerf suicide💀, it was a joy to watch. 👏
I still own a crossfire with the bow arms. I honestly have no idea how anyone ever lost them, given how i used to do stupid shit like taking the bow arms off of the blaster and using them as a sling and i still have them
I had a dominator once, but my cousin left it outside and it got destroyed by the elements which required it to be thrown away due to rusted internals and apparently the front handle broke off.
I really like the Zombie Strike line. Some of the blasters are so so but they all look awesome and the ideas were great. Move into elite 2.0 what happened? Thanks for putting all this together Walcom Thanks Bots for the Revoltinator footage.
I loved the zombiestrike line but i had a few favourite blasters and they are Hammershot Sledgefire Slingfire Scravenger Brainsaw Though if the line is stopping, im going to be sad. Also its the reason why i love nerf
Some of Zombie Strike’s charm came from all this little details in the shells of the blasters, like screwdriver grips, barbed wire wrapping, bike chains, pliers, screws and bolt, and all the other parts. Made me love those blasters so much. These new blaster for Zombie just don’t do it with the dips/skins on the shell. These printed details feel like cheap clutter and graffiti, and it’s just too busy to look at. I know those details are expensive to add, but it’s disappointing to lose.
