I went on Contiki's Rome to Barcelona by Train trip a couple of months ago. Since posting my vlogs, I have received a handful of questions about the trip. I found this video so helpful. I’ve got my first contiki booked for September this year and I’m so glad to know that I’m not the only 30 yr old worried about feeling uneasy about the age difference and if I’d be the oldest one there and how I’d get along with everyone, so it’s really good to know that you also felt the same and were still able to make friends and enjoy the trip. It makes me feel a lot better about my upcoming trip.

Yay! You are definitely not alone in feeling like the age gap might get in the way of connecting with other people on the trip. Since there are so many different personalities in the group and everyone comes with the intent to have fun, age tends not to be an issue. I hope you have a blast on your trip!

EF make it so hard to find their travel companies if you don't know about them. I had never heard of EF Go Ahead Tours until you mentioned it here. I've travelled with Contiki and Topdeck who have more of a presence where I live. I've never seen EF advertising anything here except their exchange programs. I definitely recommend group travel however, it's a great way to get started with travelling or to travel in a stress free manner, so long as you turn up at the bus in the morning you'll be good

I wonder if it’s because certain companies are based in certain countries and therefore target their advertising more heavily to that country. I feel like I get way more ads for EF since I went to their website than other companies. I agree that group travel companies can be a great way to get started in traveling. Thanks for watching!

This was super helpful for someone like me who is interested in group travel! My 18th birthday is in less than a year, and these Contiki trips seem super fun, so I kinda wanna go. Would I be able to find people my own age/still get along with people who are older than me? Also, are these trips LGBTQ-friendly?

Thank you! I’m glad you found it helpful. I think you should definitely go on one. Yes, I think you would have no issues finding people going that are close to your age as well as getting along with people on the trip. I think Contiki and EF Ultimate Breaks leans more heavily 18-mid20s, so I was more hesitant being on the higher end of the age range. Since everyone on the trip signs up for it because they are excited for it, it creates a really fun and enjoyable atmosphere. It’s like you are all going through the same thing and form a bond because of it. I think these trips are definitely LGBTQ friendly but that can vary to a degree based on the different people who sign up for the trip and the culture of the countries visited.
