Even if it isn't good, I do respect the original Bibleman. The creator wanted to make the show out of passion and you could clearly see the crew were having tons of fun making it. I'd rather watch a heavily flawed show with heart than a well made show with no heart.
You know, maybe if the demon villains had a monster form, maybe they would’ve got less complaints. Although, since Power Rangers still got complaints about violence. . . There really is no pleasing the soccer moms lol
I remember when Willie Aimes came to my local small ass church dressed as Bibleman, he even signed one of my bibles as Bibleman, which in hindsight I find extremely weird. I later found out his successor went to the exact same church I was attending at the time.
If there are 5 lies, then "there 6 lies" is a lie, but then there are 6 lies so "there 6 lies" is a truth, that means there are 5 lies so "there 6 lies" is a lie, but then there are 6 lies so "there 6 lies" is a truth, etc etc...
Bibleman's best elements are its tongue in cheek imitations of Adam West as Batman in style. At least, I always assumed those were intended to be humorous imitations of the older superhero show!
I'm a Christian too and even as a kid I was like "oof!" I even remember that opening of Bibleman picking up a bible and being given the powers and cringing.
it’s honestly a good thing I never grew up watching Bibleman, let alone hear of it at the time. I’m really surprised that you’re actually talking about this again. I remember you talking about it on your old channel, TASProductions about 5 years ago. It’s so great that you’re doing it again.
I'm not Christian and Christian media tends to be hit and miss with me, but Bibleman is just fun enough to be able to have the religious affiliation much more out in the open than the other stuff I like (Touched by an Angel might be tied though). Maybe I'm just a sucker for that super suit
Random Fact: Silencing the Gossip Queen got into some hot water due to some people thinking the Gossip Queen was a Jewish stereotype. I kinda see it, but, I don't think it was enough to raise a fuss over.
I didn't grow up with Bible man although I was raised a Christian and still am I mostly watched VeggieTales as far as religious content but I found out about Bible man from a friend of mine fellow Christian and watch some of the episodes I think some of them can be enjoyed in that cheesy old superhero TV show kind of way the songs go a little bit harder than they need to not going to lie
Alway get fascinated by the existence of Bibleman and his "so bad is good" status, A american tokusatsu Funny how it's fitting the music of Spamton and Jevil for 2 kool for Skool and Cheater
Talk about a blast from the past. I only have vague memories of this show myself. Ironically, I remember Adventures In Odyssey and McGee and Me more than I do Bibleman. Even Donut Repair Club. Added just to make fellow Christians feel old lol.
Bibleman needs a good reboot that has a more modern day budget and an actually interesting plot and characters and giving characters flawed and more human
I watched all of Bibleman the Animated Series. They ruined many classic villains, they removed the fight scenes, villain songs, and U.N.I.C.E, They changed way too much, it isn't laughably corny anymore, it's just so run-of-the-mill and ugly. I love classic Bibleman, even Powersource, Its low-budget and bad acting made me and my nephew laugh out loud. They sucked all the tropes that made Bibleman so great right out. I may be nitpicking when I say this, but I think the episode titles are absolutely headache-inducing.
I have a cousin who's parents were formally strick christians and he wasn't aloud to watch Pokemon or anything like that But he could watch Superman and stuff like that
There is actually a different villain song for the Wrath of Rage episode. I remember a completely different song on my DVD of the episode. Pretty sure some other episodes have alternate songs as well, not sure as to why
I just heard of Bibleman for the first time while watching blimey cow. But I also haven't heard of veggietales until recently. I guess this is less of a thing in the German speaking world among Christians.
This show always seemed like a bootleg VeggieTales to me, even as a kid. (Heck, _Divided We Fall_ actually has a Larry-Boy jab in it. They knew what they were doing.)
Growing up in a Christian household (29 here) I remember three distinct Christian children shows my uncle was fond of having my cousin's and I watch at that was VeggieTales, The Donut Man and Bibleman. We were raised on the original StarWars movies too so Bibleman had a unique interest to us as kids and now we look back on those memories with both nostalgia, a good laugh and a hint of cringe lol
28:25 I actually found out why Brian left the show. In an interview, he shared that his wife was pregnant and he wanted to be with his family. Huge respect to him. ✌🏻
I remember for a brief time my GA's leader would bring in her son's Bibleman tapes when she had a headache and didn't feel like teaching us.... I hated every second of it and prayed for the day we'd watch Veggietales instead. That day never came. I hated every second of it.
I'm currently writing a screenplay for a cinematic reboot of the series. I figured I'd pitch it to Kirk Cameron and the Kendrick Brothers, see if they'd be interested in picking it up, turning it into something. And this is only the first draft; I plan on writing two more after I complete this one. It's kind of gonna have an MCU-type of tone going with it; the fun, bright, colorful superhero adventure filled with action, heart and humor. It's going to explore the origins of BibleMan, who Miles Peterson was and how he was chosen by God to become a superhero, and his partnership with Coats. He's going to be facing off against both Fibbler and Gossip Queen working together who, like Loki working for Thanos in The Avengers, they're working for Primordius Drool. In this draft, I reinvented Gossip Queen as a satire of Harley Quinn since Fibbler was already a satire of Joker, though I plan to make her closer to her original counterpart in the other drafts. Like their show counterparts, they too have a goal to destroy a church youth choir, who, in this draft, comprises of Lia Martinez, Josh Carpenter, and Melody, (reinvented as Josh's sister rather than Lia's cousin in the show), and Cypher, who in this current draft, is Coats' son, setting up the Bible Adventure Team for the sequels. The script will also feature a mid-credits scene featuring Drool sending Luxor Spawndroth to succeed where Fibbler and Gossip Queen failed, setting him up to be the next big bad for the sequel, and furthermore, when he fails, Drool will take matters into his own hands, setting him up for the grand finale.
6:40 I believe the 6th lie could be like a meta thing. Like it's a lie that there are 6 lies when there are actually 5 but then if that is a lie then there are actually 6 lies so what is true and what is not 🥴
Willie Aames also played Hank the Ranger on the 'Dungeons & Dragons' cartoon in the early 80s. He was also married to the actress who played The Gossip Queen.
I did grow up with it. It was VHS era(yeah I show my age a bit), Much like you I had this because I wasn't allowed to watch much. But Veggietales and this were two of the things and the major ones for myself. Actually my first one I ever watched was Gossip Queen though I didn't see Fibbler for a couple of years after watching that one. I had bounced around a lot. I can't remember, but I do think my second one I saw, the one I remember getting for the first time, was Incredible Force of Joy. And because of that and maybe just the message and tone in general, it's my favorite of them. Keep in mind, I haven't seen any of them in almost two decades, but I've remembered having some attachment to that one. I pretty much liked them all, I do think the last one I saw was Fight for Faith and even then I was growing weary of it. Yeah, I do agree, Bryan Lemons made that show, if it wasn't for his fun with the over-the-top nature of the villains, I would not have enjoyed it as much as I did. And the ones with him in it were definitely my favorite. Thanks for uploading this, I look for Bibleman reviews and such when I get nostalgic but not much new in many years. Yeah I know it was a lesser known or liked show as opposed to Veggietales, I will surely co-sign on the fact that it's better with that classic era, but it's definitely still a major part of my childhood. Thanks.
I like "Conquering the Wrath of Rage". It was the first episode of Bibleman I saw growing up, and I watched it on vhs multiple times. Honestly I'm excited to see there are more episodes because I only got to watch the toxicity, rage, and "Rotan Guie" episodes and the stage show with "Rap Scallion", though I think I'll skip the episodes before shadow of doubt...
Ex-Christian here. I'm not the target audience but I'm glad this video opened my eyes to some of the merits of this ridiculous show. (Also appreciate the undertale music in the background)
I went to a christian private school when I was in elementary school. My teacher would often show us episodes of the show back in 2000 lol. I don't think anyone knew about anything back then of course.
Jeez... this unlocked a memory. I had a VHS tape with an episode of this show alongside an action figure. I grew up Mormon and no longer am (long story short, the Bishop told my stepdad our family "wasn't a sound investment"). So no flack to anyone who is still devout, i just got dealt a bad hand. Edit: pretty sure the episode i saw on the VHS tape is The Six Lies. Edit 2: The World Revolving is ironically fitting for The Cheater. XD
Man I thought I was gonna have to throw these hands in the name of the lord. I picked up a couple Bibleman dvds at a thrift shop a couple weeks ago and that shit was dope.
What a strange coincidence that the first two villains are themed around lies and rumors. Just like Fib and the Rumor Weed from the first two Larryboy episodes. Hmm...
Just to note, Willie Aames didn’t leave the show on his own accord. He was fired. Why? Because he injured himself while moving set pieces during one of the live shows and Pamplin saw that he couldn’t do his job as quickly as they wanted so they just straight up fired him.
couple of things 1. he basically listed off all the "good" christian shows in that sequence alone...mostly 2. this dude is very well known for liking veggietales; in fact, his first channel was basically a veggietales fan channel (reviews, top lists, and most infamously, veggietales abridged)
Counterpoint: bibleman is actually one of the only good christian shows. It is entertaining whether you are secular or not, often has NUANCED takes on the morals such as the prince of pride arc, and doesnt skimp on the fun music or effects. I think it is a masterpiece personally.
For the power source section, you skipped out on the “combating the commandment of confusion” episode. But honestly I’m unsure if I should consider that an episode since it was a live show, but now that makes me wonder, are you also planning on reviewing the live performances of bibleman or am i too late?
I think I have an answer as to how the villains could come back. Demon have already been judged and are damned beyond salvation. When they get shipped back to Hell so to speak it is us that bring them back by inviting them. My guess is that the original "killing" them was just for dramatic effect. I don't think they tried to make it like they were literally killing beings that cannot be killed.

No wonder I never heard of this as a kid! This can't compete with Isis, Shazam, Different Strokes, The Facts of Life, cartoon Hercules, Wacky Races, Hanna Barbera, Fat Albert, The Muppets, Gilligan's Island, Alice, Star Treck, Happy Days, MASH and Disney.
Honestly, I think some of the criticisms are not valid. Low production value is not a true criticism since it had a low budget. A show being goofy and camp is more of a criticism of a style than of a show, since that is more subjective. The criticism of the villain "forcing" her to lie is just a misunderstanding. Christianity believes that demons tempt people to do bad things; but it is still the individual with free will who gives in or not. Yet, as we know about addiction, once a wrong is committed it becomes all the easier to do the next time and can even become complete enslavement. Addiction is a complex thing. But the point is to do your best to not give in to begin with and to use your free will to try and escape the entanglement if you did give in. In all honesty, there are kids shows with higher budgets even today that have awful nonsensical principles being taught, or even nonsensical plots with no lessons whatsoever. It seems to me that many people just hated what the show was trying to do; and rather than admit that, they took it out on everything else about it. That's fine I guess. But I don't see the same passionate scrutiny on secular shows with or without high budget. I remember when I was younger I had never heard of this show before. I told a friend that I had a lot of fear and anxiety about all sorts of things. His family had tapes of Bibleman, and he put on an episode about fear. I thought it was silly yet entertaining. And the scripture quotes helped me to understand how I should deal with being scared. I never became a fan of the show. But I didn't understand why so many hated it. Anyway, that is my take.
The Bibleman songs kinda have the same vibe as the 4Kids theme songs have, while they’re not very good as far as songs go but man are they catchy and memorable!
What good is it? I ask you please. Is everyone losing their mind? How can everyone wake up so happy while I just waste my time? Some people find lots of joy when they see a puppy rolling in the grass. I look at it as a dog who makes a mess. Honestly, I couldn’t care less. Nothin makes me happy! That’s about all I can remember, but not bad for 20 something years later.
Even I noticed it in this video with the Too Cool for School guy and his elongated nose, so yeah... Still, I really like the costumes and the lighting of the show, I miss low budget productions like this, but there is no denying that there are some pretty bad elements here, hopefully inserted by the set designer and not the creator. It doesn't mean the show has not merit nor legacy, if we write off all problematic art we lose most human artistry, but the problematic elements need to be confronted before any positives can be discussed.
@@anneoneal3865 I seem to remember a certain act of anti semiticism in the bible with a cross that idk is supposed to be the WHOLE IMAGE of everything we stand for is to not prosecute a jew for his religion etc
I’m this hole show feels like the 60 Batman mix with bible. As a Christian. I’m not always big fan of bible based shows (beside veggie tales. That show is my childhood) but this show feels like a bad but good show.
