Today I am on the quest to find the best skating rink in New York City. Follow along as we check out the iconic flippers skate rink in Rockefeller Plaza, Discoasis, pier 2 in brooklyn, and hopefully prospect park! Let me know what you think of the roller skating rinks in NYC.

that's the weird thing about NYC is the complete lack of a decent rink.. like a real rink with good wood flooring.. even just a cement flooring would be fine but they keep using that weird plastic sh** There's a lucrative business opportunity in there somewhere! space is just the limiting factor..

Skating rinks, pool halls, and bowling alleys were shuttered all over the city. They don't generate enough money for the price of NYC square footage. Skaters took the culture to the parks and streets.

This is a huge part of why I would never move to NYC.. the lack of actual, proper roller rinks is insane. I’ve wondered if it’s the cost of real estate versus operating costs not being sustainable. There are other expensive cities that have good rinks, like LA.. but even LA has a much lower real estate market than NYC.

You didnt miss out on anything not goin to discoasis. I went there on my birthday and it was that day I realized theres nothing more important in a rink than the floor. As amazing as the ambience was, it did not make up for the terrible plastic floor that all these rinks in NY are riddled with. You missed out on probably the only one you wouldve enjoyed lol, hopefully you could make it out to prospect park next time

I'VE always thought those places were specifically made to hurt ppl , i love skating and growing up in my home country Mexico i would watch these places on movies always thought they looked super cool and fun to skate move to america and for school i went to one of these that we had in our city it wasn't at all what i expected extremely slippery and i felt like it was no fun at all couldn't even really skate and im good at rollerblading ... still great video to watch 😀👌

Yeah that’s the bad part about nyc they don’t have a lot of rinks. The rink in prospect park might be good in Brooklyn and I’m not sure about the new one that opened up

Disco Oasis floor is even more slippery and UNEVEN! OMG it was so horrible. You can't even "let the dog off the leash." Great music. To me it was a solid 2. Prospect park is weird and felt fake/superficial. UGH. At least the floor is better. Rate it about a 4. The rinks near me suck too. So hard when all your favorite rinks close down. Sad.

If you use the proper wheels on plastic tiles it's not slippery. Change your wheels.

That first rink was so sad. It looks about the size of half a basketball court and seems to only serve as a tourist trap. They need to do better.

You forgot the one inside the old salvation army building in brooklyn and the most famous one of all in central park in skaters circle every weekend spring summer and fall runned by the central park dance skaters association check out the many youtube videos. Do you're do diligence and research before making a vid. I almost forgot and you skate on inlines they have on or near 72nd street place just for you guys with cones set up if you are a real inliner you would know what they're for i took pics of the competition they held there. If you are going to make a vid of skating rinks anywhere don't insult you're viewers by wearing inline instead of quad skates that's what's making a comeback not inline skating!🙃
