I wish you were my neighbor lol. I'd love to help! i couldn't get volunteers either. The rain just killed me as well. Things didn't get put up because I ran out of time, only so much you can do by yourself. Then the rain stopped, but the temps kept falling. Only had about half the kids this year. Oh well.

Just a helpful hint on the tents, if u put pool noodles in the corners and where the legs are in middle you won't have to keep dumping water off. It rounds it so it naturally sheds off. Great Halloween presentation!

The drive-in was inspired to say the least, what a great way to use the cars and any zombies you just happen to have milling about. :D Also, no one would notice anything you pointed out, the mark of a true haunter, wanting everything little thing to be perfect but it all works out in the end. The rain though. We plan and plan and Mother Nature has other spooky plans. All I can say is, as usual, I loved the walk through. I'm going to watch again and again. I truly hope you get more volunteers next time. That's RIGHT up my alley. Wish I lived closer to help, every little battery, light or movement mishap would've been righted for you. Well, you and Tum deserve a rest and I look forward very much to your next videos and hauls.

I'ts sad that the bad weather effected Halloween so much this year, it seems like mostly everybody I know had bad weather. I've been doing Halloween displays for 10 years and this was the worst year weather wise and my decoration suffered because of it. but it makes me less depressed knowing that us Halloween people were in it together ! Next year we all need to get better at anti-rain spells !!! P.S. love the drive in, it's the perfect thing for that front area !

If the vampire inflatable uses fewer than four tethers and four stakes for the upper anchor points, the problem should be easily fixed. I have an eight foot short circuit ghost that refused to stay upright, and it was because it was only anchored at the upper half by two tethers. I used two additional tethers and stakes from Christmas inflatables (which were not missed since it was Halloween) and put an additional tether on each of the two anchor points. It has worked perfectly for the two years after I discovered that technique. I wish that Gemmy would just include four anchor points, four tethers, and four stakes for each level of the inflatable, since I also use four for the base, despite there also only being two anchor points there.

I'm sorry you didn't get any volunteers, aside from the nice lady. I would definitely have helped, had I been able to. This was really interesting. =) Thank you for sharing all this. =) I'm sorry you didn't get to do all the things you wanted to, and that the rain caused so much trouble. Yes, I LOVE that flying crank ghost lady. ;) I LOVE the spiders on your table in the ending clip of this video.

I'd say yes now remember we're close to christmas so there are tons of timing devices I'm sure you can use with all these awesome Halloween animatronics.. anyhow loved the walk thru 🕷🎃👻🎃🕷 Happy Haunting Pal!!

The rain did put a damper on our outdoor Halloween party as well. The cheap party tents from amazon worked great, until the heavy winds came and blew them over. Oh well, better planning for next year
@HappyHaunting
@HappyHaunting 4 года назад
I was so worried about the wind. I bought some weights to put on the bottom. So they did alright I guess. We had them up and down in a day. The thing that really caused me problems was the water pooling on the top of the tent and having to constantly push it off.

I dated a man that was a councilman for his town where they started a pumpkin festival. I said I'd help out that year for a couple hours and ended up spending all day on a trebuchet pumpkin launcher, since none of the teenagers in the area bothered to volunteer for a single spot, I think that schools should start giving credits for volunteering. Parents never seem to think it matters.

I really like and appreciate this “debrief”. I don’t think I’ve come across a video with behind the scenes info. When I did my prop set up I came across some issues with things falling over, lighting , and sound. In the end it was fine as far as trick o treaters were concerned but I knew about the glitches n it bothered me. Thanks for ur frankness. If possible I’d like to see how u plan the lighting. 🎃
@HappyHaunting
@HappyHaunting 4 года назад
Honestly we didn’t do a whole lot. A couple solar spot lights on the pumpkins, regular flood lights to light up the drive in, the inflatable area provided their own light, a few fire and ice type bulbs in the garage just to add interest and some strobe lights here and there to light up props and the spider room barrels.
@mildredchester

Maybe you could get a large sheet of clear plastic-firm stuff-and stick it in the ground behind Vampire#1 to act as a brace or splint? That could help hold up other very tall inflatables. The toxic walk through was a favorite of mine, how about having some zombies hauling the barrels and dripping goo next year? I also love the floating spirit in the little house and all the figures in your house., the fish net with bone fish was nice,

I loved this review video. I think you should make this a thing each year going forward. It was neat to hear some of the ideas that you had. I feel your pain with weather and inflatables falling over and just running out of time. Been there, done that. Lol. But overall amazing job. If you need some haunted movie ushers next year I’ll grab my crew and we will drive down with costumes and my popcorn cart. Lol. I want next year to be epic. Halloween on a Saturday, on the end of Daylight savings time with a Full Moon.

Okay Sir Mike, i think i might be able to help you with some of your problems: 1. Trenton Mills Beef netting. Perfect for spiderwebs and reusable 2. Use pool noodles between the fabric and frame (corners) to prevent sagging during rains 3. (In Texas) students get credit for volunteering, might be something to look into in your area 4. You might need to let people know about photo ops. (don't know how many times i did) Hope this helps. God bless and btw??? really great to see you go through each section and really looking at your haunt to see what works and what does not work.

I'm new here and loving it! The scarecrow that I bought this year, came with an interesting set up that really worked in keeping it the scarecrow upright. There is a pipe that you drive into the ground with a twine that is attached to the post on the scarecrow. The post slides into the pipe. The twine is positioned on the pipe and post in a way that the twine was short enough to prohibit the post from coming out of the pipe. You may want to try that on some of your items that kept falling over. It might take some math to get it all the measurements balanced and correct, but it might be worth it.

I wish Halloween was more towards late summer when its dryer , don't you ? I think you did an amazing job with all the weather issues you had. . I can't believe only one person volunteered to help . OMG if I lived around there you would have to chase me away ! I'm not sure when you put your request out but maybe you could contact the local HS in the area . I'm not sure your schools do a community service requirement before graduation but in ours all Seniors have to have given at least 20 hours of community service to graduate . There is a Halloween trail our community does (well did ) not sure they are still doing it but my son did his community service hours there dressing up like a Werewolf and then more hours at the Fire house . Maybe go right to the source the HS... Just food for thought ..

Oh weather... we had a different problem on Halloween day, high temps and humidity. But rain when dealing with hooking up cords and such to electric while it’s raining- that would make me nervous! And kids never do what you think they’ll do, no matter how thoroughly you plan. 🙄 That said I think the overall effect was fantastic!
