I think one of the things that Jay didn't comment on that I have noticed and appreciate is the amount of work that goes into the color grading your content. Combing the color grading, the detailed work on your B-roll shots along with the lighting and composition of your main shots, and you definitely produce videos that have a much more cinematic feeling than is typical of tech RU-vid.

Hey Jay. Since you're not using the Alex drawers for storage, why not drill passthrough holes at the back of it and put your power strip in them? This is what I've done with my own setup. Cables are managed and channelled under the table but they all lead to the drawers where they're plugged in to a power strip in one of the drawers, where all the access wires also reside. 😁

I really liked Sara Dietschy's setup she had in her New York studio. She gave a very detailed explanation of why she had what she had, flexible lighting, DSLR mounted far from her face to help keep her eyes from looking down even when reading from a screen. She also had lots of redundancy since she did scheduled interviews and couldn't risk losing content if something went wrong during recording.

Hey Jay, you're pretty handy with a circular saw. What about constructing a cabinet to replace the double Alex drawers in the back corner? You could even leave the floor out of it and tuck the subwoofer back into it, saving a bit more space and looking a bit classier. Cut down a sheet of plywood, or start from some 4'x4' project panels. Glue, stain, and finish, and boom, done! I built my own desk out of 1x3s and a butcherblock counter top, and I love it. Was fun to combine woodworking and tech stuff.

@cardsfanbj

Honestly, I'm digging some of the Asus ROG Ikea stuff. Particularly the peg board and trophy case, but if you'd use it in your already dark room I would have preferred if they had a white option or stainless steel instead of the black. Or they do have metal pegboard at Home Depot or Lowes that you can get in stainless steel which looks good, too, but I do like the ROG theming on the Ikea one. Linus's setup was updated last December, prior to the picture used in this video, and he did a Logitech sponsored video taking care of the cable management. His clickbait title for the video was "It's time to break up." He did switch over to a wireless keyboard and mouse, as well as drilling holes through the desk to route cables underneath it as best he could.
@davidwood2253

How about some kinda patterned texture wall? like a spider web or fractal pattern? (perhaps some 90's holo stickers, lol) Also try sound dampening on ceiling or even along the top boarder of the walls which can be out of foci and help. My brother used a plywood board with foam attached to it which he could tuck into a closet when not streaming. His studio broke down into tuck-away props. The plants and multiple angled props, curtains ect from Canucks help dampen noise. I really enjoyed this video and will check out those other YT for setup ideas.

I don't have $200 for an legato Webcam I do happen to own a Canon slr. It's not much a hassle really, you just need a ac adapter to replace the battery pack, pretty standard stuff to have with an slr. Canon also supports drivers that turn most of their slrs hook directly in as a Webcam in windows. No capture card needed.

My favorite setup is my own :) I'll post a vid once it's back together. First I have to cut some of my motherboard tray to hide cables, right now they are in the way of the front air intake. I've managed to stuff a Threadripper (on a Creator board) into a 2003 beige case which was my first computer back then (Windows XP). I had to shorten the heat pipes and remove fins from the air cooler to make it fit in the case.

@@Jayztwocents No need to reply with the salty comment, especially when the guy you are replying to is kinda right. Linus streamed the WAN show from his TEMPORARY home set-up for over 16(?) months. You know, that show where his face takes up half of the screen. I'm glad he was using a DSLR for that, Luke wasn't and you could really tell the difference in video quality between the two. You either purposely took a 'worst-case scenario', or did absolutely zero research at all. Then tried to call him out for "flexing". Fast forward a few minutes later, there you are showing off your $4,000 speakers and acting like you aren't tryna flex yourself. Really like your channel but damn you can come across as a giant man-baby sometimes dude.

I can recommend using pine 1x12 for a desk material and using a darkish stain just looks great all the texture you get from the real wood grain and knots for a more clean look then toping off with a clear coat I built my desk out of pine and it’s been great note if you ever decide to use it pre drill holes you will split the wood entirely pine is considered “soft” but it’s plenty strong

Hardware Canucks does have beautiful Cinematography, very well put together sets and ready good looking lighting in all of their videos. It makes all of their videos pleasing to watch. My personal favorite set is Kyle's aka Bitwit. He has an awesome looking little Lian Li O11-D Mini build in the background that looks awesome. The whole floating shelf thing with lighting looks pretty good, and his wall mounted PC is also pretty bad ass. Overall, I definitely like it. Also love Paul's set. I know in the PC world using a TV in place of an actual PC monitor is a cardinal sin but I have tried the triple wide monitors and double and such, they just don't to catch the immersion level of my 75" tv. When playing games world of warships on a screen that size and sitting at it on a desk all you see is the ship no background nothing underneath and having to turn your head to look at the edges because you thought you saw a ship in the distance adds to the immersion. I don't play games that benefit from high refresh rate so being locked at 60 is fine for me
