Hi Friends! I hope you enjoy this video. I know I spoiled the ending with the title, but you know I am terrible with secrets! :) I really LOVE this foundation. Its pretty amazing... It looks SO natural, and leaves the skin looking so healthy. Its not a Full Coverage Foundation, so if you need a lot of coverage, this one is not for you. but if you need natural to medium, have dry skin, have textured skin, or have dull skin, this foundation really does give your skin life! Its so pretty.

Hi Friends! I wanted to pin a comment about the differences between this and the Face Atelier Foundation that I have also raved about being one of my favorites for mature, dry or textured skin... When I was a working makeup artist, I stocked Face Atelier in my kit because it was so versatile and looked beautiful on all skin types and ages. If I were still doing makeup, I would definitely add this Koh Gen Do foundation to my kit. The differences are: Face Atelier offers slightly more coverage (while still looking very natural on the skin), it has less of a dewy finish or glow than the Koh Gen Do. Koh Gen Do is more on the natural side of coverage, with a dewier supple finish. If your skin is more dry, I would go for the Koh Gen Do. If you want more coverage, I would go for the Face Atelier. Both wear beautifully throughout the day though, and I think they are equally great options.

@@JackOllie4 Yes! I think they are both good for all skin types honestly... the only exception maybe that oily skin prefer the Face Atelier over the Koh Gen Do (KGD is just more glowy),

Shannon Engelken it’s different ... the No7 has more color to it and will add a little color/coverage , this one is more of a setting powder only ... and this is better for under eye setting since it is so sheer ... But the No7 is so nice for smoothing skin, and adding a little more coverage

I’ve been using and loving this for years. I feel the coverage is similar to Charlotte Tilbury light wonder which is another favourite. I’m 54 and find both of these are great for mature skin.

The foundation doesn’t look too dark to me. You know what looks good on you and you always look gorgeous to me every single time I watch your videos which I love BTW! I ordered a set of your BK brushes and I am so excited to get them. I know it’s worth the wait because every beauty influencer on here raves about how wonderful they are! You skin is so amazing! Love them both. I wore the La Mer today... both have natural finish, wear really well day, I find the Koh Gen Do to be a bit more dewy and better for drier skin maybe... if oily or combo, I would lean towards LaMer

Yes Lisa! This has been one of my holy grail foundations for years, it's one of the very few i've found that doesn't cling to or exacerbate dry patches on my skin. Btw, you can get samples on the Koh Gen Do website if you want to try it/find a color match beforehand.

I cannot wait to see your thoughts on the AirWrap by Dyson (I have my thoughts on the AirWrap already since I got that before I got my dryer). I love the Dyson Dryer - best use of Ulta Points I have ever made! I just need to get a storage bag or the presentation box for it since the holiday sets were not out, but there are plenty of them on Amazon to check out. :). Love that foundation and power on you, very pretty look and exactly the type of finish I like for myself. This is similar to the Chanel CC cream I use right now (beautiful glow, does not settle, lasts until you take it off, very fresh looking, no touch-ups, a little goes a long way, and it buildable). Great for a long-wear glowy foundation. I use it with the Chanel brightening base (color correcting radiance primer in Mimosa - NLA - only Rose is available now a universal radiance primer base). I would love to test the powder you bought, it is beautiful and also look into the foundation as a possible alternative (always great to have several backup products to go to). Hi Lisa! I love my Dior Air Flash for my more "natural " days. But it can get quite pricey for $70 every 6-8 weeks. I'm definitely going to check out this foundation. It's gorgeous 💖

Thanks for sharing! Always fun to know how different products perform. Your experience as a makeup artist is very helpful. 😊. When I say I have dry skin I’m talking desert dry after menopause, but this might be worth a try. Even the GA luminous silk will cling to dry areas on driest days. Need to try Face Atelier. Need to tweak my prescription Retin-A and glycolic acids on my 54 yr skin. Oils, serums, etc help but some days, yikes! Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue is a fave.

I would love to see the la Meir as we don’t have the Koh Gen Do in Toronto as far as I know, but we’ve been locked down for over 15 months so perhaps one of our high end department stores might carry it now.

The Koh Gen Do website has the old formulation currently on last chance. I purchased 3 bottles for $100. I have not seen a huge difference between the new and old formulation. This foundation is awesome not only to wear by itself, but it is also great to mix with other foundations and to refresh your makeup. I have put this on top of other foundations at the end of the day when my makeup has gone patchy and it seems to fix everything! My favorite foundation!

I would love for you to review La Mer and La Praire Foundation. They are both expensive. I'm 60 yrs old and take care of my skin. All of a sudden I'm so dry. My favorite foundation is Face Atelier. It's great but I would like to try something new.

Beautiful! I would be interested in a La Mer foundation test. I was at Sephora today and purchased the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk quad, PT lip pencil and PT lip gloss. After a terrific interaction with an associate, I was happily given a sample of the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation while there. I'm looking forward in trying that foundation out. YT Influencers rave about it.

I got this foundation recently on lovelyskin.com. beatnick92 I got samples from the koh gen do website for ten dollars and I tried all Difft shades til I found my match. I prefer 113 on me. I could probably wear 013 which is pink toned but I rather not add more pink to my skin. The 113 is less yellow than 123. If your a little bit darker than me than you may be 123. Or maybe u need cool tones. Check out the website and order some samples. I got the sheer moist powder which is limited edition now.

After I read these comments I went to the YT channel of the girl who apparently must advertise for that company and she did swatches on her face (in you tube video) and I selected 113 for myself just eyeballing what she showed!! I guess that color is pretty common for regular Caucasian women in the US. I read that it is a Japanese company and the shades are for Japanese people and that's why they have that certain selection. Not too many cool shades you would see.mostly yellowish. I like that warm tone though. You already have the foundationn, but if you're interested , she is "girl go glam" and mostly that's what is about. Hey name is Molly. Thank you so much for your reply. I'd already decided to pay for samples myself. It's a good idea, I think.

I LOVE Shiseido Synchro skin Self-Refreshing foundation! I have mature skin with fine lines and wrinkles and crepey areas and it doesn't settle into them or accentuate them like others I have tried. I went out on a limb and purchased Armani luminous silk foundation and Dolce and Gabbana and oh my gosh they looked absolutely horrible on me! $150 worth of foundation down the drain! The Shiseido isn't full coverage but buildable. I love it. You hair is simply gorgeous by the way! ❤

I also thought the Armani Luminous Silk looked awful on me. Ive been going through the rounds with foundation trials. The new Fenty was horrible too. I just purchased the La Mer. Well see how it compares on my 49 yr old skin I also just started red light therapy. Its wonderful, and I highly recommend it for anti - aging. I bought a mask that uses light spectrum off Amazon. It was $69 dollars. My poor wallet.lol

@April M I have the Dr Dennis Gross light therapy mask and I stopped using it then my skin started to look a little dull, so I'm back to using it. I love to do it first thing in the morning. I love the LeMer foundation and I always get complimented on how nice my skin looks that day. It's pricy but I also notice my skin better the following day as well. I wonder about the Shiseido foundation?

Hi Lisa :) I've been using this foundation for a few years now mainly because it's hard to find a truly good match being of southern European descent ( Portugal) with fair/light skin and an olive (green) undertone (yes that's a thing). The shade 213 is my perfect shade match and the foundation is exactly how you described it! I love it! :)

I remember you doing a side by side video of matte foundation and a foundation with glow. My take away from that video was glowing foundation was not ideal for mature skin. Have you used this foundation with a beauty blender? I LOVE the old formula of KGD and still use it, but it won't be available much longer. I tried the new formula and it got oily on me, but thinking about trying it again with KGD powder and maybe a different application. I mix the shades 123 & 143 together, it might work for you too. Seems expensive, but my bottles last me over a year!

I saw another review on this but the problem with the high end (really expensive) foundations - especially if not easily available in the UK is that you have to be absolutely certain you are choosing the right shade and that is impossible to do as samples are not available if you can't find the brand in a shopping mall. I just can't figure out what it is that makes it so expensive.

This looks like a beautiful foundation. I love a natural looking foundation as I, personally, think a foundation should add evenness and should looking natural, not covering too much of any imperfections we have as it would look fake and it's not us. A foundation should enhance our looks not masking it. And personally I like natural ingredients, clean foundations the best. Harder to find though. Have to look into this foundation. Just an FYI. LovelySkin.com carries most of the Koh Gen Do products. They carry both of these and when I purchased mine, both were 25% off. They are 20% right now. They have it on sale quite often. The other thing, Koh Gen Do sells samples of the different shades so I ordered the light and medium ranges so I could knew what shade I wanted. I hate to spend that much on foundation and it’s a terrible match. Thought you’d like to know.

That was great, Lisa, and would be very interested in a La Mer wear test. I'm into natural looking foundations (for dry, mature skin). Also, interested in a Dyson airwrap demo. I have it and only reach for it once in a while and like the smoothing attachment. I find my hair has become dryer since using it, so I stopped. Thank you!!

Lisa, I video looked through your video list and I dont see a review of the new Shisedo foundation that is supposed to self-renew due to the hyaraulic acid in it. I have this foundation & it looks exactly like the Chanel les beiges healthy glow hydration & long wear foundation,but i paid $96 4 the koh gen do & $65 4 the Chanel,both r 1oz & they look identical on the skin.

I’m almost 50 with dry skin, and this foundation is my go-to. I hate that I love it so much because I don’t love the price! Their website had a discount code going on at the time, and so I bit the bullet, and now I’m in trouble because even my husband noticed how much better my skin looked. He didn’t think I was wearing any foundation until I pointed out how much lighter my sun/age spots were. I do have to add concealer over top if I I want fuller coverage on those spots, but I prefer that to having more or thicker product all over anyway. One last thing: Koh Gen Do’s numbering system isn’t like the typical ones I am used to. My shade, 143, is darker than some shades in the 200s and 300s. Each number stands for something, such as the undertone. I have medium skin that pulls slightly golden/peach, warm.

Hi Lisa - I absolutely agree with you...this foundation is just “the best”. I am 58 yrs old and have been using it for a few years now. You are right, it does look better on the skin after a few hours. I have strayed, trying many other foundations, but keep coming back to this one. Thank u for introducing this foundation to us mature gals!

Good morning Lisa. I’ve heard many great things about this foundation and it wore beautifully on you all day. I’ve always preferred a more satin-type of finish but lately with my skin looking more dry, dewey and supple seems like a better option. Would love to see a review of the La Mer also. Right now I’m loving my Charlotte Tilbury foundation. I use it with the Becca hydra-mist powder. I’ve gotten so many compliments from my coworkers. I am young 53 and my skin tends to be on the dry side. About the only thing I battle, other than dry skin, is faint hyperpigmentation and occasional undereye puffiness due to allergies.

We need some videos about which primary goes with each foundation the best --or at least a list of Foundations plus the most highly recommended primer to go with each one every time one is reviewed, because all of these people who do reviews use different primers and may even change primers mid review.

I’m not put off by the price but I live in Canada and I’m sure we don’t have this brand at any of our up end store I’m 69 and haven’t had any “work” done and didn’t like me with Botox or fillers so I’m all natural. I have dry skin and my colouring is very similar to yours after making a short story long my question is what brand would you recommend for a glowing (ish) foundation. Thanks

I don't think so! Someone commented on a video I raved about that product that it was too shimmery for them... it is pretty shimmery, its a refined shimmer but its definitely on the higher shimmery side .

kim f I have been using the HourGlass powder blush in Magenta (the mini goes a long way)...sometimes I add the CT Glowgasm to the apples of the cheek (lightly blend with a brush) on days that i feel either “tired” or am going to something special......I absolutely love the look.
