So the Robin Lehner deal actually had the leafs involved! It doesn’t really change anything as the leafs just helped retain a bit of salary and got a 5th round pick for it!
My sentiments exactly. Shouldve took Howard or bernier off the wings for this temporary injury problem. Worst case, u got 3 guys (howard not included) all battling for the #1 spot.
I’ve never really watched athenasio play. Oilers have 20 games left. If AA is put on that line immediately? Could Andreas score 30 pts? All the critics of Draisital and Kassian say “a pylon could score 50 on Connors wing” So if athenasio is a good player, can he hit ground running and score 15 goals + 15 assists? I wanna see Oilers do good. If Connor can click with someone right away here? I think it’d be awesome!
rugged english if AA is with Draisitl and McDavid then yes, he can put up 20-30 points with those two. He’s one of the fastest players in the league and has great offensive presence. If you are a oilers fan, be excited. It’s about to be a fun remainder of the season
Morgan Sticht I’ve been saying it’s a “very exciting time to be an Oilers fan” (on the emergence of Bakersfield and development of prospects the past year or two) I hope Leon’s line doesn’t get tampered with. Cult of hockey is saying AA likes to be a puck carrier. He needs to shed that preference. Connor is the puck carrier.
That line could be great, AA has potential to put up some numbers but on the flip side he has a horrible 2 way game one of the worst defensive forwards in the league his -45 says it all.
It would only be right that a 30 goal scorer would go and score 30 goals anywhere else. I got a feeling at least 1 of these 3 (total) 2nd rounders and the rest become something worthy of a good future with us though.
@@scummydummy the 2020 draft is fucking stacked so I'm certain we'll have a good shot at a player that works out well this year.. even in the 2nd round
Really cool trade deadline some trades I weren't expecting but the one cool one was Nick Ritchie going to Boston and his brother plays also with the bruins
@@nicknicknick7759 I agree with both of you on the Sheary trade. Also, there is a decent chance that Sheary will only be a rental considering the cap situation and the amount of restricted free agents that the Pens have.
@@shawnsmith6364 I should be honest. I haven't liked most of the decisions that JR has made over the years. Overpaying players, getting fleeced in trades, the complete disregard for some asset management. If the team does not win this year or next year, things are going to look very bleak.
This would be crazy: Slavin - Hamilton Skjei - Pesce Edmundson - Vatanen Healthy scrathches Fleury Van Reimsdyk Gardiner Unfortunately, this must indicate that Hamilton isn't coming back even for the playoffs and that the prognosis isn't looking good for Pesce either
TinnieTa21 canes fan here, he had a terrible first half, but he has been looking like his former self over the last couple of months, it’s most likely due to his back surgery
Yeah most of those Sharks deserve a cup win. even though pens are sworn enemies since they stole their ring 2015-2016 I believe. Hope Patrick wins and we get 1st and 2nd round picks. GO Sharks
Definitely smart to pick up Lehner Fleury is getting older and was still being overplayed I’m hoping we can somehow figure out a way to sign Lehner long term
Dallas, Boston and Florida were all showing interest but a trade never came to fruition. Guessing Boston and Dallas couldn't give up the picks Wilson wanted.
Fuck Dubas man honestly. He overpaid for a bunch of over glorified babies & let’s not mention the fact that he believes ONE tough player will help the leafs with their grit. Not to mention he traded Kadri, a guy who WANTED to be a leaf, for a defenseman that can only play on the power play. I also agree with what you’re saying because if you’re going to trade a couple of assets you might as well of traded a bit more to get Lehner who is better than Campbell. This team will not make the playoffs and I sincerely hope 2 of the guys that are getting paid $10 million are traded.
I don’t even know what to make of Chicago season. Stubbed their toe. Bumped their knee. Tripped. Lost their balance. Then they managed to fall on their face and their ass at the same time. I guess a pick for Gus is alright. Lehner was good add. But if he priced himself out of Hawks plans? It was good trade for Chicago to stock shelf I suppose. Good for Oilers. Great for Sens.
Gees Inc. Shaw injury was the first bad luck. Then Gus could not build on last year success. The Europe game didn’t help. We were on our second game when teams was on their fifth. (Not everyone has to deal with it. Who was our opponent? The Devils? They aren’t doing great either.) PK is working. Hopefully it can be good next year too. Strome and Dach can’t show up next year without trying to be strong enough for nhl. Kubalik has got to stay. Lil continuity in roster this time would be nice.
rugged english I’m almost positive it was the Flyers not the devils and flyers are doing great. I know for a fact CHI vs PHI was a game played overseas maybe the devils did too though I’m nit sure
L G R W you’re right. It was Oilers vs Devils last year. And both did not very good last year. Philly was at a point in nov 19 where their win/loss record was 10 & 11. So good on them. But, their big acquisition last year in Hayes has been healthy. I think if Andrew Shaw is healthy all year? Chicago Blackhawks win four or five more games already. And that’s the difference. How small the margin of error really is. Five games. Now they’re on outside wondering about next year. When they could be right in the thick of playoff battle. Crazy times.
rugged english Shaw is a good player but other teams have had legitimate star players go down and are still right there fighting for playoff spot such as CAR with Dougie Hamilton, he was leading the league in +/- when he got hurt also lead all D man in goals before his injury and was a strong Norris contender maybe only behind Carlson. Also CBJ has had several key pieces missing including (but not limited to) Seth Jones who isn’t too far from a Norris Level player himself, They missing Bjorstramd now as well and just got the goalie back. WPG, COL, NSH, VAN, ARI and EDM are a few other teams who at the very least have a solid chance to make playoffs and (imo) have had better players than Shaw out of their lineup. So I would say there are other more significant reasons to CHI not contending for playoffs than Shaw being injured
I’m so happy for my oilers, I’m sorry for you getting robbed for athanasiou but I liked that trade lol. I am a big Ganger fan so I was sad to see him go, but I hope he does good in Grand Rapids/Detroit. Also I’m glad to see your ok with the Green trade. I also don’t mind Detroit and I think the trades with Edmonton will help their future getting out of this rebuild
Canes shoulda traded for Craig Anderson instead of adding another defensive defenseman and using a 1st round pick in a derp draft to get him, dudes gonna be on the 3rd pairing and you're spending that much
This might be an unpopular opinion but I feel like the oilers won this trade deadline, it’s easy to say penguins or hurricanes won, but the oilers definitely made the smartest moves in my opinion and that will really benefit them in their playoff push. Andreas athanasiou is gonna look very good with Connor mcdavid.
Matthew Lynch, oh yeah no doubt they got a great deal, I’m sure everyone would agree, but I thought it kinda flew a little under the radar with the Vincent Trochek, and the Brady Skjei deals. Everyone’s main focus was on those deals, and I felt it didn’t get enough credit for how much it impacted the oilers. The oilers are serious contenders for the pacific division right now, not an oilers fan btw.
With the rumors of the Pens going for Thornton, I was so glad to see them get Marleau, instead. He's still pretty quick on his feet and can add some solid veteran experience to the team.
The Oilers also acquired goaltender Angus Redmond and a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2022 from Anaheim in exchange for defenceman Joel Persson.
HaZarD_ Frenzy12 wasn’t too happy when I heard he was traded, but when I saw what we got I was okay with it. Hopefully in the next couple years things will turn around
@@hazard_frenzy1258 pageau has greatly overachieved this year. Now hes a third line center making 5 million per year for 6 years and will go back to scoring 10-15 goals per season. It was a good trade for Ottawa.
gimmick it was a good trade for both teams. Islanders needed a 2nd/3rd line center bad that can put the puck in net. They already have good prospects and can throw away a 1st rounder to make a run this year. It won’t kill the islanders unless JGP greatly underachieves
OhNyquist about the Hutchinson trade: "I don't think this trade will affect either franchise too much" 6 months later: Hutchinson is starting second round playoff games for Colorado and has put up a .920 save percentage
uRose what’s stopping the Hawks from signing him on July 1 again. They aren’t going anywhere this year playoff wise so ship him out now for stuff and then sign him again
Im a Panthers fan and this Trocheck trade was a long time coming. Ever since Tro injured his ankle a couple seasons ago he has not been the same since his return. He's a turnover machine now and can't seem to hit the net with any consistency. I will miss Vinnie but, I think he needs a fresh start somewhere to see if he can get his game back. And Im hoping Haula can find his game here and things work out for everyone!
As soon as i got the text i was wondering what you'd think of the Gagner trade. Thought the Wings would get more as well but like you said Stevie Y just wanted to be done with the situation but coincidentally helped out his old GM in the process
It's sad... that kid has a ton of talent and its wasted in a hole like buffalo. That team is like a jehovah's witness trying to spread their stupid myth... just wandering around without a purpose...
Oilers. You guys are so stacked. Athanasiou is going to get 50+ points with a good team and he can then be traded again for way more than Detroit traded him for. Oilers are celebrating tonight
Vegas really needed that Lehner trade. Its really not that weird if you put some thought to it. Fleury is having his worst year and he has been overplayed so much in this and last year. On top of that, Subban has been even worse and can't help Vegas give breathing and resting time for Fleury.
I don't see the Oilers putting AA with McDavid, frankly. More likely they put AA with Ryan Nugent Hopkins and Yamamoto, and then put Draisaitl back with McDavid and Kassian.
MultiCappie that’s a great combo, although, Draisaitl is really giving Yamamoto a great push to full potential and giving Nugent-Hopkins back his 1st overall talent
NHL Master no he was brought in because they overplay fleury and have no competent backup. All of the real contenders in the league have 2 solid goaltenders not 1.
Was really opting for the rangers to be more active this deadline. I’m ok with keeping kreider as he’s a great leader, term little long. Glad we got rid of Skjei, he’s got all the tools physically to be a good defenseman but he just doesn’t have the brains. Wish we offloaded Strome for essentially anything and Smith for a stale slice of burnt toast
Mikeisabosss 112211 im upset because he wont be able to get a cup here in San jose and it sucks but i will definitely be watching him in the playoffs hopefully he does get a cup.
A little bit disapointed by the Athanasiou trade...we could at least have a 1st rounder,BUT i'm sure that Steve Yzerman knows what he does!!!!LET'S GO RED WINGS!!!!
Sabres are 6 points out of a playoff spot with 20 games to play. With the way Florida and Toronto are playing don’t act like it’s a lost cause. Sabres have played well in there last 10 and have shown the past two season we are capable of going on a long win streak. Don’t count them out
I saw alot of hate for the Rosen - Huch trade but, Rosen played in the AHL and Timmins would be called up before him anyway. Huch will only see NHL play cause Gru is out and is a better option than Hunter Miska.
Actually the devils retained 50% of Wayne Simmonds salary. Also the conditions are it turns to a 4th if Simmonds plays 10 games OR Buffalo makes the playoffs
Really like this deal as a panther fan. Trocheck has been awful, and haula and wallmark are gonna balance out the lineup. Also haula and priskie rooted for the panthers as kids, so that’s pretty cool
As a hawks fan, I must say that a 3rd round pick was pretty fair for Gus. He might be a great quarterback, but he is a major defensive liability and it’s honesty sometime sickening to watch.
@@lusarima yah ik its its gonna be a split tandom, obviously Fleury is a good goalie, imo Lehner is the better goalie b/c of his size advantage and his positional play and reflexes on par with Fleury, either way Vegas wont have to worry about the goaltending like they did when Subban was playing
Chuck "im actually Paul Holmgren" Fletcher gives up a 5th for a healthy scratch but i like the Grant trade since he is a good PK and faceoff % that can play over a very young Conner Bunnamen
How come you didn't mention Chris Kreider resigning? He was the biggest trade bait this year, and even tohugh he didn't changed team, it had effect on the trade day as a whole.
Like as a Sabre’s fan idk how to think love the pickup of Simmonds for a low round conditional pick but the Kachin deal is weird to me, I thought sheary did just fine on a lower line and kahun has had to deal with injuries all year, idk I’m kinda happy but wished we got one more d man or a goalie like quick even if the contract isn’t so good
Sir Deadpool kahun as i said has been injured all year we don’t know how good he’ll be and Simmonds is just what you said physicality he’s not much of a scorer anymore and possibly a good pk guy
Buffalo is only 6 points out of a playoff spot, playing incredible as of late with Toronto and Florida playing awful as of late. I'd count on that pick becoming a 4th rounder
