I have just learned that bibliosmia is a word (meaning the smell of a good book) and I am very excited about it 😂 also, watch part 2 of this video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t4SiiLC-rDo.html ❤
Oooo this is like the word petrichor. ..now I just need a perfume scented with rose, petrichor, and bibliosmia. Yes I want to smell like an outdoor library with a rose garden after it rains.
I now have 5 new books on my TBR: The Atlas Six, Grey Bees, The City We Became, Sleeper and the Spindle, and If Not Winter, Fragments of Sappho. I love your book reviews and how you give a comprehensive view in so few words! 📖
I really recommend "The girl with the Louding voice" It tells the story of a young girl in Nigeria who is forced to marry an older man, but dreams of getting a education. It's written so beautifully that you can imagine you are there.
Wow, your one sentence reviews are so sharp, thoughtful and seem to really get to the essence of the book and your experience with it. I'm so impressed! You're a star literature student. 🤩📚 Also, Yoda is absolutely adorable, I love the little sounds she makes 🥺
I'm currently reading On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong and so far I love it. My 18yo daughter read it and loved it. I added Endurance, Grey Bees, Noor, Love After The End, Things Fall Apart, Sorrowland, Persepolis, The Yield, The Posthumous Memoirs of Bräs Cubas, and Sea of Tranquility to my TBR so a massive ❣️THANK YOU❣️ for sharing your books and reviews📚
Here’s me thinking I’ve been chipping steadily away at my TBR so well the last few months… and now I’ve added a bunch of new books to it. 😂 another wonderful video, as always, with really informative reviews for every book!
okay but that box set has me absolutely drooling!! I bought both Circe and Song of Achilles in Toronto Airport and devoured both of them quite fast... to say that I was feeling some sort of way for Circe by the end of that book is an understatement, but I'll leave it there because no spoilers (sorry readers of this comment who haven't read the book yet...) thank you for sharing this with us. Keep up the good work.
Hi! New subscriber here. Really love your content and so glad you read the Maori book Purakau. I went to a Hawaiian school and we had to read Maori literature and I remember the book Potiki really sticking out to me. It may be something you'd like too.
One book/series I always recommend, as no one ever seems to have heard of it and I adore it, is The Orphan’s Tales by Catherynne M. Valente. It’s two books: In the Night Garden & In the Cities of Coin and Spice. Valente essentially creates her own mythology here exploring monstrousness and godhood but told in a very unique way.
I am adding If Not Winter and Monstress Book one to my Want to Read list based on your recommendations. Thank you for running through all of those so I can hand pick the best and just read those. :) 📚📚
I think you would love Jennette McCurdy's memoir! Trigger warning for eating disorder stuff. You'd definitely have to be ready to read about that going in, but it is so beautifully written and impactful.
Good afternoon 👋☺️ Plant Based Bride 🌹 Thank you for your reviews WOW that's a few books you have read there are a few I will check out now and the last one #63 is on my wish list enjoy your weekend 👍☺️🌹💌🦄👋📚📚
📚 I way prefer this kinda video to long lengthy reviews when there are loads to get through. I would love to send you an ARC of my upcoming release (fingers crossed you don't hate it!)
This was a very unique way to review a bunch of books all at once. If you ever have a moment, would you please share your Rating system and how you decide where a book does or does not rank?
I use the CAWPILE system as a base (rating 7 areas out of 10 and averaging to find the rating out of 5) - if you google it people have explained it much better than I would!
📚Elizabeth, have you read Little Eyes by Samanta Schweblin? I was watching last year's September reads and October TBR video and hearing you talk about Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead, The Haunting of Hill House and Klara and the Sun made me think you might enjoy it!
I’d like to recommend two of my favorite books “The Singular and Extraordinary Tale of Mirror and Goliath” & “The Contrary Tale of the Butterfly Girl” by Ishbelle Bee. Also some others: “American Gods” by Neil Gaiman, “Color of Magic” by Terry Pratchett (actually anything by Pratchett), “Furiously Happy” by Jenny Lawson, & a nonfiction “Mycelium Running” by Paul Stamets. Ty for all the new recs! Oh, I also disliked the “The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires”. Also, books smell amazing, 10/10 highly recommend. 🖤😊
📚 I keep getting super tempted to order from illumicrate, the books always look gorgeous! Now I’ve seen this I’m even more tempted…I’m just worried ill get hooked and end up bankrupting myself 🤦🏻♀️
Wow I know not one book you've read 😅 I've read 30 books in 2022 so far (my goal is more books than last year which was 42). I highly recommend the trilogy his dark materials by Philip Pullman if you don't know the books yet. I think the messages are so important and I love the characters so much 📚
Omg I have the exact same opinion about For Your Own Good AND The Maid as well 🙌 oh I'm sorry you didn't like the Brené Brown book, I love her work and don't really remember a lot of religious stuff in the two books I've read from her, but then again I read them years ago Ah I'm so sad you didn't like the Emily Henry book, I've read two of her other books and she's my new fave author 😭 Your hot takes are so good though hahahaha, loved them 🙌
I’ve heard her other books aren’t so religion heavy so I’ll have to try another one ❤️ I haven’t read any other Emily Henry books so maybe that one just didn’t work for me! Which is your favourite of hers?
@@PlantBasedBride I loved both Beach Read and Book Lovers but the latter is definitely my favorite - the banter, the chemistry, the emotional depth, the character development, the steam, it's all *chef's kiss*
You might like Tess of the Road by Rachel Hartman. It's YA fantasy that mostly reads like adult fantasy and I found the protagonist compelling. She undergoes some pretty drastic character development that I thought was well-handled. Olivia Atwater's Regency Faerie Tales series is also great if you want something historical but with cool magic.
I also enjoyed Cloud Cuckoo Land and The Sea of Tranquility. I am still thinking about them both. I read The Song of Achilles based on your review. Hard to put down. Now, thanks to you, I'll have to read Circe. How do you make yourself read something you don't like or are not enjoying? Right now, I am trying to read The Man Who Broke Capitalism. Since my husband was a just the age for corporations to dismiss to keep him from being invested in the retirement funds to which we had been contributing, I despise what Jack Welch has done to this country. (USA) I just renewed it from the library for the third time. I am almost through it. Over the years I have stopped reading books when they made me mad, bored me, or were just too stupid or insulting to go on. How do you do it and why?
I cannot wait for you to read the Hollow Places by T Kingfisher. I just read it. It's so creepy and weird, but funny. Love you Elizabeth even if I dissagree with some of your opinions on books. Haha, I smell books too, especially the print on demand ones from Amazon. Guess Bibliosmia fits me too.
I read Empire of Pain this year and was absolutely engrossed by it. I knew nothing about the story of opioids in this country. Endurance is next on my reading list.
Saw the thumbnail and thought "there is no way the most hated book is "Beautiful World Where Are You" (one of my favorite books). I don't think my jaw could have dropped any wider! Lol
I think I have to add some of your five stars book on my TBR. (Need to watch the video again and grab a 🖊). If you still like to read YA fantasy I would recommend Tamora Pierce books. Most of her books are about strong females. The first four (The Lioness) are on the short side but the following books will have better length to them. ( As I understand before JK Rowling books for certain ages was not to be too long) Loved this video all to the end. I can so relate to being excited when you have a new book that you have been waiting for. ❤️💕📚📚📘 By the way I have a challenge on my book bingo to read one of yours book recommendations 😋
Thanks so much for the reviews … I had to pause to hit up my library to find ‘A House at the Bottom of a Lake’ by Josh Malerman. I’m going to have to save this to my collections to come back and get more recommendations. 📕 📖 📚 📖 📕 🐈⬛ ❤️
Lore Olympus is a web comic that was turned into a book. Well two so far. But that’s why it feels incomplete. It is incomplete. It’s currently getting new episodes.
Hi, sorry to be annoying. Could I ask you why you didn’t like Beautiful World Where Are You? I haven’t read it yet but it’s sat on my shelf and was just curious. Thank you. X
I read thing fall apart in highschool and I disliked it alot lol. As an nigerian, it was just like something that i didn’t really care much about that my teacher was so focused asking me about the culture than i believe that contents of the actual book lol. Anyways, I REALLY LOVE on earth your briefly gorgeous because thats the way I would describe my absolute favorite type style of writing from an author. I only understood that sediment when i read that book but i loved it. The only con was the pacing, because I feel like the 2nd half was much more interesting and faster than the first part. The Sally Rooney Book you read, I would love to know more on why you hated it. I’ve been steering clear of her books because it seems like most people either love her book or just point blank hate them, & By just watching and not even finishing the hulu adaptation of normal people, I can’t really bring myself to read any of her books if it was as much as it was depicted in the hulu adaptation.
That sounds so frustrating! And I’m glad you loved OEWBG as much as I did ❤️ it’s such a special book! I go into a LOT (😂) of detail into why I didn’t like beautiful world where are you in my good reads choice awards video linked in the description!
not sure if you meant lgbtqia+ rep for only main characters, but i could have sworn there were multiple inclusions of non heterosexual couples/romance in the girl who fell beneath the sea ??
@@PlantBasedBride project hail mary, final girl support group & shara wheeler specifically🙈but I also had my library website open this whole video to request the ones you liked because i trust your taste !!!
Every book seems to have its own smell. My the mortal instruments series has an own smell that always reminds me of the time when I was 15 and obsessed with the books
I love your summary of all the books you've read. So concise... so many reviewers tell us too much about each book. Though I didn't agree with some of your ratings I didn't feel like you were convincing me to read the books.
I'm seventeen and for the first time in my life I started reading books I have read about 5 till now I'm getting attached to books too.i hope your goal is also acheived 🥰🥰
5 minutes into the video and I'm loving it 🤣. I've seen this types of videos and the ones I've seen were too fast and didn't include the rating, so this one feels more complete. 5 out of 5 awesome metaphors and reviews stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
📚I’m so with you about that Brene Brown book! But I’ve come to realize that anyone under the age of 40/45 isn’t the target demographic for her books. I don’t know if it’s intentional but she caters more to people her age/generation. What seems commonplace to us wasn’t so commonplace for earlier generations.
📚woo thanks for bringing back the bookish content 🥳✨ if you’ve not read The Bone Season yet, i’d highly recommend it, it’s my favourite book of 2022 so far!
I did enjoy this format! Sea of Tranquility looks rad, for sure. I don't recall if you've read/enjoyed Becky Chambers' first Monk & Robot book, A Psalm for the Wild-Built, but the sequel (A Prayer for the Crown-Shy) just came out, and it feels wonderfully warm and cozy and is basically averted-apocalypse and I love. 📚
📚Oh, absolutely love the Madeline Miller book set ! I loved Circe and I can’t wait to pick up The song of Achilles but.. my TBR is like +400 books big already… 😂 So glad your wrap ups are back 😊
Wow, just Wow! Thank you so much Elizabeth. Everything went by so quickly, but there were at least 10 books I want to read…all new to me. The only ones I have read are Maya Angelou, James Baldwin and your gorgeous box set, which I loved reading a couple of times, as well as listening to on Audible. I will have to watch this video a few more times to get my book list made📚, but thanks for another wonderful book review and stat video 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🎉🥰
I always am blown away at how many books you read - I have so many screenshots now of TBRs, thank you for these thoughtful and quick recommendations!! Also - nothing compares to the smell of new/old books! 📚 Enjoy your new set!! ♥️
📚 I will definitely read Atlas Six and the one after ... I smell my books as well although I try to buy more kindle due to space issue 😞 and I also love the Madeline Miller's book 🥳❤️📚
