hey man, i wanted to thank you for advice you give the whole pole vault community. i started sophomore year and ended the season with 6’6” (only one meet because of covid) and it’s now my senior year of high school and i finished with 10’. that’s not a whole lot to a lot of people but considering the lack of practices where we couldn’t pole vault i couldn’t be happier. sadly my Track and Field Career has come to an end unexpectedly due to a upper back injury (when i’m just starting to make more progress) I won’t be able to participate in my last meet. I didn’t know when i stepped on the runway that it would be my last time. To any pole vaulters now: you never know when the last time you will jump is so jump as high as you can! To team hoot: thank you, keep up the videos!
Tiler, thanks for making my week with this comment! Its a beautiful thing, this sport, not the heights and technique stuff, but our weird desire to solve this puzzle allowed our paths to cross. It grew our little community and man, that's why i love this sport. I'm jacked it crossed our paths! I'm not sure what your next goals in life are but heal up fast and enjoy the hell out of whatever you choose!
Some of this stuff is what my kids need to work on. Now we just have to wait for a day that we can actually vault. It seems like every day this season we get crazy wind, rain, or snow thus making it difficult to have an actual practice.
@@TeamHootPoleVault We had practice in snow again last night since we have a meet today, and it's supposed to rain on Wednesday. We can't practice in the gym because there are 6 sports that would need the gym including us which really sucks.
Awesome! Gripping down lower to get more pole speed / rotation often results in higher heights while keeping the standards back. Many coaches need to also realize this. Great recommendation!
