My fav episode. And I swear you that chosen it was a very difficult decission bc all the episodes (and I watch them live from #1 , two and almost a half years ago). I bought and literally “devoured” The Myth of Normal and When the Body Says No. These books confirmed my theory: my cancer was a product of my workalcoholic life, deep stress and anxiety. My body advised me then. How I wish I had this podcast then..

This episode I've watched several times already, and will probably watch it again to take notes and start doing the exercises. I plan to get the book, too. The episodes with Dr. Maté, Dr. Schewitz, and Dr. Kennedy, I think of as the big "how to" for processing life events and healing trauma. Really excellent! Your podcasts are an awakening for healing. Thank you!

I am getting caught up on your podcast Mayim and was wondering if you ever heard of Gabor Mate and I see you had him on. I am from Vancouver and he was a Dr. in the Downtown Eastside when I was a welfare worker in the same 'hood.....way back in the early 90's, he was outside the norm in seriously listening and responding to patients' basic needs and treating everyone with respect...he never gave less because he dealt with alot of addicted and poor people.. Much respect.

Thank you so much Mayim, Jonathan and Dr Gabor for the very insightful episode. Being someone who finds it a challenge to say no in certain stages, I loved the questions "What is the belief of my authenticity if I say no?" and "What are you not saying yes to?", are thought-provoking questions to ask myself, and finding these answers will help me become a more authentic self. Thank you!

I've been on the Gabor train for a few months now. I took his book with me on my 10yr anniversary trip and couldn't put it down. My thoughts and attitude are 100% in line with Mayim. I even caught myself telling people that "it's my bible" and "everyone needs to read it"... I've never read a book where I was taking reference notes every page or two, to share with people that I feel would be touched by his words.

I found you guys theough the original video. Actually looking ended up looking into Gábor Máté and his work online after. The fact that hes hungarian and contributes so much to english speaking communities as well as something so important as mental health baffles me .... i find today (i myself being hungarian) you dont hear much of our voices out there and what hes saying is so detrementaly important here. This posting just so happened to land on my birthday, basically woke up as the notification came in. Hearing it again just made my mind reel as i am an adult combating many issues and frankly have no control over them and have been losing hope from being so overwhelmed. I get the workaholic aspect and being wiped out today on my one day off thats supposed to mean so much to me but i couldnt be more desensetized generally. Thank you for posting this, thank you for bringing a little light in my day and for what you do for everyone in the community. Thank You 😀

I am a big fan of GM! I watched the original episode when it aired and enjoyed it greatly. This highlighted episode was fantastic. It hits his philosophies, practices and unraveling of human frailties in a quick burst. This episode I can share with people as a quick introduction into GM without losing anyone in a hour and 1/2 video. Nice job 😊

A minute in, the first clip, I'm thinking yeah that's literally me living, and how I've been living. In essence an I could've told all the listeners that myself because it's my exact, sad manifestation. It is as deep inside of me a daily rippling, life debilitating sickness, as a physical illness. So as not to compare the two, it's natural for me to say I'd rather feel neither of the pains associated between them. The sad difference is one could've been wholly prevented while physical illness cannot fully be.

I'm learning I probably spent too much energy conceptualizing Self-Compassion and mixing up justifying myself because I lack goals with talking. As if being on duty or actual good that expressing myself as 'empathetic to narcissism' would do, requires me to be on pause, unchanging while I explain every broad ever lol.

I dunno about this bite sized breakdown term by someone who may be thinking marketing with her known for stacked pancakes song. If bite sized or not but reading Capote or Monroe and others, they were popping pills and most of her fears were of Red Meanies. She didnt have a secure set of grounded base but so afraid but quick to bite ward off other females. Same photographers like Avedon, several playboy well known fashion photographers and who's even close to her Chanel or her curtsy to Queen. Grief mixed with also agents it was tragic on her spiral down of this genuine smiling kid at heart person discovered working in an assembly line of all time for aviation. Only Capote drew a picture of her but after Babe Paleys spread. Monroe couldnt handle suporting nurturing complimenting others.

I have to stop and interject, to the question of whether someone wants to hear that ACE score is probably more important than cholesterol (dr asked if people want to know?) ? My experience with this was an impression thumbs down by my family of origin. Edited - they might read and still think blame is a motive when it’s not- that’s what u have to find in certain systems- someone to blame. This is a multi -generational problem!! Not one family

Some of your episodes are not bad, but when you interview someone, please let them do the talking. I just get interested in what they are saying and you interrupt the flow of the conversation with some stupid won’t remark a question I like you as an actress, but the constant referral to your mental health issues. Are not very interesting. There are too many contradictions on one episode to the other either check out your Scrippts Or be more careful what you say because you contradict yourself all the time

It was so depressing. I am glad that Dr. Maté is teaching us what is the problem in society. On the other hand, I know that only a few people out of all reach this information, and even less people know how to apply it to life. The whole world is in trouble, if we count only the children that are growing up at the war zones, what will happen to them 20 - 30 years from now. I am glad that I found your channel, and I am sharing it with my friends. Nevertheless, it doesn't make me feel good overall.
