Her mom was really anxious about "listen before i go" but Billie said in her doc something like: its better to write about jumping off of the rooftop that doing it. So this song is like her suicidal note from when she was in a really bad place in her life

fun fact: billie explained that the "i cannot do this snowflake" part was because when billie was recording the song (her and her brother finneas recorded all or most of the songs in her childhood bedroom) it was around christmas time and she was crocheting a snowflake for her friend and she just said that lmao they decided to leave it there because it was funny

i almost cried when i first listened fully to this album and read that the last three songs were connected by their titles wich are: listen before i go, i love you, goodbye. and its so damn beautiful

I feel like in a sense, when the party’s over refers back to xanny. Because when you listen to xanny it sounds like she’s at a party. And xanny talks about how she doesn’t like the choices they make. And when the party is over is talking about how she could say she likes what you do but she doesn’t. Idk if I’m right but that’s what it sounds like to me.

Fr, i really think this is the best rection to this album, i wached more than 100 other reactions but this is the best reaction.

37:38 “take me to the rooftop.... there is no way but down...” the person is on the rooftop of a building, the only way for them is down ie: jumping off the edge of the building hence the sound of sirens and the sound of wind whooshing at the end

“listen before i go” was actually about when she was on tour and she was tempted to jump off the floor she was on to all the way to the ground, i think she said in berlin? which she said in a interview. but she didn’t do it and i’m glad she didn’t, she also said that her mom stopped her from doing it.

You can notice that in “Wish You Were Gay” she replaces the number eight with “ate”. The song 8 is mostly about how you’ve fallen in love with somebody that you know you can never have which ties into wish you were gay because the guy doesn’t give her attention or “looks at her like she’s see through.” So basically 8 is just another area of how she was feeling during the events of wish you were gay.

The fucking fact that billie writes music that we can analyze and break apart and literally try and find a deeper meaning shows how amazing her and finese are with creating storyline music with a purpose.

Also, I don't know if you guys realized but the end beat of bury of friend goes straight into ilomilo, and seems to add to the fluidity of dreams. Love your guys vids!

this album changed my outlook on music sooooo much

If goodbye is referencing all the songs in reverse and the whole album is about dreaming and when we fall asleep, could goodbye be talking about like how when you wake up you forget what you dreamt about. Either forgetting it completely or forgetting a majority of it except for little snippets, like how she had little snippets of each song in goodbye

2 years gone and it still has major reach and impact. It's an iconic album that will only be more regarded as time goes by . Only (hopefully) to be dwarfed by the very near release of BE 2.

What’s so exciting about the progression of the ‘energy’ of the album is that the entire thing feels like the progression one goes through during sleep. It starts out with the brightness of the day still twirling in your head like bad guy, going into the distorted smooth thoughts of Xanny that’s like that moment one drifts off into sleep, the initial few dreams that are perhaps on more of a recounting level (wish you were gay, when the party’s over, 8), then during the more intense REM sleep, the dark and heavy worst part of sleep, the emotional turmoil of bury a friend, then the deep sadness and almost anxious tiredness of ilomilo, listen before I go, and I love you, and last but not least, that hazy awakening phase during which one remembers only tidbits of dreams, most likely in a reverse order, the way one tends to recount dreams when trying to remember them upon that drowsy awakening. It ends sort of groggily, having experienced all of that, and remembering only snippets of the entire progress of that place one goes to when one falls asleep.

8 was originally gonna be named 7 on the album (before they added the intro) 7 was a nickname for her ex boyfriend he was always called sev or seven so i’m not too sure if it has anything to do with that however the room at the billie eilish experience for her album the room 8 was inspired by him

my favourite part of the album is the final 3 tracks. they're sonically similar, but also their placements in sequence tell their own story. "Listen before I go. I love you. Goodbye." Genius.

8 comes from a perspective of the other person, and actually how the whole song is that person telling all of that to her. so she really put herself in the others person shoes to understand the situation they were having. xanny its so interesting to me and i just love it so much, especially the bridge. at the end of xanny she sighed because they were making that song or finishing the song around when xxxtentacion had died, and it was hard for her. thats why the end of xanny its like that feeling of wow, you know what i mean? ilomilo. just iconic. its about losing the person you most love and wanting to protect them. and the production in that song its just so well put together. and the beats. ugh just love it so much. the lyrics too. and one more thing, goodbye is genius asf. they did that. and it was just like a good way to put it all together, did you guys know that the beginning of goodbye, is actually the background of xanny's bridge. and that definitely blew my mind. ugh finneas and billie are such geniuses. they're really changing the music industry. i love them so much. also i loved your opinions on the album and your perspectives of the album, i really agreed with them and it made me open up my mind more and have different thoughts of the album, love you guys

I feel like this album is all about dreams when you fall asleep that’s why she was taking her Invisalign at the beginning and then the dreams start with bad guy just like a normal dream then the dreams start getting deeper and deeper till i love you then goodbye when she wakes up and remembering all of the dreams backward but im not sure.

I think that the reason When The Party's Over is called that can be summed up in one line: "Quiet when I'm comin home and I'm on my own". She's so used to giving other people what they need constantly, having to think of your impact and affect/effect and relationships with other people before you give that consideration for yourself, that even when you live alone you sneak inside so you don't make any noise and wake someone up. Even after everyone's left (maybe literally like they stopped being in her life, or just left the party), she's still unable to put her oxygen mask on first because its become so second nature to help others first.

I remember when this album dropped and I was listening to that shit at 12 am, crying on the couch in my Livingroom lmfao.

Okay some key things that I noticed the day this album came out and I listened to it. so in Xanny and one of the verses she sings “morning as they come down” and the adlibs are “come down”. She does the same for the rest of the verses “they’re pretty heads are hurting” (hurting) “there awfully bad at learning” (learningggggg) and then at the end of the song when she’s humming she says those words so it’s basically cohesive Also I feel like this is something that is not caught by many people at all so listen before I go at the end you can hear cop cars and sirens because we all know this song is about ending it all and what she was going through at the time so it basically just confirmed that she did what she was talking about in the song
