Atlantic is their strongest intro track by such a wide margin that it isn't even fair.

This Place has recently taken over TMBTE for me, and its on the back of Telomeres and High Water. I am the world's #1 High Water fan and that song is so based

this place will become your tomb in 1st is the most BASED and objectively CORRECT opinion seriously now, that album has a level of atmosphere and feeling unlike many others I've heard since, it's the most cohesive one out of the 3 too imo

So happy to see This Place Will Become Your Tomb as someone's number one. It's such an underrated album that I always see people criticise just because it doesn't have as many heavy moments, but not only do the moments we do get really deliver, they really nailed the softer elements on the album. In my opinion it's their most cohesive and well put together album. While I do love the genre switching and structural experimentation on Take Me Back To Eden, I feel it was overdone in some parts and made the album as a whole feel quite disjointed which is something I've especially noticed as I have listened to it more and more. I do hope they focus more on cohesive song writing for whatever project comes next. Also, Atlantic is one of my favourite album openers of all time.

2:27 I find the singles to be the skippable ones because this release schedule was so drawn out I wore myself out on them. Ascensionism is perhaps the greatest song I’ve ever heard and I come back to The Apparition, Euclid, and TMBTE frequently

The sparseness, the scale, and album tempo play is to the moon, i love it. This record holds so much emotional value for me. But Tomb holds more and it's my "comfort record", if you will, even though it's depressingly sad at times. And I 100% agree with you on Sundowning being very much samey. This exactly makes Levitate and Say That You Will 90% skips for me.

You're a real one for this Bogdan! Tomb is my favourite ST album and quite frankly I'm sick of constantly seeing it in 3rd place.

my personal ranking: 1. Sundowning. This album means so much to me, it came out at a time where I was super close to quitting guitar and music in general and this album completely blew me away and made me fall in love with music and playing guitar again. A little disjointed and samesy but all the songs hold a special place in my heart so to me it's a perfect album (at least emotionally) 2. TMBTE. Personally I think they perfected their sound in this record I adore the title track and Ascensionism and Euclid is one of the best closers that I've ever heard the way it brings the motif from The Night Does Not Belong To God is beautiful. I do hope they change the formula a bit on whatever they do next tho. TPWBYT. I really like this album it's beautiful however I don't go back to it much and honestly it's because I can't listen to it without sobbing and thinking about a not so great time in my life because I listened to these songs to cope with that time. So it's a record I really like but only really listen to cope and let out emotions because it does that so easily for me.

My favorite album is always the one I am currently listening to. They all three are absolute masterpieces in my opinion. And all three albums deserve every praise they get But if I really have to choose: TMBTE The title track, Euclid. Those are one of the best ST songs they’ve ever written

I have the exact same opinion on their albums as you. From my point of view TMBTE for me isn't instrumentally standings out compared to other two albums, mainly the drums where they're sometimes lost in the mix unlike TPWBYT where they're right in the mix with vocals. Also the instrumental version of that album is just as good imo. And you nailed what's lacking with the Sundowing and it's pacing, it just stalls somewhere in the middle and it sometimes feels like a chore to listen the whole album

Sundowning made me grow spiritually, most of its song are so deep that if you are ready, they will help you doing the jump to vibrate on a higher level ( and no other song i ever listened to from other artists are spiritually close to these). It's the most simple as music quality but the one i listed the most. 2ND TMBTE. 3RD TPWBYT some songs i never listen to like Mine, Like That, Distraction and Descending

You literally described the exact way I felt about Take Me Back to Eden. Sundowning and TPWBYT feel so cohesive and full and TMBTE just feels like it's missing something, and it's hard to pinpoint exactly what that something is. Specifically the release schedule of Sundowning and looking forward to a new single every 2 weeks that sounded COMPLETELY different to each other it really made that album feel one of a kind to me. I wish they would do something similar again.

SO MUCH respect for putting TPWBYT first and calling out TELOMERES! TPWBYT is one of my favorite albums of all time and Telomeres is also one my favorite and their most underrated song. I’ll never get over it until they play it live

Euclid is genuinely my favorite song of all time. Its to me a perfect ending the the trilogy calling back to the beginning of the trilogy.

I agree that 'this place will become your tomb' is their best work. It took me a while to get into but once i did i fell in love with that album and its emotion/ story.

I've got the same album ranking. I was also spamming Sleep Token nonstop for like a year or two and then I haven't been listening to them as much lately. Some of it is my job changed last year so I don't have a job where I have music on for 8-10 hrs a day anymore. But I have also been binging other bands like Bilmuri, Thornhill and Chunk No Captain Chunk for my heavy doses. And also deep diving BMTH discog. And listening to a lot of older groups like Deftones and Incubus. I was definitely super high on TMBTE when it dropped tho. Still solid. But I don't think it topped the other two. I probably burned myself out on them though. I did the same thing to Polyphia before RTYWD dropped. I will go back to it more next year for sure.

As someone who discovered sleep token with the sundowning, it will always be my favourite one cause I come back to the album for its vibe much more often than I do for the 2 others. I would say that Take me back to Eden was interesting and the ending blew me completely but I gotta say I don t come back to it as much as I do for TPWBYT

'Euclid' seems to fly under the radar I feel. Song deserved a Grammy.

I would love if you did album reviews like this every now and then! It would probably only work with albums you really like, but ive found that what im looking for in music content is a celebration of the music, not just a surface level reaction

I agree that Sundowning and Take Me Back To Eden are kind of chaotic, and TPWBYT is a bit more uniform, but each of these has advantages and disadvantages. Personally, Eden is my favorite, not by a lot. I like its diverse sound, but kinda dislike how polished it sounds in some places, it feels a bit unnatural compared to the other 2. Sundowning and TPWBYT are pretty much tied for me, but I listen to each one of them more depending on the context. I listen to TPWBYT usually as a whole, and to Sundowning by taking the tracks separately (I find it a more diverse album, but indeed not uniform)

The way I’ve ranked each album is based on how much each one makes me feel something I don’t usually feel from music. Like TMBTE as a whole makes me emotional, more so than the other 2 albums, in particular the last minute of both TMBTE and Ascensionism. But directly behind TMBTE is TPWBYT, especially with Fall For Me and Atlantic. I don’t think Sundowning is the worst, I just like the other 2 SLIGHTLY more

I think my main issue with TMBTE is that I just miss George Lever's production, especially the drum sound.

I didnt get into Sleep Token until TMBTE, but I think my order is: TPWBYT, TMBTE, Sundowning. I dont know why I didn't connect with Sundowning at all. Thst being said, I will stan Ascencionism for the rest of forever.

My ranking is the same as you. Tomb is the most complete package and album experience front to back. Sundowning was such a left hook at the time that it makes an impressive debut despite its cliches. I like Eden a lot, but i agree that it doesn’t feel as thought out.

Sleep Token is one of those magical bands where I realise I’m liking each new release less and less. One is one of the best ep’s ever written and since then each release has been getting worse. Don’t necessarily think they have bad releases and I get overly hyped when they first drop stuff but in hindsight. One > Two > Sundowning > TPWBYT >> Eden

I can definitely see why. High Water might just be my favorite SP song. Followed by Hypnosis and Gods.

I was kinda glad that TMBTE was not as dark as TPWBYT. Because there was a sadness in that album that got inside of me. Love all 3 though.

I agree with the fact that TPWBYT is just more cohesive at the risk of being a little too monotonous by the end. I think that the high points of the other two albums where i think the high points are better than anything their 2nd album has to offer but the low points are much worse. On sundowning the back half of the album really drags and im out by the time sugar is playing. But Bloodsport brings me back in. TMBTE has a dip in the middle where i am not really into "the apparition", and i skip "Are you really okay" 100% of the time. I actually like DYWTYLM just wish it was somewhere alse in the album and not amongst my least favorite songs. I live the two closing tracks though. 3.Sundowning 2.TPWBYT 1.TMBTE

its so funny that you say you only come back to the singles of TMBTE because for me im the exact opposite, I almost NEVER touch the singles (except Vore) but regularly listen to tracks like Rain and The Apparition.

I discovered and liked Sleep Token a lot when they released Sundowning, but i fell in love with their sound on TPWBYT. Man, what a band

Personally, I disagree with Bogdan on his point on the disjointedness of TMBTE because I think the disjointed nature of TMBTE is what makes it exciting since there's lots of variety. What I do agree though is that "staircase" structure in their song which becomes quite predictable, songs like Dark Signs, Atlantic, and Granite are great examples of this. Don't get me wrong though, I enjoy that structure because compared to the rest of the music world, that kind of structure very common, based on my limited taste in music at least. Don't ask me to write a top three list though, I've been racking my brain on that for a bit, but I couldn't justify putting them in each position.

I agree with you, Bogdan! I really think that the second sleep token record is the record that is the most “them” if you get what I mean.

All three are great, but Sundowning is still the 🐐. Tomb and Eden are about tied for me; I much prefer the sound of Tomb, but Eden has more standout songs. Regardless, Jaws is still 100% their best song.

I've been following Sleep Token since they released their second EP back in 2017 and I fully agree with this list. TPWBYT is by far their most cohesive album. I loved the huge sound on TMBTE but I feel like it was a bit too cheesy.

I was agree with the order of the albums that you chose. They are all incredible in their own right and they all have a special place in my heart, but there’s just something about this place will be become your tomb, it speaks to me the most and I think it has the best flow. It’s also the most emotional, which is probably why I like it the most lol

They’ve been my favourite band since 2018 - but I still don’t think they’ve completely nailed the album format. TPWBYT is by far the best and most cohesive front-to-back listening experience. And the other two have a lot of crazy good tracks, but pretty disjointed pieces of work as a whole. In terms of my own bias - I think Two is still their best sound, and would KILL for a return to that. It’s so much more interesting to me that Two, at its core, exists in the soul/rnb/jazz songwriting traditions (in harmony, melodic choices, rhythm, layering, etc) that sometimes uses the textures and language of heavy music to provide some interesting colours, vs the pop/rock songwriting of the albums with occasional sprinkling in of tropes from other genres?

TMBTE is probably in my top 5 or even top 3 albums of all time, I listen to it almost every day but I can see why it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. I think I agree with you about TPWBYT being the most balanced one though!

Sleep Token was almost everyone’s favorite album of 2023 and I agree it was really good. But the one album I listen to 100% everyday is Invent Animate Heavener. It’s crazy how much I listen to both of the albums. 2023 we got lucky

Maybe it's just the fact that Take me back to Eden was my Introduction to Sleep Token but I really love that album for the creativity and experimenting with different genres 😅 When I first listened to it I didn't like it at all but I came back and now I absolutely love it 😍 the other 2 albums just can't keep up with Take me back to Eden except for a few songs 🙈

You didn't like Rain? The Apparition?

The first song that i heard from sleep token was hypnosis, i like it a lot and i wanted to hear more but i just heard like 15 seconds of a couple song and didn´t hook me. Some months later chokehold was released and i like it a lot but wasn´t enough to really care about the band but i was interested in the new material. When TMBTE was released i fall in love instantly with the band, a month later i wanted to give it a chance to the older stuff and that was the best decision of my entire life because i can't imagine my life without Sleep Token. Now, although I love TMBTE, I really think it is their worst album, and between Sundowning and TPWBYT there would be no winner, each album has its own. Sundowning has The Offering, Higher, Gods, Sugar and Drag Me Under. TPWBYT has Atlantic, Hypnosis, The love you want, Telomeres and High Water but all the other song are still a banger, just i have a few songs that i never heard like Levitate, Missing Limbs and DYWTYLM Long life to sleep token and i hope the next album is better than the last one. Worship (sorry if i wrote something wrong, i use the translator in some parts cuz i'm latino and i need to practice my english)

I love it and have probably listened to TPWBYT more than any of the other albums. It’s a great album to go to sleep to. I also love the instrumental album. High Water is my favorite ST song. I’m curious what you think of the earlier songs. I love the EP Two, Nazareth was my first intro to ST.

When I first heard TMBTE I thought it was absolutely incredible but I do see myself going back to their older stuff more than the non-single songs from TMBTE. I do think the non-singles from that album are still amazing but they aren’t as replayable as most of their other stuff.

This place will become your tomb is my overall favorite, followed by Sundowning. Their new album is SOOO good but it’s too new to mean as much to me and their others.

It’s so hard to pick a number #1 Sleep Token album but if I had to, TPWBYT has to be my pick. Sundowning & TMBTE are right there. Like you said, at first I thought TPWBYT was kinda weak, never really paid attention until I went back and REALLY listened to the full album. Cried for hours. Favorite song has to be High Waters.

Tomb to me is something unbeatable something I fell in love with with my first listen not just because the music but the journey it takes you on it feels like a flowy open space-y feel and I didn't get that from Eden, From Eden It was more like what I got from Sumdowning an emotional rolacoster with such a beautiful ending and they ended both in similar ways is just nothing but perfect. I look forward to do what they do next and what's ahead for them I mean they are big now I can only imagine on the back of what Eden did for them that the next will for them Tomb will forever be my number 1 ❤

Ascensionism is an incredible song, except for that one section where the trap beats start and Vessel goes full autotune with "past life past lie", you know, THAT section. I physically cringe whenever that happened. BUT BRO the ending of that song makes it worth it.

Sundowning is easily third to me. There's just too many songs I'll never listen to. Some of them that I like have production choices that nearly ruin them for me, like Gods. I think I might listen to TMBTE songs more than TPWBYT, but it still takes second due to lower highs. TPWBYT takes first due to the absolute highs of the album. Songs like Atlantic and Alkaline are perfect. Missing Limbs is equal to Blood Sport, don't @ me. Even the songs I don't particularly love do something special, which I appreciate even if they're never making it on my playlist.

3. Sundowning, I started with this album late into its life cycle, it still means a lot to me but i connect to it less emotionally than TMBTE and TPWBYT, no clue why, it just does. 8.8/10 2. TMBTE, Euclid, Ancesnsionism and TMBTE absolutely HARD carry this album to me. (The Summoning is overrated and one of the weaker songs on the album imo). 9/10 1. TPWBYT. This album absolutely fucks me emotionally, There are songs that if they come on in my playlist it goes on repeat for at least 10 repeats before i go to the next song (looking at you High Water, Mine, The Love you want, Missing Limbs). It also has what is probably my favorite song of all time on it (High Water). 9.5/10

Great choices and justifications from a fellow long term sleeper, Eden really just lost me. I personally think Sundowning is the best, but Tomb definitely ruled my life when it came out. Hope whatever they do next will be something amazing, even if it's completely different.

Honestly, based opinions all around. TPWBYT has been one of my favorites since the beginning, and it's still my favorite to just play front to back sometimes. TMBTE is good for the first half, but after Ascensionism I really only listen to Rain and sometimes TMBTE the title track.

My opinion - I cannot give my first second and third because I love every single song they have produced. All albums are masterpieces vessel is a genius so I cannot rank

I would agree with TPWBYT being their best album. However I would say that you should listen to take me back to Eden again, because ascensionism, apparition, and take me back to Eden (the songs you dismissed) are the songs that became some of my favourite sleep token songs after a couple of listens.

You guessed right - TPWBYT is my least fav album (don't mean it's bad), and because for me it's just not enough of everything. Yes, there are some great moments of insight and sensuality (and I adore 'em sometimes) but it's rather like sparks in the dark.. Some songs are just empty, others are straight up confusing or unsettling, but I'm trying to understand your attitude. So, this album didn't fkn grab my soul in a way other two did. In a past year there were some moments when TMBTE did the very thing. Sometimes I turned to be completely melted by Chokehold, Summoning, Aqua or other songs. So, in general situation is similar to yours. Some non-singles I like as a whole, some only for specific parts. Looks like this is my 2nd Their debut is such a unique one and so special for me, can't help but adore it. When I turn on any Sundowning track I simply got chills. I perceive each of these songs from the album as deeply melancholic and utmost. Many brightest emotions and memoirs are either caused by it or accompany it.

TMBTE (the song) has always been a sore spot for me, I don't like the pacing, the rap section seems shoehorned in and I struggle to love it as much as Ascensionism, which is kind of in the same register. Rain is also a song I don't enjoy, and this one maybe AT ALL. And TMBTE (album)'s mix overall feels a bit shallow, drums are not as clear and sharp as before - which is a crying shame as II is the only other member of the band in studio. I agree with Sundowning, been saying the same about song structure. The only exceptions are Take Aim, Give and Gods. And they're not the best songs at all, they're just different contextually. TPWBYT is just a gorgeous one, even though the Distractions into Descending (something we get from Sundowning too, with Take Aim into Give) is a bit jarring. But it's just so good overall.

real i always thought TPWBYT was superior as TMBTE as an album. The album is a way more cohesive and consistent experience than anything else they have released. I love everything ST has released but TPWBYT is special as a unit.
