I spent part of of military career in a site just like this one, but when it was functional with three ICBM's, in South Dakota.

So when do these structures go to shit? I imagine when the generators go it's the death knell for these badass buildings.

@@ryanlowry5409 they removed all the sump pumps as well.. with no pumps and electricity to run them.. Well 50 yrs of water leaking in and u can see the effects it has had on them.. But at least they didn't do what they did to the Titan 2's..

I’m saving up to buy one. I want the one in Hermosa SD because the location is really nice. Plus Hermosa is a short drive from Rapid City and I like it there. I have a pretty lucrative career, so saving up to get one isn’t impossible, but still difficult to save up enough for that them dump it all on a silo for $1M-$2M. Go from being a multi millionaire to broke pretty quickly 😂. Let alone the $4M-$6M it will take to fully renovate one. Based on my past job choice of well drilling near Hermosa, I don’t think it’s going to be too flooded.

@@ryanlaabs6034 do what Bari did with his site in Washington.. Build small structures over all doors and vents to stop water coming in, then start the cleanup..

First time ever exploring this for me was in July was a great almost successful journey. Came back to a cop sitting next to my car we told him we couldn’t find it and he actually told us how to get in and we were coming from the wrong direction??? unbeknownst to him we explored most of the facility. Came back just 3 months ago to the exact location and coordinates to find a 40 foot mound of dirt over the entrance. I believe we were the last explores to ever enter this place. It’s so sad but hey nothing a shovel can’t solve... 😏

Great Video , better light would have been great also but still one of the more clearer videos of this facility. Also above certain blast doors and tunnels you will see signs that say “launcher 1” and so forth so you know where they are

The actual Entry would have been topside next to the Freight Elevator when active... this is the Deer trail site and next to the freight elevator you will find a rectangular Cap... that was the entryway.

12:41 That might be a sump pump, I am not too sure. Might be a bit too big for a sump pump.
@garyjones2582

I believe that is the tank that holds the hydraulic fluid for the elevator.. I believe its about 8ft tall...

How did you manage to get back in without trouble? Any trouble with the law or the owner?
@Meekerextreme
@Meekerextreme 6 лет назад
There is no fence, no signs nothing...is this privately owned? State owned, or Federally owned?
@manuelvalles3415
@manuelvalles3415 6 лет назад
Meeker Extreme Apparently privately owned. The owner used to call the police when he would see some folks snooping around the area. Guess not anymore? I have been meaning to go but been held off because of the stories of people being caught.
@Meekerextreme
@Meekerextreme 6 лет назад
I don't claim to be an expert on law but the owner really fails, you can drive right in, as I said no signs posted. I obey signs and fences, there were none. Used masked still liter the entrance although not as bad as before so a lot of people are still going in. If the land owner really wanted it shut he just bury the entrance and issue solved.

Theres a video on RU-vid with the owner and a local tv news crew, he was going to seal it up supposedly. It's a shame that people destroy history like the graffiti and stuff...

The NIKE missile defense system, AJAX, Hercules and Zeus launched from the surface. The ICBM's know as Atlas, Titan 1, Titan 2 and Minuteman missiles all launch from the silo underground. A lot of engineering went into making it possible. In early test they would destroy themselves from the sound waves created from rocket engine.
@darcywiley5096
@darcywiley5096 4 года назад
Atlas D launched from a pad like the Apollo rockets. Atlas E was stored horizontally, rotated 90 degrees and launched from a "coffin". Atlas F and Titan I were stored in silos, then raised to the surface for launch. Titan II, Minuteman and Peacekeepers were silo launched.

That looks sketchy as I responded there on your video. Neat it's open but boy something is going on there. Looks like a generator trailer providing power to underground (note these places underground are technically owned from what I have read still by the federal Government. Part of the deal selling the land to the owners is they don't open up and go inside and use them.

Also check out this video. It’s part 1 of 4. I think you would like this. It’s the same one I was at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HeJjxu2p8BA.html

Yup pretty interesting, well it looks like they probably did even more since her videos as you can tell in your video there is a major power box next to that one trailer they used to sleep in so they probably have more of it lit up. I love how she hid in her hand the remote to open the hatch, that is cool but I can see why they have an alternate way in and out because if those hydraulics went there be no way out or in. Seeing as it seems like they might be friendly be worth seeing if you knocked on the door if anyone is there if you could get a tour and do some video. then again they also sound like they might rent it our for stuff. It's also interesting how more of the stuff was scrapped from there vs. the one I go to in Deer Trail, Colorado that still has a lot more of the metal bits, like the second story of the dome and the parts that closed off the ventilation to keep air out. It is amazing how clean it is. I wonder if pulling the fuel tank out was common to do to show the soviets that we were dismantling them and also a way to gain entry inside. hmmmm....
