I've been trying to fix this problem for over an hour. There are countless forum posts and youtube videos on this. Imagine how much time/money has been invested into exploring solutions to this problem Lol. Revit could save companies $$$ by simplifying this process.
Thank you for this video. As a far behind, self taught user, this really explained a lot when it came to setting this up. You did an excellent job explaining the process and the walk through. Thanks again!
You said that if its the company's title block we should add the parameters to the template itself so that they automatically show up, how can we do that?
Thanks for very informative tutorial. Just noticed at 5:47 you say that one number is INSTANCE parameter & other one is TYPE parameter, but in your explanation, I saw that in the both cases you selected INSTANCE, bit confused, can you pls clarify?
Dear Sir, If you could help me, I will donate ! I have 20 buildings on my project and the idea is to use one title block. Based on type label list, I have found only sheet name and sheet number only that will change per building type. I also need a separate label that can change as well, i.e. Building A or B or C. Please advise?
Hi Tom, when you are at the stage of creating Shared Parameters, especially in conjunction with Labels [on Sheets], Type vs Instance doesn't come into play. It is a Shared Parameter that can, later on, be designated as Type vs Instance. I hope this answers your question.
I realize that this video was published back in 2011, on that note, have there been any advances of automatic sheet count?. For instance, If I have sheets A-100 to A-115 (15 sheets total), instead of manually going to every sheet and numbering 1-15, can revit count the sheets and just input them automatically? I know 15 sheets is not that much but what if you were to have 100+ sheets. I'll appreciate if anyone has come across this.
Hi J Carlos, unfortunately there has been no 'out-of-the box' Revit updates regarding automatic sheet count. However, our tech's here at MicroCAD have developed Dynamo scripts to assist with this exact conundrum. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at 888-355-0081 we would love to help you get this set up on your machine.
HEY, I followed all the instructions, but I don't know why when I create the sheet No, it appears the same number in all the pages I double checked each of the steps but I keep getting the same number on all of the pages
Hey Jeisson, I am sorry to hear that. Please contact our tech support experts to see if they could help you out with this problem! You can send an email to mtcinfo@microcad3d.com or call 6179230500 - tech support. :)
Its laid out pretty well in that video, you sure you followed all the steps? The only thing I can think is to make sure the parameter for sheet number is an instance parameter and not a type parameter.
I believe my problem may be because i'm not using a title block family. I am creating my "title block" as a "Generic Annotations" (personal prefferrences). Probably that is the reason, or something has changed with the modern revit. On the video he is using the 2012 version.
Despite the fact that you are offering free tutorials to others which I greatly appreciate. You have a tendency like most other "smart ass" kids I have dealt with here in Canada to "assume" that everyone watching is at the same level of expertize as you are. Each time you come to the most critical points in the review you just flash through it leaving "us" less informed individuals to guess at your intent.Yes you know your stuff but you are absolutely lousy at imparting it to others !
