I prefer the 1st edition. Actually if they were on sale you buy both and make the one deck of your choice. But I'm called to the antique look of the 1st one

First edition all day everyday! I do love certain cards in the second edition and I was very tempted to purchase that and replace the (few) cards I didn’t vibe with (I don’t mind the different backs and what not, it’s a deck that I just read with/meditate/patchwork) but I’m trying to be good with my spending-keyword trying. Lol. I’m “trying” aka still purchasing decks but spending a little more time humming and hawing a bit before so. I was going to get second edition hence why I’m watching this, but I think I’m good on this one-happy with the first. Thanks Dani, two years later lol.

Oh they are! At least the first one is. It’s one of my favorite decks to use for that purpose because each image feels like it holds a complete story within itself

I definitely prefer the first one, but some of the images in the second are stunning. The hanged man in both gives me pause

I can totally see that. In fact, it’s one of the reasons why I held off so long with the second edition because it seemed a lot more rooted in religious art. It definitely pushes my boundaries because ever since I was a kid those types of images really scared me and made me uncomfortable.

I was so looking forward to this so I could maybe finally make up my mind about that second edition..... and this didn't disappoint! I'm definitely happy with my first edition, though I can definitely appreciate the art ... from a distance :D

I honestly didn’t know about the second addition until I finally was ready to order the first! So I’m in the shop going holy crap a second?!? I went ahead with the first because I already knew I was not going to be disappointed or anything…if anything might be my favorite…I’m not sure honestly how I feel about the second compared…I know I won’t get the second because it is the same type of deck. I’ve been using the “scratch my itch” method I learned from you! I just search for anything that I already have…. I honestly think I almost didn’t get this because I have Dani’s deck & I still can say I love it more. Something about how she added all the texture & the art is fascinating.

The first edition Queen of Cups is of Madame Rimsky-Korsakov by Franz Winterhalter who also painted the Empress Sisi. It's a beautiful image.

If I had both of these and they were the same size, I'd probably pick my favorites of each from the decks and make some sort of mixed deck to have the best of both worlds :D I don't know -- I do have more favorites from the first deck but the second also has really great cards too so it's difficult to choose, as you said :)

So glad you compared them! My favorite would be the 1st edition and now I'm having a hard time because I thought I already had my plans on having a certain number of decks hahaha. I think I like the 1st edition better because there are more "dark" elements which me likes a lot and it gives me more calm, serene vibes 🤔. What kind of readings do you do with the deck?

The first is my ultimate favorite because of the portraits of the courts, I find they are much more my style than the courts of the 2nd. I use these for a plethora of readings. They work really well in year ahead spreads and also mix really well with many oracles!

That’s a great question. For me, because I love the art style so much and because they are so expressive, it totally works for me- but it’s all personal preference!

This makes me want these decks so much! But the store is on break! 😒 I didn't think I would like these so much! I prefer some 2nd edition over 1st edition but also vice versa. I don't like the 2nd edition pages much.

I have to say I much rather the court cards on the first edition! I think they Come back from break in a few weeks! I want to say I read it was like June 23 or 28th?
