This is a typical run-of-the-mill approach when, as soon as the BJP gets a setback, the narrative is always about whether and, if yes, how Congress can take advantage of it. Once again, it shows a lack of objectivity and a lack of appreciation of the fundamental difference between the BJP and Congress in India and in Indian polity. Let me dwell on a few truths to understand this: 1. Congress starts with a huge advantage versus the BJP. They have a 15% head start in elections thanks to minorities. Minorities will never ever, repeat, never-ever, vote for BJP. 2. Out of 80% of Hindus in India's population, 35 are viscerally anti-Hindu and have no hesitations to become anti-India if they feel something can hurt Hindus. This includes the Hindus comprising Dravida, Communists, the Left-liberal cabal of Khan Market gang of intellectuals, and more than 90% of the establishment, which consists of the bureaucracy, Judiciary, and media. This 35 out of the 80% Hindus will never ever vote BJP. 3. one can readily see that the BJP starts with a losing handicap even if Congress is full of donkeys and not human beings. 4. Modi's remarkable achievement in 2014 and 2019 is the brilliant efficiency with which he coalesced the remaining 45% and received a huge proportion of their votes. 5. He cannot slip one bit on the treadmill to get this 40% out of his 100%domain of 45% of India's population. But all that Congress needs to do is play some micro-local shenanigans at the most to topple Modi from the treadmill. 6. Despite the tremendous headstart, Congress loses ONLY due to its own ineptness and foolishness. It is like a kid who struggles with 3-digit long division in Arithmetic when the BJP can handle Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus. 7. Given the configuration of Indian voters and the mental wiring of a large section of Indian Hindus, it will be impossible for the BJP to keep running on the treadmill. With a slight sluggishness, they face a setback. 8. In a way, it is best for the BJP and also India that the BJP has some debacles so that their machinery can bounce back with renewed vigor. People will soon get tired of Congress and go back to BJP. 9. To my mind, the only risk in this postulate is that when the Congress comes to power, it will sell the country to India's adversaries like China or Pakistan and take it to irreversible lengths, making the democratic mechanism in India inept at dealing with entrenched forces.

The strike rate means nothing. Congress was fighting BJP is its most powerful strongholds. So naturally any inroads is a great achievement. To prove my point, look how well Congress did against BJP in Kerala that is not one of its strongholds. All this is just talking points for people like Burka Dutt who is the pocket of the PM

Bharkha, why don't we compare 2024 election with 2014 election , bcos 2019 was mostly about nationalism. Also I would like to know, if Mr . Modi is not there , how does BJP does on its own in the elections .....before Modi, indians did not like BJP so much as a party .....
