İn this video, ı want to talk about revision nose surgeries.
Revision rhinoplasty is 2 or more surgeries performes when the desired goal cannot be achieved.
So what is the rate?
That is, what is the probability of going from the first nose surgery to the second nose surgery.
Although it isa between 5 and 10 percent in the literature, this rate can be even lower in experienced hands.
No matter how experienced the physician is how with less problem the nose is, it should be known that the probability of revision after the first nose surgery cannot be zero.
So when do we decide on revision surgery?
It is a process taht should be decided tıgether with the patient after the patient's recovery is completed.
The recovery period is 2 years for thick skinned cases an at least 1 year for normal skin and thin skinned cases.
Unless there is an urgent complication, it is not appropriate to perform revision nose surgery before one year.
Performing a nose surgery with incomplete healing means a revision without seeing all the results.
It has flaws. What are these; for example, the patient has 2 problems in his nose in the 6th month. However, as the edema decreases, it may increase and the problems may decrease.
If there is an increase in the condition, you will have gone into surgery unnoticed these now conditions have operated on a patient who will recover. This situation is also not suitable.
They should also be in touch with the surgeon who performed the operation during the healing process.
Another issue is that it is not appropriate to get opinions from other doctors in the first year during haling time.
Consulting another doctor during the recovery period may cause unnecessary confusion.
