The Ombraz works pretty good for water sports, like paddling and kayaking and boating could even use it for snowshoeing also anything that requires you to wear any top helmet, the lack of hard side bars makes it a lot easier. Also the Ombraz you don't tilt it up, you loosen it up and put it down around the neck. Works exceptionally well actually. So next time don't try to remove it, just wear it around your neck. < not affiliated with Ombraz, just find it useful as a boater.
I absolutely second the neck thing - I have prescription lenses with a strap because the frames are a bit loose on me, and I always keep them around my neck when driving so I can just reach down and out them on without having to take my hat off. It looks a little silly perhaps, but it’s way easier (and safer!) than trying to take a hat off and put glasses on one-handed while also trying to steer.
@@pureevil79 not good, I would go as far as to say... for people with hair range from shaved, bald, to hair clipper size 2 at max any longer will be hard to put on and take off without tangling and pulling your hair.
I can't imagine those Peeq glasses having such an over engineered hinge and yet just forgetting the ear pieces entirely. I would assume either those ear pieces can be removed and swapped or are flexible and can be bent in the opposite direction. It doesn't redeem the fact that they are the ugliest and least useful, but there is no way that's not just a user error flaw.
The Ombraz isn’t going to be great for people who have (I’m sorry, James) hair. Your hair is going to get caught in the straps when you tighten. Plus as you move you’re going to get muffin hair. I like the way the Kore glasses block out the sides so you don’t get too much light (the whole point of sunglasses), altho that greatly reduces your peripheral vision. Reversible sunglasses? Not for me. The Kore would be my winner.
I was thinking about people with longish hair who like to wear glasses under their hair. With normal glasses you can push the arms under your hair onto your ears, the Ombraz you would need to lift your hair up over the strap. (hope I am explaining myself here)
@@mickm6309 the thing is with the hard arms that loop over your ears, they stay stationary. I’m thinking from wearing sweat bands the way you suggest that your hair would push the strap down towards your neck until the glasses were at an angle. At least for me, my ears didn’t help as much, even tho the sweat bands stayed in place on the sides.
Reversible sunglasses sounds cool, until you realize that reversible things are generally reversible for a reason, and there is no reason to want reversible sunglasses. Sunglasses are very function over form.
Man! They're trying it on with the price of things these days. None of them look like they cost more than a dollar or two to make in some Chinese factory. $120, $150 and $160? What a joke.
The Peeq are just not right at all. They are flat across the face, glasses should have at least some curve so you don't end up with a huge gap on each side of your face that would let in a bunch of unwanted sunlight. as far as the others i bet you can get different color lenses from them, if not suggest it to them!
I am an optician so I don't mind calling myself an expert. I actually have a prototype of the reversible sunglasses. You may not have read the instructions properly , or you don't have the same one that I have . When you reverse them , the ends of the arms flay the wrong way. However, the ends of the arms are very bendable, and you are supposed to bend them with your fingers to curve in instead of curving out . On my prototype it's very easy to do. As for the lenses , if you notice, they are flat, unlike the others, which have a very distinct curve . Because the frame is reversible, the inventors don't have a choice but to use a flat lens. The problem with flat lenses is that the optics are not as sharp, but more importantly , because the lens is flat, you tend to get quite a bit of glare from any light source behind you.. The flatness of the lens acts like a mirror. Because the sunglasses are reversible, the inventors didn't really have much choice but to use a flat lens .
really awesome video! also ive gotten addicted to your channel, i was googling around for a review on the air up aand found your video, and wound up binging a ton of your videos
for anyone who wants wht the Ombraz provide with _any_ glasses, just buy some Crookies or whatever elastic strap you can find which fits onto a pair of regular glasses. So long the arms are thin enough what I am using works just fine.
Just a had a thought with with kores... There are people that give themselves magnet implants. They'd be damn secure on your dome if you lined them up properly.
It's pretty clear from your video that you prefer polarized sunglasses. Non-polarized glasses can be beneficial in some cases. For example, you won't find a pilot ever wearing polarized subglasses on the job, as it will stop them reading the displays in the cockpit. For them polarized is really bad.
Correct! Pilots cannot legally use polarized lenses. Polarization does have its cons but a lot of people seem to “fall for it” in thinking they are always better. They do have good use cases though.
The Ombraz could be left as a necklace when you take them off. So you don't actually have to deal with the hat issue and as a necklace you don't really need to store them anywhere. But personally my favorite thing about the Ombraz is that it solves one of the issues I've experienced with virtually all forms of glasses at some point. Eventually either by forgetting to take them off while sleeping/napping or by accidentally pressing them my glasses' temple/arms become misaligned and my frames become crooked or off-center. With the Ombraz this isn't an issue anymore. Love it.
Not that I’m defending the “Peeq” sunglasses, but doesn’t the back portion of the glasses bend? Is that not rubber? That would fix the “inside out/bowed out” issue.
I would be interested in the Ombrez as prescription glasses instead of sunglasses. The adjustable strap instead of standard arms I feel would be more comfortable and better on the for long term wear. If they were a prescription the frame itself could be a little smaller and lighter and since theres nothing holding onto your ears you could always throw on sunglasses over them, unless they made some clip ons or something. Anyway, very interesting glasses, too expensive for me, but if I could choose a pair to just show up at my door, it'd definitely be the Ombrez. Theyre different and I tend to gravitate toward whatever isnt the norm.
Just curious but is there a wire in the Peeq glasses arms? Judging that they are reversible I would assume the arms would be able to be adjusted since they would naturally conform to the shape of your head and like yours, curve the wrong way if you reverse them.
I couldn't wear any of them. I loathe having glasses or sunglasses resting on my cheekbones. I buy sunglasses with nose pads to hold them away from my face. Very cheap at the flea market in Shipshewana.
I have my own sun glasses that are rx but when I’m not driving, I just have a pair of cheaper sunglasses in the car. The Kore (magnet ones?) might be nice to try. My cheap pair when I take them off in the store and hang off my shirt or hoodie, feels like I could lose them.
Kind of a weird comparison because of the Ombraz being so different. While you can't clip them on something, you can just let them dangle around your neck and they are far less likely to break because they don't have hinges. The biggest concern for me with those was how tight they would have to be against your face. But, they sit completely differently than standard glasses and are so different because the frame is so different that I don't think it's really a comparison to standard sunglasses.
If I'm going to pay that kind of money for a pair of shades, I'll stick with what I usually buy, Ray-Ban. I won't spend that money on a brand I've never heard of.
Being a fisherman myself(surprise cause of my last name) but, if you can dangle those Ombraz on your neck like the stupid add on things you put in the fins, you're already saving money! If it does that, then I'd happily invest in a pair!
Hadn’t thought of that either. I just liked how it would hold in place on shirt. I certainly wouldn’t want the ouch factor, now considering pierced earrings. I thought James had an earring though? I would have thought him mentioning that with strong magnet. Maybe he doesn’t always wear his in?
Did you try to put the on tax around your neck to hold them when you’re not using them. Instead of pinning it to your shirt. Are the straps long enough to go down around your neck? If so. It would be so much better. I would think. But i don’t recall if you hung it around your neck or tried. Anyone who has them let me know. They might be too short.
First time I ever splurged and bought sunglasses that cost more than $20, I got a pair of those Kore. I lost them within a month. They were nice while I had them. They are a bit heavy, IMO.
Hey James, can you do a favor? Start finding reasons that I shouldn’t buy something because ya know, when moneys tight I don’t need to be incentivized… I like new things, I just can’t afford them as frequently
Man, you look angry while wearing the Kores. There's just something about that shape that makes you look intently angry. Really bad design if you ask me.
You don't seem to wear eyeglasses, but if you could review "fit over" and clip-on sunglasses for those of us that have to wear eyeglasses, that'd be great. Maybe--if you don't need eyeglasses--you could wear just frames or reading glasses..
So, for the hat issue you presented with the Ombraz, why don't you just pull them down and wear them around your neck instead of completely removing them?
The first pair would be great with no chest hair lol The second look like the cheap things my eye doctor gives me to put over my eyeglasses after dilation. The third don't look bad at all but I suspect they'd fall apart pretty quickly.
Mr. White another brilliant video thank you. Can I please ask you to review one of those electric dusters, I was going to order a can of duster cans to clean my laptop and keyboard, and I saw the electric ones not sure of the work well or not. Thank you in advance my friend.
As a bearded, bald, white guy. I would not wear the kores while talking to a camera in a car. If I walked by I'd just assume you were saying racist shit.
the only way i would pay 100 bucks for sunglasses is if they were prescription and that would be under protest what i mean is if for 100 dollars more for the glasses im getting anyway.
I wear glasses. I wouldn’t have any use for these. However I have two pairs of glasses. Both have progressive lenses. One is photo grey and the other is not. The photo grey darken fast and reasonably fast, but they are not polarized, and take a couple of minutes to lighten. That is problematic going through tunnels and entering buildings. I use flip up clip on’s. I have a couple of pairs of different colors. They are both polarized, One has gold rims, and the other is rimless. They both cover the entire lenses on the prescription glasses and are stylish.
The reversable one is lame. The one with magnets seem logical to make and have. The one with straps don't seem easy to take on or off and I can see having to adjust the fit a lot.
