It is surprising to hear about German generals being worried about inhumanity in the Siege of Paris, feeling bad about their prestige loss. Some years later they will starve millions to death in a years-long siege of Leningrad, turn the marvellous city into ruins with neverending bombardment, only aiming for extermination of every single inhabitant of that place...
Before WW1 there a certain aspect of honor and gentlemanly conduct with regards to war. The stalemate of WW1 killed that, as it was now more important to find ways to destroy the enemy with gas, aerial bombardments and shelling. Add to that the cruelty of Nazism and it's no wonder the Wehrmacht and the SS behaved in such a way in WW2.
Everyone suffered in ww2 and all sides committed war crimes. It's war it's what it is. Let's not cry about it war is war its brutal and bad. All wars there's suffering I should of said above. Again for the third time it's what it is it's ugly and bad. Be thankful your soft ass you don't have to worry about going to war ever
