***** It's the same people who don't 'understand the Bible'. Taking the story literally. But, don't most religions insist on taking everything literally. Until you understand, you don't.
This is Guy Ritchie’s best film and it is criminally slept on. It had an Ocean’s 11-like cast with a far more intriguing storyline. The soundtrack was amazing as well.
Fallen fkers like to show the truth. I think it shoed too much, that's why it is so hard to get. Almost like wiped. Maybe npc cant get it, or it was to made non npc'd to loode hope. Anyhow, once you depart - no more deals with the jeebuslucifer. Do not reincarnate. Unless you like this psychopathic hellrealm torture game.
Some versions of the movie are less clear than others. The version with the psychiatric explanation at the end makes it a lot easier to be understood. Regardless, I only understood the movie on my third attempt. It hit me quite hard when everything became clear.
i love how the chess move at the end says R,,,,,h8= HATE.K,,, F8 = FATE...awesome the fate of the king is always to die and the castle will always be there for the next king..the power behind the throne
ray johnson No offenses but, its obviously underrated, who in this world can understand what or who is the ego and how can you fight this stuff, people will call you crazy, its for a single share of us(sadly)
@@claudemirfirmino6897 I think you missed something. Avi won the chess match and easily - "you're quite good at this game cause I'm quite good at this game". Avi is the subconscious superego, and at least for Jake, was in control the whole time.
Funny how on a path to the true self, you end up understanding that you were always yourself and at the same you were not. Everything exist and does not exist at the same time. You hear something like that time to time, but only after years of training and searching, you start eventually realize that these "red shoes" were on you all the time, and there was nothing to fear cause everything is you and everything is not you at the same time. Shit. Love this game and you.
I watch this movie and still get amazed when it comes to this part. Theres this other part where Jake is hit by a car and he says "we are all monkeys wrapped in suits begging for the approval of one another' that shit hit me hard . Made me wonder and question my life
Checkmate!!! The Moment of Self Discovery to Revelation to Transformation to Understanding it's time for Self Growth. The Hardest/Painful part to a New You is, understanding the "Self Growth" phase.
@@kolumann kind of inspiring for me because i'm at a major depression and are starting to realise all of this, it's weird and also a kind of happiness i feel when I realized it. sry needed to share it with you. Saw the Movie 2008 I think and couldnt understand it directly and now its like the title says kind of a revelation. Incredible
@@imswk Dont remember, i will have to rewatch, but propably still dont get it tho :), if you speak about all of the psychologists, they were talking about idea of Jungs ego, ego was mr Gold and voice in the heads of people in this movie, i recommend reading Jung to understund this movie.
Be careful automatically assuming a position of "us"(smart) versus "them" (dumb) the movies message i believe drives home this weakness. The idea of understanding the complexities of the ego warrants extreme inner reflection. Every person experiences this transformation gradually or...in some cases (in my case) after watching revolver. Life is an ever expanding lesson and we all learn different aspects at different times. It is important to realize this as not to succumb to the power the ego has. It could be the difference of teaching and empowering others and hording knowledge and belittling. That is where the art of conversation plays a big role in society and right now is extremely tainted by the ego. Debating is no longer respectable discourse among peers, but rather yelling about ideals that the individual may or may not realize is even 'their own' to begin with. Love and peace youtube community. If you come across this youtube video and haven't seen revolver yet, dont wait any more and just go watch it...if you don't like it, watch it again.
@@rongarth9547 lmao sends ur ego into a battle with ur mind cleaner and u can't think ur way into it lol ya can't take it cuz it's about ur self n reflection
To those wondering if these 2 guys are real or not : they are not real guys but they sure are something real. Con... Chess... Conscious. They are his consciousness.
@@ayosirsnow I'm sorry but there is no way you can understand my comment if you don't watch the movie. Do this first and you will probably understand my comment.
@@imswk His conscience. Hence the "You're quite good at this game, Mr Greene. I know because I am quite good at this game." The ego (not his ego) is Mr Gold, in this movie.
@@geraltofrivia9424 I'm your huckleberry. You're wrong. According to the principles of Psychoanalysis, the conscious is comprised of three parts: ego, superego, and id. Jake, Avi, and the Italian guy make the conscious and are the components in respective order. The conscious ( you won't figure it out in this life so) is Al-Masih ad-Dajjal. Jake is short for Jacob, second son of Isaac, the supplanter of Esau. Green is short for COLONIAL GREENBACK - the precursor to the US dollar. If you remember in the movie Jake had a dire circulatory problem (economic recession, depression) that threatened his life. Goes the female doctor look at the IV bags - they are injecting gold and green to bring him back health. After, he becomes the central bank for his counterparts and is able to create fiat currency to loan various foreign manufacturers. If you know anything about central banking, you know about FRACTIONAL BANKING - If you don't, they're plenty of sources on RU-vid. Jacob displayed the The Great Depression era ponzi scheme con, the consumer housing con (Credit Default Obligation) 2000s, and the corporate lending scheme (Credit Loan Obligation) con of the present that will end markets as we know it. What is implied by his bags of fiat dollars (money uncoupled with gold) is that fractional banking is the keystone or (old) ultimate con. You see 90% percent of wealth doesn't exist. It's either all in our heads or in digital format. Oh, and we trust him.
I remember seeing a version of this film where Avi also says "If you try to destroy Him to protect them, they will destroy you to protect Him, ah, it's beautiful man", it looks like Ritchie decided to omit that in this Director's Cut
@@derekschipper8721 So there IS a third version! Goddamnit I first saw this on Netflix back in 2011 and have been chasing that version ever since. I'll have to look up the director's cut, cheers.
@@ItzSJbro Actually I think you get the most Dorothy & Paul in the US cut. The UK & Director's cuts are more focused on Jake's interplay with the ego and with the sharks.
I know some people will say this was too obvious of a plot twist....but....the plot twist isn't was never the point....Jake's awakening to his ego was the point of the film. This was just the cherry on the sundae....and oh how sweet it was....
All people should see at least one time this movie, we should all expect to evolve every now and then and hope not to get stuck on the same boring life that we own, hoping to be rescue by someone or something else.
Avi is the superego, cid is the Id, and Jake is the ego as well as the Federal Reserve (Mr. Green (colonial greenbacks) and Sam Gold. In psychoanalysis, the ego, Id and superego makes the consciousness, but the conscious is unaware of the Id and superego; the conscious is also unaware when the subconscious (Id, superego) is working against it. That said, this movie is an allegory of the US Federal Reserve - the three are "lenders of last resort" and lend to industry they know won't be able to pay them back. When the lendee can't pay, they'll take everything. The "con" is those dollars (formerly US Green backs - hence Mr. Green) are promissory notes for the exchange of gold, but there is no gold because the US monetary system decoupled from gold. This system is actually an old con from the Crusades. When Europe invaded the Middle East, they left their gold with gold smiths and were handed promissory notes for the amounts deposited. Well after awhile, those smiths started making loans backed by their holdings, but then they realized no one knew exactly how much gold they had on hand, because they used promissory (faith) for transactions. Both the Quran and Platos "The Republic" (400BC) warns about the dangers of this type of currency trading. It quickly leads to inflation, and the average person will be forced to borrow for survival and risk all their holdings. The lender my imply there was risk, but gold is never lent, so risk always on the borrower.
all I could find after all these years is this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kgIfugx3sfA.html , but it's literally just cut out from the movie
no we all hear voices all the time, everybody does you just believe all the time they are you ... ever swore you were going to do something (diet/stop smoking) then you hear a `go on its only one` ... well who said that?
I absolutely thank everyone who are explaining this movie... This movie ain't that twisted... It just requires too much of thinking and focusing thats why this one was hard to like...but i will say this... These kind of acting is NOT Jason's style...
What about those two ones? They have made it all: every death and wound here has been moved by them. They left all those souls to die in their mistakes, just to heir Macha's business. This is not a thriller, it's a tragedy.
0:29 *"Nobody knows where the enemy is, they don't even know he exists."* Explanation: none of the players are aware that they're playing in the devil's game.
They changed the ending did they not? I remember the ending was he realises those two guys were him all along and figments of his imagination that he developed in prison. The final scene was he's just sitting there by himself.
It's funny how the position on the chessboard keeps changing in the course of the game. At 0:38 there is no White Knight in the game, but one shows up a little bit later in the same game and I don't think it was promoted. :D
Music. What is the soundtrack? It is amazing and I can't get it out of my head. It feels like the prelude of a Mexican standoff /duel. Can anyone please name the music? I beg of you!!!

It's the end of the 101min US cut, which is also the one Netflix has; the original UK cut was 14 minutes longer. I think they both have their strengths, but I like the original cut better. When I watched the NF version I was waiting for the pool scene at the end and was disappointed when the film ended without it.
You may want to check that. I bought the American version back in 07 and was disappointed. Its been awhile, but I thought there was 40 mins edited out.
if this movie would have been made by famous actors, all those paid promoters self proclaimed "critics" and "movie websites" would give this movie 9 in 10.
it is not his imagination its more like his ego manifesting itself in a final stand to survive to be ultimately defeated in the movie the fear was put in the minds of these men yet there was nothing to fear except for the horrors they continuously created with there egotistical ways thus when he didn't kill the guy he broke the chain like the other two men
