This amp sounds so good. Like many have mentioned, the Highwind Direwolf would push this thing to a digustingly sick level. I know Brandon Ellis and Ben Eller are really really digging theirs, and it's my favorite OD I've used by far.
They are very clear on the web site...it makes it wider. Measure the outside of the cabinet and you'll see it stretches just a bit when engaged...but seriously..."Wide is an overall voicing change which affects both channels. Channel 1 will receive more push as well as chimier(sic) highs & fat lows. Channel 2 will predominantly experience an extension in the low end."
Your own cab sauce sounded great. Thanks for this man, the best overview of the G20 so far. I was after a Helix rack but may get this instead. I already have a Dark Terror and D-moll so another (mostly) analog amp seems a bit pointless though 🤔
I wish it didn't have the built in torpedo. I just want an affordable revv amp with a purple channel, but this thing costs just as much, if not more than a 5150III 50w 😔
I don't think the Torpedo part adds that much to the tag. The internal load maybe, but I think generally this is more versatile than a 5150. No fizz and a better clean channel + it really has everything a bedroom player needs. Maybe get a 5150 with a purple Revv pedal if you don't need any of the other stuff.
Everyone is asking for a Tube Screamer with this but you should try out the Highwind Direwolf with this and/or all your amp reviews. Brandon Ellis and Uncle Ben Eller both have one, I think. It's one of the sickest OD's!!
To me the They’re great in their own ways but the Revv G is not as difficult to get a great tone. You don’t necessarily need a boost pedal with the Revv but it’s essential for dialing in the Dual Rectifier. Imho
Can I play directly to my audio interface/computer and my speaker cab at the same time? Or if I connect it to my AI/computer would I only be able to run it through monitors connected to my computer?
I must admit that I am STILL baffled by how metal guys STILL don't understand the concept of a pedal platform, when I see them running distortion pedals into the amp's clean channel all the time. Seriously. What is the point of having a 5150+ when you always have it on the clean channel, and all your distortion is coming from a pedal? If you do that, then get a crystal clean Fender amp. If you are going to use a high-gain amp, then all your gain needs to be from the amp. This is not rocket science.
Well... distortion preamps sound amazing nowadays. Example would be the revv g3 and g4. Horizon devices apex and precision drive. Diezel herbert. What is wrong with running any of those into your clean channel?
100 percent agree with all this. I have a 6505 that I bought 10 years ago. I run a precision drive almost always on into a g3 on the clean channel. I also love my Precision into my distortion channel of the 6505. Imho rn though the fortin plugins are my jam.
Unrelated to the Revv, sorry but I gotta know, what's the color of that guitar? Looks silver, just wondering what the specific name is if you know. Also, that G20 sounds crushing!!!
What wave of friend is better? I guess the rev g20, that this great prs mt15, although I suppose that for the price it will be normal to be superior, don't you think?
1300 dollars and I still need pedals??? Are you playing thru any physical cabinets? Aggression levels-Didn't notice any change in tone. And how do you change your cabinets? Foot Switch? Bass tone at mid position is "warble". Are there any vids with this so called Torpedo software? Your statement-"Answer to our metal prayers"? Maybe to you, but not to me. All the vids I have seen and reviews read are all "metal". What happened to a "Blues type of Crunch". Basically want something to plug into my Scarlett Focusrite 2i12 Only thing I have to find is a place that sells one of these...and would let me return it. Thanks for the vid.
Amps should have less low mid at low volume and less sharp presence up loud. I hate when they become razor sharp when turned up! Hopefully this is not like that.
What's really clever here is that they didn't make the channels footswichable, so this little monster wouldn't compete with the big ones in a live application.
We make them in Canada :) Lots of cheaper ones are made in China etc. - which is fine, great way to get good value! Awesome time to be a guitarist on a budget. We're a small company and we could never compete with the massive companies making $200 modeling combo amps etc. so we just keep them made in Canada by us and focus on making the best gear we can.
@@RevvAmps I just got my G20 and I love it. The included cab sims are phenomenal, though I did load up an Engl XXL 4x12 as well. Keep up the good work, and thanks for making my decision to downsize from a Dual Rectifier an easy(ish) one.
I kinda miss the days where you miced a back breaking 100 Watt head for a 300 patron show because is fucking rules and didn't actually give a shit about front of house. People remember pain. Gap that ass. What?!
Pleaseeeeee do at least part of the demo with a tube screamer... pretty much every metal tone uses one, and it would be really, really nice to hear how the amp sounds tight
It costs 1300$... ofc its awesome... for that money I would expect it to bake my dinner every night! In EU it might just be even more expensive. Great video, btw, as always!
Revv pulled a fast one on this. They released the D20 saying it was a "pedal platform" and got everybody to buy one. Now they release the G20, which is what everybody really wanted. So everybody that bought a D20 should be able to trade it in on a G20.
Hey dude! They're very different amps - we already see our customers and artists just keeping D20 with pedals, or getting a G20 to keep both. We built the D20 first because it's what most people asked for, G20 is now also here for people who want high gain in the amp :) The pedals into D20 are still a great high gain tone a lot of artists are metal artists are gigging with. Just more options now!
For under a grand ($1000) one could buy Peavey Invective MH ($700) which is also available for preorder. It has built in boost, noise gate, dummy load, attenuator and other features,. For loading custom IRs you can get AMT Pangaea CP-100 ($200-ish).
