The Revv amps sound pretty killer and I do love how they're pretty unmistakable. Always happy to have some content from the original Doomsday Prepper of Tone
I own the 100P mrk3 and it’s such a beast of an amp. I haven’t played my Dual Rec since I got it. I find it sounds best when you dime the presence and depth and adjust the Eq from there. Great vid man!
I’m new to you & your channel…….but wanted to take a minute to say “Thank you” for the Revv Captures you created for the Quad Cortex. I have always wanted to try out a Revv amp & now I feel that I could buy one. I appreciate the time & effort you put into all of these gear tests. Peace! X-Mann
5:28 I could not agree more! I tried a Mesa Badlander and a Revv G20 at a Guitar Center, both through Vintage 30 speakers, and it felt like I had to fight the Mesa to get the tone I was looking for. I turn the Revv on and I had it! Balanced, tight, articulate, and percussive! It was love at first sight!
Like you mentioned Kyle, this definitely reminds me of a much more refined 5150 somewhat. This is definitely on the list for next year. Has its own thing going on and the purple channel is really different to what my other favorite amps sound like.
I just traded Soldano Hotrod 100+ head for a Revv Generator Mk3 P and I stayed up 4 hours playing through it. It a bad ass sounding amplifier and crystal clear gain structure and it doesn't even need a boost pedal
@@untoldguitarist doesn't even need a boost pedal. Just like my KSR Gemini. Pretty bad ass then. Next year I will be buying one for sure. I have a KSR Ares, Juno and Omega Granophyre I am tackling right now lol
I should let u borrow my old 1st gen generator 100. So u can try it. I have the 100p mkiii too, and the gain is definitely different from the purple channel. It’s before they had the color to the amps. It is just blue for clean, and red for distortion, but it doesn’t sound like the red channel. It’s like a mix between red and purple. Let me know if you’d wanna do a vid on it.
I just traded my Soldano Hotrod 100+ head for the MK3 P version and man it's definitely an upgrade all around....It has way more balls then Soldano Hotrod head ever did.
Amazing amp. Just got a 100p MKiii purple and It sounds great. Checked this vid before and after so I could say the amp is true to the sound here, and sounds great. The controls are way less touchy than my Mesa gear and the Ch.'s have a consistant tone in that you can't dial out the "sound" of that Ch. even though you roll on or off the tone. My dual rect. 3 Ch. F really changes the nature of the Ch. a lot. So if you like the sound you'll love the amp, but if you want a 3 Ch. Chameleon, it covers a lot of ground but sounds like the same amp consistantly.
WELL, I don't know about the amp, but this pre-roll ad for Marvel branded silicone rings has me thinking it's time for a new ring! 😂 nice riffin dude 💪
I find the purple a bit dry but the red mode makes it way more saturated. The green can also be very saturated with a boost or blended with an OD. Love the Dirty Shirley with the green. I still love the red channel best by Red.
Great sounding amplifier I really like it a lot. However that damn camera angle of your nuts lol I probably missed some awesome tones skipping each time you get to that frame! Thrash Damon’s junk cam has to go lmao! 🤣
I feel like the Purple channel is more aggressive and tighter because the Red channel is more saggy and fatter sounding, both are great just depends what you want :)
What Edgar said. I have the Generator 120 MkI, which has both those high gain channels, and it feels like the purple is best suited for rhythm and red for leads. So the purple is tighter and more aggressive, while the red channel is more saturated and fat sounding.
@@untoldguitarist I’m barely seeing this whoops 😂 but honestly I don’t even own a Revv and I want one at some point, hopefully you were able to get one 🙌🏻
Even on the low gain setting it almost sounded like the Revv mids are just a more is more type voicing? Like where other high gain amps have definitive areas of the midrange where they are more present, Revv seems to have multiple. Like someone sat down and said “these are all the good frequencies for guitar in the midrange. Let’s use em all.” Not in a spiky way. Kind of gives it an engineered hifi sound to my ears that is actually nice.
Kyle, do you find the Revv has any Bogner similarities? I'm a big Bogner fan but my Shiva sounded too polite. I want the Uberschall type gain which I hear is the Revv Red channel and then I'd have the great crunch channel too. Do you find it forgiving or easier to play or more dry? Thanks Kyle!
Hey Rich! I'd def say the Red channel shares characteristics with the Uberschall, but at the same time has it's own thing. The Fat/Bright/Cut switches, along with aggression modes really allow you to tailor the sound to your liking so you can get a lot from just the red channel alone!
@@belligerentamateur Thanks Kyle! Appreciate it. It seems like such a great and complete amp with so many tones from clean to classic crunch to 90s rock/grunge/metal to modern metal. Thanks for such a great review and demo. :)
I love that with the Revv you have two high gain channels to set as you like. I know you like the EVH amps and you tested the Engl Savage. Did you find one more forgiving or saturated than the others out of Revv, Engl and EVH? Also may look at Mezzabarba. :)
Hey ole buddy I got a question, how come most channels are full of those stupid advertisment s while trying to watch a RU-vid video? Your videos are full of advertisements and so are many others but not all?I've noticed that when watching ola videos there aren't any interruptions due to advertisment s? .I don't know how or why his channel is ad free but at least for me it is? I just wanted to pick your brain about it.
