So ... The family money is like a tip jar at Salsa Brava. Example, Let's say that Kody is a restaurant owner. It's up to him to divvy up the tips to the staff. Cook,(Christine), waitresses,(Jenelle &Meri ), favorite hostess & host,( Kody & Robyn). The ones that bust their butts the most lose their hard made tips.

I think Janelle put the most money in, which breaks my heart to see that she got the least back out. She was the only one with a steady legit job

At one point the shows ratings got very low and TLC was going to cancel it. Kody basically begged TLC to keep the show going and they’d take a huge pay cut.

Robyn didn’t want Meri to go to college cause the more of them that finished college the more insecure those without will be. Also it’s another tool to keep women in those groupings, to limit their options. It seems most or all started college. I think only Janelle finished?

Marketing is to get people to your site. When people are already at your site and don't want your products, marketing can't change that. I remember looking on their site early on, open to buying. At that time, most of the jewelry was about polygamy. Why would I want a necklace basically symbolizing that my husband sleeps with other women, when my husband did not sleep with other women? The polygamy customer base is small so they business wasn't set up to work from the beginning.

This episode also highlights another big lie/contradiction that’s used against Meri later on in the show…when Meri asked “the family” for a loan (which Kody initially agreed to until he spoke to Robyn) for the B&B, the wives all said no because she didn’t have a business plan. Robyn was very vocal about “we’ve all always had to provide business plans if we’re asking for money from the family for a business”. Yet this episode clearly shows Robyn didn’t have a business plan for MSWC, they were rushing to get one done before this pitch. Yet, the family had already invested in it to get it started well before this point. I’m glad Meri got it done without them, if they’d had any control in running the B&B business (another condition for their loan…and another contradiction because while the OG3s certainly did a lot of work for MSWC, they didn’t appear to have ANY say in how it was run), I’m pretty sure it would have been run into the ground. On a positive note, love your content…also just purchased my first Nikki Haverstock book, super excited!

Meri absolutely reveled in the debates. She was bragging that she's not nervous. So I have never thought that the shark tank reaction made sense.

IMO since they already had the foot traffic then instead of pro sister wife merch they should’ve sold a piece specific to each wife. I doubt they’d consider that though since it would easily show who has the most support.

Robyn thought they could make money off merchandise and she could get 3-4 other people to do most the world and get full bragging rights as it was her idea. Polygamists are poor. I feel like Mary is uncomfortable because it’s not a situation or topic she is comfortable with. And it’s high stakes “public” speaking that needs to be professional. She read from the paper during the commitment ceremony and during the debate she didn’t really have to have anything prepared. Plus it seemed like she didn’t think she would have to participate initially. I know I get nervous giving regular employee benefits presentations and have to have everything written out word for word on the slides. If I had to present on something I wasn’t knowledgeable on… I’d die.

Before Gwendolyn stopped doing her review of the Sister Wives episodes here on RU-vid, she was answering questions from her viewers. Someone asked Gwendolyn about Meri and the accusations that she was violent towards the children, the answer Gwendolyn gave was a flat out no. Gwendolyn said that Meri was the only one of the parents who intervened when the children misbehaved, and according to Gwendolyn it was normal that someone followed the rules and stopped them. Gwendolyn's wife, unfortunately can't remember her name, then added to this with Gwendolyn and said that what Meri had done was much milder than any parent she knew as a child and she wanted to say that Meri was criticized so harshly because that she was alone in this while the other parents ignored things. Then of course Robyn came along and her children were and still are wrapped in cotton wool, so for Robyn these parenting methods of the Brown family were pure barbarism, it applied to all the parents because her children were rejected because they did not know the Brown way. I'm not a parent but I know a lot of parents so I've seen in real life how much stress it is for everyone when the parents don't agree on whether to follow the rules, so it's only natural that the way four parents handled things would be different did not help. We know that in polygamous families like this there is a clear division of labor and it seems that it was Meri's job to act if the rules were not followed and Kody was the one who put her in the role. Both Paedon and Mykelti have spoken badly about Meri scolding them when they were children, but both have also spoken positively about their father slapping them. I don't know how it's done in the United States, but in the years when the Brown children were children, spanking was already banned as a punishment for children here in Iceland. So, in my eyes, spanking is violence, but scolding is part of parenting if children fail to follow the rules. What we know about Paedon and Mykelti is that they broke all the rules to get their mother's attention. That behavior meant that Christine had to send Mykelti away for a while because she couldn't handle the kid, and Paedon has long ago abused his sister Gwendolyn so much that she, as an adult, doesn't dare to be around him. So based on everything I've seen from the family and also based on what Gwendolyn, Mykelti and Paedon have to say about the situation along with what Christine and Kody have said it's obvious that anyone who would have been responsible for raising Mykelti and Paedon on their time would have scolded them for bad behavior.
