The fact there are big numbers of people think GN is responding "childishly" or "unprofessional" is mind boggling. What is wrong with the world today?

Imagine investing your time, money, hard work and passion just for linus to misrepresent your prototype, trash it, and then auction it off to a potential competitor

I think it's a disservice to call it drama. Steve was just doing his job

Nobody is immune to criticism. Everybody has flaws. Linus should have taken the criticism professionally. A good friend is someone who point out your flaws and tell you about those flaws in helping you make a better person. I am not saying just go point every damn flaw in every other person. I am saying that if someone did something wrong and it is hurting someone else or him/her self then point out that mistake and help him by saying, Hey, you did this wrong and by doing that you make yourself better.

It's difficult to feel that much sympathy considering how Linus' ignorance were proven to be intentional.

I like both LTT and GN, but the way LTT's attitude and what they did to Billet Labs prototype is just unforgiveable. You don't auction someone else's property, let alone a confidential one like a prototype.

Can't have been easy for Steve to call out someone he knows professionally and personally. Remember, he was the one who called up Linus at 3am when he noticed their channel being hacked.

The biggest disrespect that LTT could have done was to put GN in the position they did and expect some favorable bias from GN. That puts GN on the hook with their own reputation where only they suffer a fallout that LTT could much more easily weather, but GN may not be able to. LTT essentially shot a friend in the face because they could not just deal with it like they know they should have after watching dozens of clusterfucks go down the exact same way from other brands. Now the relationship is fractured because GN had the conviction to do the right thing.

GN weren't even beefing. It was literally just pointing out flaws in their testing and journalistic ethics. It wasnt like they put out a hit piece. LTT could have addressed this easily and moved on if it wasnt for the Madisson stuff coming out shortly after.

Seriously, it's a very bad idea to start an apology video with "it's honestly really hard when people..." It not only turns the apology into a whiny "oh woe is me!" rant, but it shifts blame. People don't like that.

used to write for a gaming magazine in the 90s that was at "war" about integrity with other gaming magazines in my small european country. I can't help but smile in what is happening, because I was 16 when that shit was happening, and I can't imagine dealing with this as a grown up :D

It is sad what's happening. We may have grown up with LTT but these recent issues will need to be sorted. If they do that. Maybe things can be better

GN did nothing but his job and provided the true information for each benchmark they tested. Steve even acknowledged that sharing the film regarding the incident makes him uncomfortable, but he has to do it; why? Because it's his job, no matter what or how you're feeling, you must complete your duty as it is assigned to you, it is solely your responsibility to make it happen, and you choose to, putting friendship and feelings makes the quality of the work less efficient because you muster up unnecessary yet unwanted emotional energy towards your workload. To summarize, never take things personally at work.

There has been a group of people, who've followed Linus since his days in the house office, constantly saying to him everywhere they can that he needs to do better quality control, get facts right, and for the love of almighty make correct, consistent and readable graphs. But nope, Lie-nus being the narcissist he is didn't listen to actual feedback in time.

Feel like this is making things feel way more parasocial and more dramatic than it needs to be. People who viewed Linus and his team as their best friend are now aware of the fact that they can actually have glaring flaws that need to be corrected. Being called out on bad actions and mistakes, is correction. Being forced to take accountability is correction, especially when adhered to. Does it mean them apologizing and saying they'll address things means it's all water under the bridge? No, of course not. Scrutiny should continue to make sure there aren't further issues like what transpired. But it's equally childish to go "Jimmy you lied to me about my computer I'm not your friend anymore i hate you". As for claims of poor working environment and inappropriate behavior, that has to transpire gradually. After all, it hasn't been long since Bayonetta's VA literally lied about everything and had everyone running believing her and attacking Platinum Games only to find out it was all bullshit. Claims should be taken seriously but also not be jumped on to be taken as fact. ESPECIALLY with the timing of it. Gamers Nexus did a good service both to viewers, and for Linus Media Group. Doesn't mean they're suddenly evil horrible people. But an issue occurs when you try treating an entertainer's word as gospel and elevate him to the likes of PC gaming God.

This isnt about not being "friends" or drama, I knew "content creators" would misunderstand this(for the sake of easy drama content)... This is about integrity, not emotions.

The apology video from LTT was exactly like watching one of DSP Gaming's rambles when he screws up and fake apologizes. You just know they're not gonna do everything that they said in that video.

Linus & his employees started this drama by throwing shade at Gamer Nexus. Gamer nexus simply responded with truth. LTT is not the gold standard of tech reviews their reviews are not credible so they should be self aware before insulting other channels

I don't think GN thought this would cause this much fallout, and if Linus thinks this kind of fallout was intended then that's on him. And anyone who actually cares about the brand and image that they have created for themselves should welcome their friends and colleagues calling them out when they act badly. There's no reason they cant still be friendly after all of the dust settles. If linus has any integrity at all he will realize this wasn't some sort of personal attack, and that GN is just trying to do whats best for the sake of everyone.

A few months ago it was Steve from GN who mentioned basically that with the built of the labs, it was going to be basically gloves off towards Linus since they are no longer the small niche tech company they once where but basically a 100+ staffed serious company. The things they do, they promote, matter. Have impact on the tech community. To then be LTT and point towards GN and HarborUnboxed as being small and basically 'bad at testing' a few months later baffles me. Only point out others' mistakes if you are sure you don't make loads yourself. Guess the 100+ people company never got that memo.

Its honestly so sad to see. Fell in love with computers bc ltt and found so many other good channels and learned so much. But watching the rise and potential fall of ltt the past few years has been interesting.
