To be honest, the Old Guardian Su-Han tol that no one was allowed to keep their miraculous out of battle, so Tikki didn't have time to interact with any other Ladybug outside of professionalism

Honestly, every time Marinette TRIED to talk to Adrien, I had to force myself not to skip the scene. Her reactions were way too exaggerated. I remember there was this one episode in which she STOLE his phone to delete her voice message, I understand that it's embarrassing but I felt like it was an opportunity for the show to address her obsession. Realistically, it would be almost impossible to NOT know someone has a crush on you if they were being as obvious as Marinette was (literally everyone in their class knows about Marinette's crush but Adrien). We have all seen Adrien being uncomfortable when Chloe touches him, so what if Adrien knew about Marinette's obsession with him and was slightly uncomfortable but didn't want to reject her cause of his "nice guy" persona? What if Marinette was caught trying to delete the message? That would've given the show a chance to address the toxic infatuation and given Marinette a little more character development after getting rejected to mature.
Unfortunately she has always zero consequences for her actions. Its okay to have flaws, but she never learns anything. In further seasons this changes a little bit... but it's not enough. Everyone loves her and says she's the best person ever. And I'm like.... are you guys blind.
The thing about Yandere Simulator is that we, as a mature audience, know Ayano is not a good person. But Marinette is displayed as a role model to young children and is never called out on her bs but only praised. I feel like a crush would have worked better if she was in love with a video game character instead of a real person because what I would have done if I was in charge I would have took from Nagi (even know that game was not even out yet so she did not even exist but I'm just saying I will have Marinette to be similar to her not be exactly like her and it comes to personality just that one personality trade am about to mention) from Neo the world ends with you because Nagi she is in love with a character in a mobile game she's in love with that also got an anime adaptation that she also loves the character she's in love with from that is Lord termini who happens to look like sho so when she sees him for the first time in the game she just drooling over him and can't say anything because of him looking like a video game character that she's in love with and then if you did that with Marinette it would have fixed some of her character because I'm just saying it would have made her crush was creepy because it's more like she's in love with the video game character then the real person but you also fix the problem with her wanting to know everything about him because she does not know everything about Adrian she knows everything about the video game character who looks like him but not the actual person there you have her learning about him and actually falling in love with him but you still have the crush she has on him but only because he looks like a video game character that she has a crush on that she does that and then you can even have a scene when she saw us talking about stuff she knows about Adrian but then she realizes what she is saying is actually just detailed about the video game character and they think she's and she mistakes Adrian's personality for the video game character and then she has to learn who he really is it works a lot better than the actual show but it also is too different but I also kind of like this we imagining I have of her crush
It's onestly not even that the problem (even if, yes, It Is a big problem), it's that the show tries to pretend She Is flawed and relateble, but in actuality, She can basicly do anything perfectly and who doesn't beg and lick her shoes Is a villain. She Is apparently a super Genius Who can do everything correctly, Just because. And I have nothing against intelligent characters, but her intelligence it's not really a trait, it's used by the story as an Easy way ticket to win conflicts. Even in season 1, Just check out the Number of things She does, it's ridiculous. And I'm not willing to care since She does it so effortessly I have no Reason to be engage in whatever thing She Is doing, because She Is going to solve it with her super talent we didn't know She had up until now. She Is also super manipulative and abusive, I have no idea why peaple want her toghether with Adrian
True, Mari ISN’T a good role model. She’s creepy asf. Even when this show first came out in 2015, I was 12 at the time and KNEW that the girl was a creep.
It’s actually pretty interesting how lacking Marinette’s Chinese heirtage influences her life. Her mother moved from china to France, changed her first name to fit in better and married Tom after a few years, but we still don’t know why she did all that. She’s not in contact with her family, her uncle who she hasn’t seen before Marinatte was born who only stopped by because he had other business in Paris, and she didn’t even stick around to visit instead delegating her daughter who doesn’t speak a word of mandarin to welcome her grand uncle that she’s never met or know much about. In the Shanghigh special when Marinette goes to visit said grand uncle she sees a picture of her mom as a child whom she’s never seen at that age but also discovers that her mother has a sister that Marinette had no privious knowledge of until that moment. I don’t know if it’s all a mishap of the writers or if it’s leading to something bigger, I guess we’ll see.
its kinda weird too bc her mom still wears a qipao/cheongsam, which...idk, maybe chinese women in france still wear it as an everyday sort of outfit? but i've generally only seen it worn during the new year or other special occasions. and the qipao sabine wears has smth funky going on with the way it's fastened to her left instead of her right.
It's even strange considering how the Miraculous is very Asian coded I choose to say Asian coded instead of Chinese because the Master Fu's temple seemed to be somwhere at Tibet. Anyways you'd think Marinette's understanding of Chinese culture would help her understand the Miraculous better, like the 12 zodiacs, yin and yang, maybe she even understands some Mandarin characters but NOPE none of that
@@LivVirtual I don’t know anything about that garment, but in my Western eyes and presumably Western audiences it looks like generic Asian clothing so perhaps that’s what the designers were going for without thinking about it deeply, which makes sense coming from the ML writing team.
I really wish they could have incorporated some more Chinese elements into her design. In the rewrite I'm working on,I decided to make Marinette's full Chinese or half Chinese half another Asian(I settled on her being Chinese- Filipino). I don't have anything against biracial people but I found that this way,she has no excuse to not know her culture and teach the viewers about Chinese culture.
I honestly feel like Chloe is the most interesting and human character in the show and I hate how they completely ruined her in the season three finale by taking away all her character depth and replacing her with the bland piece of bread that is Zoe which litterally makes NO sense since all the other non zodiac miraculous holders are the main characters

Ladybug could've helped guide her to a better path. Chloe already apologised and admitted her wrongdoings. Her friendship with Sabrina was said to be genuine despite her not really knowing how proper friendship dynamics work. They only slapped Zoe there and had everyone showering praises on her to make Chloe look worse in comparison, because the creator *doesn't* want Chloe to learn from her mistakes and become a better person. Once a bully, always a bully, apparently.
chloe was my favorite character because of the potential she had (like when she first became queen bee and there were fanworks of her starting to get along with LB and CN and how she realizes shes not a good person and tries to do better and all) but then they completely threw that out and made her the absolute worst just because the head writer hates her

Luka is SUCH a GOOD PERSON, he's so considerate and caring, he puts other people's safety over his. Luka deserves better than Mari, Luka is honestly one of the best characters in the show and I'm sad to see that he's in one of the worst tv shiws

I truly believe one of the biggest problems is Thomas austruc himself. He's really problematic and doesn't take kindly to any kind of criticism. He blocks those who disagree with him and takes things personally. For example, Chloe could've gotten a really good redemption but because Thomas didn't like Chloe, he completely ruined it. If it were someone else that was actually open to the viewers criticism and not problematic the show would've been better. Not perfect, but better.
Honestly he didn't even have to give Chloe a redemption arc, personally i feel like the show would be at least watchable if Marinette stopped playing favs and stopped prioritizing her own needs over the city 💀 Girl misused her powers so many times, it would have been fine if she only did it once or twice and then realized that what she's doing is wrong. Kagami is my favorite character from Miraculous, everyone hated her for being Adrien’s love interest but she was one of the best written girls in miraculous. Kagami was like Adrien and related to him and their relationship was actually cute because Kagami actually acted like a girl with a crush, she was reserved because she didn’t have many social skills but she tries to communicate with Adrien. I honestly rlly prefer her over Marinette

Yes, I agree on this so much too. Marinette is lying without feeling any remorse, but her lies are always painted as "cute" and "clumsy", while Lila's lies are downright manipulative and evil (and make zero sense btw and it was never properly explained why she does that in the first place). And yeah, when Marinette lies for the sake of her secret identity it's understandable, but she quite often lies because of her selfish needs (ahem being with Adrien ahem). Best example is Shanghai special. Also it's a great example of her spoiled nature. The difference of Chloe using her father to fulfill her wants and Marinette using her parents for the same reason is really small - Chloe *demands* while Marinette manipulates them into believing her. I'd even think that Chloe is, in fact, more honest in comparison because if she wanted to go to Shanghai just to be with Adrien, she'd fecking say so in the first place and wouldn't come up with the "I wanna know my culture better" bs. Chloe is much more of a "clear note" than Marinette is and wears her heart on her sleeve most of the time. Her attitude is obnoxious and she lets everyone know that. Honestly, it's pretty disturbing how Marinette uses people who care for her though. And her Ladybug ego is an even bigger hypocrite.
It's impresive how the male characters are able to move on after a "No" (Except Chat Noir, because he is also a stalker) Nino gets rejected, bum! Girlfriend Nathaniel gets rejected, bum! Boyfriend. Luka gets rejected "It's okay, I don't want to own you, your happiness is more important" But Adrien and the gals are literally walking redflags. P.S: The dark comedy idea is absolutly amazing

You know, I normally hate when people say they “fixed” a character, as I usually don’t find much wrong with the characters in question. But everything about Marinette has gone so far down hill since season 1, and it’s the main reason why I stopped watching Miraculous; I find that fanfiction portrays her in a far more enjoyable light than the show does (even the cringy, authored-by-a-12-year-old Wattpad stories do her character more justice). I got so much secondhand embarrassment from her extreme, jealous behaviors, and while there are plenty of teenage girls that are like that, I find it to be unfitting for the storyline and her role as a character.
That kind of characterization fits a side or a background character. For the kind of show and character this series is trying to portray, it is *not* fitting for a main character in any way. Especially if they're supposed to be a role model for little kids, boys, girls or others.

Yeah. As far as i remember, only ONE person in the show actually says this is creppy (Alex), and even then, a few episodes later they just treat it as Alex being mean at first and then she "changed her mind".

When season 1 first came out, i used to think her behavior was cute because the show treated as if it was and because the voice actors and people marketing the show treated it as your normal teenage love story. Only recently i started looking more of it as creepy and potentially toxic, if i imagined it as something "cute", imagine how many kids tried to act the same way as her because nobody said it was something bad.

As a veteran fan of Miraculous (have followed the show since it’s release in 2015) I appreciate the issues you brought up. I haven’t enjoyed Adrien and Marinette’s relationship for years now, and I honestly wish that the PV (anime) version had gone through instead. The PV version had a much more interesting dynamic, with Felix (who was later replaced by Adrien) being cursed with bad luck via his ring, and the only way to get rid of this curse was to get a kiss from Ladybug. Because of this, he begins flirting with and pursuing her, trying to manipulate a kiss out of her. This is a way more compelling premise, since one of our protagonists starts out at a place where he’s frankly not a good person. We’ve still got the dramatic irony of them not knowing the other’s identity, but now we can almost route for their identities staying secret, since we know that the minute Felix figures out Marinette is Ladybug he’s going to use her crush on him to manipulate her into getting rid of his curse. And the romance part is still compelling because, as the show goes on, Felix can start to actually develop feelings for Ladybug. Now he has the inner conflict of wanting to cure his curse, but not wanting to hurt Ladybug. His full realization of him being in love with Ladybug can culminate to a scene where Ladybug gets attacked by a love-themed Akuma. Then, Ladybug will start being flirty and sort of throws herself at Chat Noir. He recognizes this is a chance to get rid of his curse by kissing her, but he chooses not to, because at this point he’s grown to not only love Ladybug, but has also become way less jaded towards the world, and is less selfish. He recognizes that taking advantage of her at a moment like that is terrible. The worst part is he knows that prior to really getting to know Ladybug he would’ve taken this chance with no hesitation, which makes him angry at his past self. It makes him strive to be a better person, someone that’s actually worthy of Ladybug’s love. The bad luck sucks, but now it’s worth the struggle if it means being with Ladybug, if not as a lover then at least as a friend. A dark twist that could’ve been added is that the bad luck is actually slowly killing Felix. It could be something that’s omitted from the audience for a while, so that it seems he just experiences harmless inconveniences. Then, when we find out why Felix hates the bad luck so much, it really hits us hard. It helps us understand why Felix was so desperate and willing to do something so immoral, and makes us question if we would do the same with that given context Aaa going through the hypothetical scenarios for a show that’ll never happen is so sad. I don’t hate Adrien as a character, but Felix is just much more compelling in my opinion. Adrien doesn't really get time to shine, which is a shame because his side of the storyline is much more interesting than the slice of life stuff we get from Marinette. Like at this point I’m only watching Miraculous to see how the mystery of Adrien’s mom unfolds, and even that is starting to be less compelling now that we've been shown her comatose(?) body so many times. Aside from my ramblings about the wasted potential, Thank you for sharing your redesign! I really love the gold accents of the suit, since her canon suits that have gold are the best, and the combo of gold and red makes her suit pop more. It also works narratively, what with her having the most powerful Miraculous.

Ok. I'd totally love to see someone flesh this story out FR. I LOVE how well you layed it out! I'd love to see how Felix and Marionette would work! Something else we could add is on Marionette's side seeing as she did have a crush on Felix. Maybe she could learn about Felix's curse but not know exactly how it works and actually show her love for Felix MATURELY by trying desperately to try to find any possible way to break it. It'd be MUCH more healthy of a way for her to show her affection for her crush
I think Adrien should have been the main character, his story is so interesting, I think his relationship if Chloe would be cool, like Chloe does something mean and makes Adrien sad, yet she and Adrien makeup and something cute happens, and Chloe's pettiness and Adrien's modestness make a cute enemies to lovers/opposites attract kind of story with a hint of childhood friends
if adrien was the main character, it would be so interesting to see chloe through his eyes, like he sees her as his only friend and someone he has been close to since childhood and they are both rich kids who dont get enough attention from their parents because they are either absent/dead/working and have expectations and all, but everyone else in the class sees chloe as the absolute worst. Really what I would have done is first of all I'm going to change the show drastically in a very different direction because I feel like what would have worked is we have Marinette as the main character but we have Adrian as the chosen one character it would have worked a lot better than oh Marinette you're the chosen one because making the main character not to chosen one but their partner is the chosen one looks a lot better and also if I was Marinette to have more character growth as a character and grow past it have a feeling like she's second Fido which is why she's not in love with cat noir it would have looked a lot better if that was the case I don't know how you would like that but that looks a lot better and can be done
If I'm being totally fair, Adrien actually IS a celebrity. He's a model that works mostly for his father's fashion company. So it's not like Marinette having a celebrity crush style interest in Adrien would be unwarranted. The only part of it that doesn't really work is, if she's got a celebrity crush on him, why did she start out not trusting him at all? It would make more sense if she initially had that celebrity crush on him well before they actually met, and following actually meeting him, she either has to spend her time trying to figure out how to deal with this literal celebrity she basically worships being in the halls of her school everyday, or she becomes kinda off put by him as her initial concept of him falls apart either immediately or over time. That second option still leaves the ability for her to put up a front around her friends who insist she should be with him as well. Also, in regards to Luka, from what I've seen of him and Marinette, she has shown legitimate interest in him, and I'd wholeheartedly say he's a significantly better romantic option for her. Granted, as he's presented now, he doesn't have a lot going for him as a character outside of being a musician and a generally nice dude, but his introduction implies that he can read people so easily that he can just look at somebody and then play music that matches the mood they're in and/or what he sees in that person's soul, and I find that specific idea interesting. He might be low key interested in divination (and possibly other things relating to witchcraft) and he uses music as a means of divination. It would also be really cool to explore his connection to his younger sister, Juleka, and possibly his sister's best friend, Rose, because it's implied that Juleka and Rose have been close for a long time and there are things about Rose specifically that it would be cool to know if he's aware of or has any involvement with. But anyway, the reason I say Marinette and Luka would be better together is not only do I see NONE of Marinette's stalker tendencies on display when it comes to Luka (though I might be wrong since I didn't get super far into the show), but despite her still having some of the nervous habits she does when she's around Adrien, it doesn't seem anywhere near as crippling. There's also an artist boy named Nathan who liked her, and between the two of them, I get the concept that Marinette would be better off in a relationship with somebody she can share her creative passions with. She technically could do that with Adrien since he's a model and she probably imagines herself designing clothes for him to wear, but it feels to me like she'd be happy with another creative that she can really grow and collaborate with, and I see more potential for that kind of thing with Luka and even Nathan.

Like how she always is about to confess, or how they get so close, but she shuts it down immediately. Maybe out of fear if he rejects her, because she doesn’t want to lose the one thing that keeps her “grounded”.
i wish they had expanded on the previous lady bugs and cat noirs and the kwamis, because it's pretty implied they didn't see the kwamis as living beings, since Plag gets emotional/surprised whenever Adrien shows pity or emphaty for him. I think it would be a great point in the history for Marinette and Tikki / Adrien and Plagg to understand each other better and for the kwamis to maybe just try and tutor the literal 14 yrs olds that they are stuck whit
Talking about season 3 and 4, I have a bone to pick with what they did to Chloe. Chloe has always been a spoiled brat and honestly kinda a bitch. It would have been fine if they just kept her that way She's a side character who's bully and, in kids' shows, those kind of characters are pretty one dimensional. But then, we meet her absent mom who's just like her but much worse, and we see that everything Chloe does is imitate her mom because she really loves and just wants her mom to notice her, Chloe wants to have a mother-daughter relationship like everyone else has. And then Chloe accidentally gets the Bee miraculous and becomes a superhero. Sure, at first, she's still selfish and causes trouble but she got better. She learnt from her mistakes, she tries to become a better person to be worthy of being a hero, and we see her fail, we see her get back up, and we see her succeed in little ways. She was even the first person to resist Hawkmoth powers! We see her slowly but surely becoming a genuinely good person... And then they just threw all that character development out of the window and she reverted back to her old self and sometimes even worse than her old self! Wtf! That was an actually decent redemption arc they had going! All of that for nothing! And then they actually had the audacity to create "Chloe's half-sister, Zoe" who's apparently "Chloe but nice and good" (and also bland af) and have her replace Chloe as the Bee miraculous holder! Zoe is literally just Chloe at the end of the redemption arc but without all the sass and personality. What!? Also, Zoe's Bee hero design is also not as good as Chloe's buy that's a minor point.
Also Zoe's costume looks like a wasp, and the name Vesperia pretty much mean wasp... and she has the bee miraculous. Chloe became Queen WASP when she was akumatized... hopefully the writers aren't as bad as they seem and are going to make Zoe some kind of villain

Honnestly, I haven't watched the show, but I've read some pretty good fanfics, so I kinda got into the fandom, and obviously now I want to write some. And I think a way to make Marinette more interesting would be to make her mirror Adrien. Adrien is maybe the easier character to write in this show, because he has basic internal drive and conflict (being himself/making friends VS pleasing his father), which is easy to identify and use when writing him ; and a link with the main plot (more freedom to be himself as Chat Noir + HawkMoth identity) that makes him relevant to the plot. Adrien's personnal conflict is woven into the main plot of the story, which is what a good story should do. If Marinette has that, I haven't found it (if y'all have found it, I'll be sincerely happy to hear about it). At best, she has insecurities, and being Ladybug helps her overcome them. But that's pretty light, and I feel that with so little, kinda anybody could be Ladybug... So I think a way to make her more pertinent would be to have her mirror Adrien's ark/conflict: Being Chat Noir allows Adrien to have more freedom to explore who he is, without risking his relation with his father (which, you know, is a really good starting point because it allows him to escape his main internal conflict, which in a well-written story could end up biting him back in a very satisfactory way, especially considering HawkMoth identity. Like, that's really a perfect set up for character development and growth). Well then, maybe for Marinette, being Ladybug comes with a loss of freedom: she doesn't have time to design or sew anymore, she has to lie to her family and friends which weigh on her. She has difficulties dealing with the workload that comes with being Ladybug, because she isn't used to such a full schedule - contrary to Adrien. Ladybug's interventions take on her freetime, while for Adrien, it is freetime. She still appreciate being Ladybug, because being given responsabilities, and succesfully managing them, makes her feel more like a grown-up (which basically all teenagers want, at that age), and makes her feel more confident in herself. She manages to protect Paris, that's certainly the proof she's worth something. And that would make a fundamental difference between them: for Adrien being Chat Noir means freedom. For Marinette, being Ladybug means responsability. Which is an interesting dychotomia if you want to make a theme about growing up (and aren't all kids shows about growing up), because being adult means both freedom AND responsabilities, and globally, in real life, they come together. And if we keep this idea of being a superhero as a parallel of growing up, I think their whole love-square with only 2 characters can work pretty well - under the condition of actually doing an identity reveal. One of the thing you learn while growing up is the notion of nuance: things are rarely all black or white, and people espacially are complicated. And teenage years are usually the moment when you realize that relationships are complicated. And I think the whole secret-identity masked-superheroes thing can work pretty well with that : when discovering each other identity, Marinette and Adrien realize they don't really know each other, and it's the occasion to learn that people have depth, and different facets, and wear different masks depending on the situation, and it doesn't always mean any of these masks are fake. And that can be the occasion for Marinette to realize she has been absolutly creepy. It's not even hard to still have them end up together, they just have to actually learn to know each other, and they can very well really fall in love with each other. And then you get the villain identity reveal, and personnal conflict, and arguments, and you make the kids cry. *evil laugh* Anyway, I'm not sure if that could really work for a kid show, maybe it's more highschoolers-oriented than middleschooler-oriented. But I feel like the show has no real theme or message, plot-wise, and is pretty bad at writing actual characters. I mean, it's not a fair comparison, but AtlA was a kid show and had both a theme, a message, and fleshed out characters. So, like, that's doable. And I was nice, I talked only about Marinette (and Adrien, but like, if your only 2 protagonists aren't coherents with each other, you have a problem). Because there are a lot of other things that I want to talk about, and whose potential where wasted. But this comment is already long enough.
I think the show is actually targeted towards elementary schoolers? I mean, everything you outlined would work PERFECTLY for middle schoolers (I would know, I am one. [or was until a month ago])
Having gotten into this show as a preteen and still watching it as a mere guilty pleasure now that I'm an adult, it's really hit me how there is absolutely no stakes at all, especially in the later seasons. The first couple of seasons felt they had some semblance of a larger overarching plot whereas the third season and beyond just erases that (that and the fact that the timeline is absolute hell to discern, coming from someone who absolutely loves to create timelines). I'm not entirely sure when exactly the time resets start (maybe "Chat Blanc" I believe) but the concept of a time travelling miraculous throws off the whole direction of the show. At least with the snake miraculous it's only limited to 5 minute increments (honestly the rabbit miraculous should have been something simple like speed). Due to this element, every episode feels meaningless as it will all get reversed anyways which makes the viewer take little stock in the story. There's a ton more I would love to go on about (especially the undercooked characters, complete disregard for Chloe's development, and complicated storyline/release schedule) but that would warrant a whole blog post.
they could add the stakes back in by having the bunny and snake miraculous get lost during a battle. have a whole season of them missing, then have an bunny vs snake battle to wrap up that plot line

I'm assuming one of the holders goes dark or becomes an anti-hero (although I don't know if I trust them with redemption arcs and morally grey characters considering what happened to Chloe) and because the powers are so similar Ladybug enlists the help of the other to combat the power. Well, time travelling in media almost always ends up as total mess. Well, it's hard to not happen as the very assumption that one can freely jump over time line and change it... is by itself bound to case logical error... it kinda already is by itself (as effect cannot precede the cause... well, we can perhaps make and assumption about some "pointer" to the actual time which can be moved back and forth, but the idea itself is questionable - but sometimes when it doesn't create direct contradiction then it can be accepted with some soft logic requirements about time travel - and would get broke when there are two person who tried to time travel.. it isn't enough to solve the problem anyway) - and such way of working was exactly how bunny miraculous works... even including most ridiculous tropes about time travels (like the effect of change being applied to reality gradually(Bunnix starting to gradually disappear)). People can say all they want about how Marinete is badly written etc. but that doesn't change a fact, that most broken thing in this series is time travel (though honestly I know only 3 cases when the time travel were done right, and still one is only debatable, so I thinkg they should just never include this in the first place). Snake Miraculous is ok though, this way of time travel is ok. It's limited in such way, that it completely avoids the problem of potential logical errors, as it can just "erase" some part of time line which already happen but nothing else(this mechanic kinda reminds me of Return to the Past from Code Lyoko series, which works in similar manner but have wider reach - about 24h... there was a cost though, discovered later in the series), so there's no place to creating any contradictions (like self initializing time-loops or other situation when effect preeceed the cause) so it's fine, they should just stay with that.
snake miraculous is only 5 minutes when being used by a holder. Just the kwami can go back to any time the power was used. Which makes it basically the bunny miraculous. Timey-wimey-bsing things away is probably one reason why JK Rowling destroyed all the time turners in book 5 (ok, it was officially the plot hole power of it...but I like my term better XD)
When you talked about Mari’s artistic side and how they could’ve expressed it more, it remind me a lot of the character Shirin from the book A Very Large Expanse of Sea.
I think that MLB could be a really good psychological horror because it has the yandere elements which could be amplified and marinettes stalkerish behaviour. The story would change slightly but I think it would work really well because instead of having 2 ‘personalities’, she could have three. The obsessive side, the superpowered side and the normal girl.

I really do like his relationship with Adrien since he is one of the few characters who calls Adrien/Chat Noir out on his BS like in Copycat where he tells Adrien that it is his fault that this happened and encourages him to be more open and free.
I’ve just realised something while watching your video, when you were talking about how marinette’s behaviour influences the target audience. I started watching miraculous when I was 12, and at that time, I had never had a crush on *anyone* . *Ever* . And after watching Miraculous, just as I’ve moved into a new school and new country, I decided, ‘hey, that guy has blonde hair and looks similar to Adrien, he’s my new crush’ when I never had feelings or attraction to him at all, I kept following him around and tagging him during games, or sticking close to him while playing games and I only realised I never had a crush on him when my friend decided to tell him about my ‘crush’. After that I was horrified, like, I wouldn’t speak to her and I realised I never rlly liked him, I just always thought he looked similar to Adrien and had a similar personality to chat noir, being a mischievous and disruptive student. I hate the dude now, the most annoying kid ever, I don’t understand how I ever felt and thought the way I did. This influence of marinette’s behaviour is so toxic, and influences the shows target audience of young girls very easily, when I first voiced these opinions that the show is rlly bad to my sister she dismissed it and kept trying to defend it, but after watching she-ra she was like ‘oh my god, miraculous is so bad’😂

It's interesting how some of your points are actually addressed in later episodes. Spoiler warning now, but I will try to keep it vague and steer away from major plot points if I can. In later seasons, they very much do touch on the fact that Marinette is very stressed. They have some very big moments where they address the fact that she's under a lot of pressure being both a hero and a civilian and she can't tell others about this. In my opinion the episodes get better as the seasons progress and the later episodes are better done. The first season had a ridiculously short deadline time and was done hastily and lazily because of it, but as the seasons go on, they have bigger budgets and more time to write and show us the story of Miraculous ladybug. Watching Marinette grow is something that happens in the show. Could they do a better job of it? Absolutely! She's still an obsessed lunatic, and in many ways they should address that. But she definitely matures a bit more in later episodes and things become more centred around other things besides adrien. Unfortunately a big issue that I still have is that Adrien is a flat character. They just use him as comic relief or to move along Marinette's story line when he could very well have a lot more depth to him. Your point about the love interest was interesting as well, it reminds me a lot of how people were very adverse to Aoyama Masaya in Tokyo Mew Mew, but really enjoyed Kisshu, because Aoyama was the pretty boy love interest that was perfect in every way and Ichigo loved him so much it was sickening, but she was incredibly adverse to Kisshu despite him making several advances on her and practically assaulting her multiple times because he thought of her as his toy. In a similar way I think people look at Adrien and Chat Noir, where we have this perfect boy who everyone loves and the protagonist is obsessed with, then you have this playful boy with feline attributes who makes puns and playful remarks, always trying to woo the protagonist and never getting anywhere with his advances, to the point where he gets jealous or upset over it on several occassions. It's an interesting dynamic that in a way makes Chat Noir more likeable, but also makes Adrien unlikeable as a character and very boring and flat. I feel like they could do a lot more with him. Similar to Aoyama where they eventually had him become the Blue Knight, and later Deep Blue, there is a lot of Potential for Adrien to grow and become someone else, figuratively or literally.
I actually like Miraculous Ladybug because it's bad. It's the kind of show that frustrates fans so much that it make them want to step in and improve the story and the characters. I've shamelessly read a ton of fanfics that are sometimes better than the show. You can't make a garden flourish without fertilizer. Same concept here.
I agree. At this point, most of the people who watched Miraculous are basically like "Thanks for the interesting concept and fun characters, but the execution is trash so I'll do my own version of it." When a show is trashy, that is the best response that you can ask for. And I've seen some really amazing fan content, and they are the only reason why I still keep up with MLB. Because after the Chloe slander in Season 3, I dropped the show.
The show has so much potential, and these rewrites work so well to fix some of the many issues. After 3 seasons (Haven't watched the 4th season) there's only been a handful of significant changes. And the continuity is all over the place. When you look at *Spectacular Spider-man,* there were dramatic and serious moments, a clear overarching plot, and consistent sense of time progressing. After 3 season the environment is still in this springtime weather with one canon Christmas episode sprinkled in next to warm sunny days. Adrien is one of the biggest tragedies because they waste his character. They give him so much to work with and do nothing. The original character of Felix would have made more sense as a socially stunted cold rich kid who feels trapped in his own home and struggles to connect to people on an emotional level. Here, they make Adrien easily sociable, only make his rocky relationship with his father the background plot of a few episodes, and never delve deep into the fact that his father is Hawkmoth. Instead we watch Marinette be obsessed with him, make a drastic plan to spend time with him, and never follow through with telling him how she feels. And the one time the damage is permanent in the New York special (because both Marinette and Adrien were in New York while a sentimonster attacked), it doesn't have a lasting impact. Adrien briefly gives up being Chat Noir because he feels he failed Paris and Ladybug (especially after Ladybug berated him and said she couldn't trust him anymore), there's an apology, all is forgiven, and Paris just fixes the damage and has no problems with their two heroes being in New York at the time. And seriously, Marinette is the only one who can purify the Akuma's, and she has no problem going to New York because she'll just "go back there using the magic power-up from the ancient Kwami book that somehow gives them space suits". She was the one who left the city defenceless to go on a class trip *and* try to get closer to Adrien. I also hate that they make Chat Noir the most incompetent hero ever to make Ladybug look better. If he isn't getting mind controlled, he's becoming an obstacle because he's too busy flirting or just sucks at using his powers. He aways needs to be directed on what to do and is basically the weakest sidekick possible. Thomas Astruc may act like Ladybug and Chat Noir are "equals" and "partners", but Chat Noir is consistently written to be a sidekick who either struggles or makes things worse while Ladybug picks things up easily (outside of the origins episode).Even the official title of *"Miraculous tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir"* is shortened to *"Miraculous Ladybug"* because Chat Noir is such a non-character that he isn't consciously viewed as an actual main character. I haven't even watched the Shang Hai special because I was so disappointed at the start. We're given the backstory of a different character who is way more interesting than Marinette, then go back to Marinette and have her make the biggest stalker move ever. She finds out Adrien is going to Shang Hai on a family business trip, she wanted to tell him how she felt (or try to), so she uses the delivery of a birthday gift to her Uncle (who lives in Shang Hai) to go there. Instead of mailing it, she tells her parents that she thought it would be better to deliver it in person, as well as "connect to her Chinese roots" (which is a lie). Her parents are ecstatic about her wanting to learn more about her heritage, and reveal that they saved up money to go on a big family trip for when she wanted to go. But they only had enough saved for one person, so Marinette basically ruins this emotional family trip by lying about her motives to travel to Shang Hai, stalk Adrien through Social Media, and go after him while ditching her Uncle. It was at this point I just stopped watching because this was one of the lowest moves Marinette has ever made. This would be fine as something early in the show for her to develop and grow. But after 3 seasons of her getting worse as a character, becoming *more* selfish as time went on, I just called it quits. It's the most absurd reasoning to get her to Shang Hai, especially when these specials where she's crushing on Adrien came out after the season 3 finale, which had her decide to move on from Adrien and be with Luka as Adrien gets together with Kagami. The biggest flaw this show has is the lack of development over the course of 3 seasons. When I look at other shows, they manage to pull it off way better. *Adventure time* started off as a simple cartoon that later grew up with the initial audience to tell complex stories that isn't just fighting a monster of the week. *Spectacular Spider-man* showed the struggles of being a teenage superhero, balancing the human and superhuman sides of Peter's life (and had consequences. *Gravity Falls* can be enjoyed at all ages, it told simple stories with a complex overarching plot that wasn't afraid to be both weird *and* serious. There's plenty more issues to delve into, but I don't want to just be bashing on the show. It has cool and interesting concepts, it's just the execution that weakens it. The show is too afraid to allow the characters to grow. It has them at this baseline that allows for development, and then they occasionally have an episode dedicated to that development, but then they back out and disregard it for the sake of sticking to the status quo. They have stuck to this baseline of potential development for so long that it's just gotten stale and any development that actually sticks feels cheap and unearned. Which is a real shame. Especially since the original premise with the original 2-D animation looked so much more interesting (if it was difficult to animate Ladybug's polka-dots, then maybe they should have changed the character design to feature less polka-dots, it definitely would have been an improvement over the basic design she's had for so long).
*Me watching the first five minutes:* "Police, I'd like to report a killing spree!" Are you a content creator, or an assassin? Because holy hell, five minutes in and you've ruthlessly slaughtered six different targets!

I've only heard negative things about Marinette. Does she make the show almost unwatchable at times? (Havent seen the whole vid yet) Edit: Ouch that crush plot sounds really painful to watch since I am a fan of yandere but why would you even try to portray that as what a normal crush is and give that trait to your hero of all people
I personally like Marinette but believes she is in desperate need of character development. Like keep her the main character but fix her character please. Also if they aged up the characters would be better if you ask me.
For me? honestly, yes. Most(if not all) scenes with Marinette and Adrien in the same room together make me cringe so hard I have to skip those moments One of the biggest examples of these types of moments are in the ep Puppeteer 2 where Mari confesses her love to Adrien’s “statue”, steals his hair, and nearly kisses him
@@boomexplosivo That episode is really bad but she isn't that bad every episode. She has other characteristics besides crushing on Adrien. Her friendships with the other characters takes up a lot of her screen-time and also her role as ladybug. Also her family life.
I feel like Marinette should have been written like a “Tim Drake” character. If you don’t know (kind of spoilers), Tim was a kid who was pretty much neglected by his parents. After figuring out Nightwing’s (a superhero from Blüdhaven) identity, and by extension, Batman and Robin’s, he became obsessed with them. Stalking and taking pictures of them on patrol, etc. While it wasn’t nearly as bad as Marinette’s stalker tendencies, as he only ever did it when they were in costume, it’s obvious that his obsession is due to having no supervision or care from his parents. He latched on to their dynamics to distract himself from his own loneliness. It’s an actual character trait that’s addressed and he has to overcome it when he becomes Robin himself. TLDR; Marinette had a lot of wasted potential lol.
MLB... sure has problems... before i get into reasons why i tolerate the show, i must say im in love with ur redesign! ladybee is one of my fav ladybug suits along with pegabug and seeing the gold on her suit is just amazing. i also love how u made it resemble a cheongsam, one of the things i didnt like about marinette is that we rarely see her chinese side. (i havent seen the shanghai special so if she does more stuff with her chinese side there, i will admit im wrong.) overall, im in love with ur redesign! now heres why i tolerate this show and what i mean by that is, this is why i tolerate marinette lel. my fav episode was kung food where marinette's great uncle comes to visit because of a food related event. i forgot the specifics but i actually liked this episode cuz it's less of marinette drooling over adrien and she actually spends some quality time with him. there are other episodes where she isn't all over him but they are really rare. from what ive seen from the new york special, they have made marinette less obsessive, which is what i praise that special for, but i doubt they will keep it up. again, havent seen the shanghai special yet but i wanna, tho it will be a while. now onto the worst part in the show for me. they gave chloe development but in season 3, they ruined her to the point wheres shes just a mean girl and thats her whole personality. marinette couldve told her why she couldnt be queen bee unless something like the season 2 finale happens again but instead of that, ladybug and cat noir just give her a lot of maybes and it pisses me off. like, just give it to her straight and make sure she understands. they then in season 4 give the bee miraculous to someone whos only been in one episode before getting the miraculous, and its chloe's half sister like what? sigh, chloe got the short end of the stick. i loved the episodes that helped with her development in season 2 but they just killed her character with season 3.

The latest ep, derision, it was explained why she have a "stalker" attitude and how she develops crushes. Once someone showed genuine kindness towards her, she begins to like that person, hence kim, adrien, luka then chat noir. Her stalkerish attitude is due to the past trauma, when she doesnt know anything abt the guy she got hurt. so she swore to know anything and everything abt the person she'll like

i feel like even as a kid's show, there would be much more space and opportunities for a better story if the main characters were aged up a little-maybe in college, or in the least a year or two before graduating high school. I also feel like a better version of the love square thing is if ladybug was the one that liked chat noir instead of mari liking adrien. as u said, how can someone go from completely mistrusting someone to becoming head over heels for them in the SAME DAY. it would have definitely been much more interesting if adrien liked marinette first bcs of the fact that she doesn't only see his celebrity and actually dislikes him for his status, i feel like he'd be intrigued w that idk. also all of the characters' personalities are dry as crackers bro, chloe is the only interesting one of the whole cast.

i remember stopping watching miraculous back at the end of season 2, recently i turned on the tv and a new episode was airing, i was like "ok im down" the lack of character development made me incredibly shocked LIKE IT'S BEEN LITERAL YEARS WTH
marinette only liking the idea of adrien resonated w me so hard as someone who struggled for hears to accept myself as aromantic. id force myself to like people and even try to make myself blush because "thats a sign that you have a crush!!!" i think her slowly coming to learn of adrien's true nature and realizing she doesnt like him at all, then realizing she doesn't really like anyone would be amazing and would help her come to terms with who she truly is!
Literally eight year old me wasn't buying the show's bs and now being thirteen I just hate it even more because of how much potential it had. This show could've been fricking great if the creators cared to put any effort into it.
I would recommend episodes Chat blanc (S3) and Ephemeral (S4), it is kind of another universe episodes, where they learn each others identies and in the end its shown why Mari and Adrien shouldn't be together, so why to put them together in the first place? I'm not sure if you watched the other Cyrus the great videos on Miraculous, but I recommend those on Chloe. Chloe is potrayed in the show as the ultimate mean kid and the creators and writers are telling us through her, that once you are bad kid, you are forver bad kid, you cannot change, no redemption. She was actually getting some character development, but it was thrown in the trash by Thomas, becasue he hates her and he also took away from her her bee miraculous and introducet new character, who is Chloes half sister and is a definition of the "kind" girl with no personality whatsover. Just and idea, I would love to see your thougths on how Chloe was handled as a character and I think Cyrus the great discrabed it really well, and what you would may change. But just an idea. Thank you so much for this, it really felt cathartic and as you are a new fan (I've been with the show since the beginning) and even if you can see just from few episodes how bad it is, it says a lot about the show. To me, even though it wasn’t in the show, Tikki and Plagg fill parental roles. Tikki is more of a mentor, since Marinette already has loving, non-neglectful parents, and has no need to fill that void. She’s more of a teacher. Plagg on the other hand is incredibly protective of Adrian. He’s more relaxed when talking to the boy, but he gets more angry when the subject of Adrian’s father comes up. He resents Gabriel for neglecting his parental duties and not showing sufficient love to his son, and tries to fill the void Gabriel created in Adrian’s heart. He’s too busy giving Adrian emotional support to give him training. He might drop some history here and there but Adrian has to initiate training for Plagg to actually participate. Also, I simply CANNOT imagine them in Kwami form. Those are not ancient gods, those are fairies. I always picture them in my head as human, but there’s something not quite right about them. Tikki is tall, and slender with hair as red as a lady bug, but her eyes aren’t human, her irises almost seem to droop out of place, and they shine even in broad daylight. Plagg is tall as well, but more muscular and his skin is darker, but his head is that of a cat’s, or at least that what it seems to be. You cannot discern his features, they blend between a man and a beast, confusingly so. You can’t keep your eyes on him for too long or you’ll start getting dizzy from trying to figure out whether he’s human or not.
I really like your redesign! I grew up with this show, so I didn't see a lot of those holes in it. But I like to destroy my childhood memories, it adds a bit of flavour to them. But really, thanks for pointing out some things that are not that apparent or that we, as young and invested children, missed.
I loved your redesign of ladybug's outfit! It always bothered me how the most powerful miraculous whose holder is apparently a aspiring fashion designer had like the blandest outfit on the show... Season three and four are a absolute train wreck *but* I would recommend to watch just for the sheer disaster they are and about the show idea you mentioned at end about a depressed 20 yera old having to save the day, filled with dark humor...I would kill to watch it ( but well executed not something with just a wasted potential like miraculous...please god no ) Soo yes I will be looking forward to your Adrien video cause the potential the agreste ( I know i spelled that wrong don't come at me ) family is sooo much like we could just have had Adrien as the main protagonist trying to figure out what happened to his mom and what's currently happening to his dad.
The problem of Miraculus is that it has so much potential, but it goes wasted (see the third season) If you want to go on be warned that, the you have to stop at the third season BELIVE ME Edit, here things that go wrong CHLOE Chloe was presented as a bully, but slowly they started to gavr her a introspection and a reason for her behaviur Then the fire nation attacked I was Joking, but then the writers made Chloe fall and erased all her devolpment (a very good one) and so we had again our frist season bully. Lila Lila is this young girl who hates Marinette, she is a liar and a sociopatic (maybe also a narcissist?) she is clearly a better villain that Hawkmoth, but she isn't used. I like that the problem of Marinette only liking the idea of Adrien is addressed on an actual episode were she's ordered to find out who Chat is for safety reasons and when he reveals he's Adrien she laughs on his face and says there's no way he could be, then after he takes off the costume to prove it Marinette has a whole mental conflict were she sees Adrien as Chat and even wonders if she still loves Adrien knowing they're the same person. The bad part is that is another "rewind" episode were everyone forgets about it and it has 0 relevance for the plot

I kinda wanna rewrite her too 😭 I’d emphasize her anger issues, she’s shown to let her anger dictate her decisions wayyyy too much. And then kinda center the show on her trying to work on it.

You did a perfect job of rewriting her character 👏👏👏, Marinette is one of my favourite protagonists with lots of potential in my opinion but the show doesn't really take the correct path. They did it at the start of Season 4 where we see she actually has a mental breakdown due to all her responsibilities and condemned to lie to her friends and family which made her more realistic but ofcz this was stopped and we once again go back to the stalker crap. Honestly she looks like a normal person when she isn't obsessed with Adrien, like in the NYC special. This is probably why I prefer the anime pilot version bcz not only that Marinette isn't a stalker but "Adrien"'s character becomes more relevant as well. He isn't really explored in the show and I don't really find him interesting other than his backstory but in the anime, we could see a character development. Adrien was the perfect son but when no one's there, he's actually dull, bored and gloomy bcz of the expectations and his mother wasn't there anymore. But he hides this infront of his father. But when he meets Ladybug, he realizes that there's more to his life and he feels free with her so he basically develops into the Adrien in the show. Plus exploring Marinette's Chinese heritage is really interesting. I think that she's a descendant of the Chinese guardians which explains lot of her abilities.
The only time Marinette was EVER called out for her stalker behaviour was when she was showing Adrien's routine to the other girls, and Alix calls her creepy. I was about to praise the show when I first saw it until SECONDS later when Rose said: "Yeah.. It's SO romantic.." And Alix didn't respond at all, and NEVER expressed any issue with Marinette's behaviour after that SINGULAR comment. It was essentially Astruc's way of telling the fans to shut up and just go with it

Please! Please, fix Mr. Nice guy himself Adrien next. Your break down of Marinette/Ladybug is amazing and I’d love to see your take on Chat’s nice guy behavior, Adrien’s enabling of bad behavior and willful ignorance, and Plagg’s irresponsibility being an awful pair with those traits.
11:47 ouch the Gamer episode... There are several things wrong with the episode, but the two main things that are wrong are (I'm not saying Marinette is in the right here) 1. If you rewatch the episode and pay attention to Max's glasses while he battles Adrien and Marinette you will see there is code running over his glasses showing Max did not train a year, but spend a year devising the best cheat code. It also explains why he says it's impossible that he lost. He was cheating and still lost twice. 2. They are very sexist in this episode as Marinette can't possibly be good at the game as she is a girl. I do agree with you that Alya is gaslighting Marinette into obsessing over Adrien. At the start it is usually Alya that pushes Marinette to pursue Adrien. Interesting final suit. I agree it suits her. Though I still find it strange that both bee and ladybug don't have wings.
I love this a lot! Very insightful and stuff, and that's coming from someone who used to watch Miraculous a lot. The only constructive criticism I have is about the way that her suit has the fold. I'm pretty sure it's on the wrong side. Chinese clothing has the left side folding over the right and the opposite is for dead people I'm pretty sure.
LADY BIRD'S FULL COSTUME IS SO GORGEOUS! Yeah the Stalker side of Marinetta never gets address. I mean stalking Is a pretty bad thing and isn't cute.....I use to watch and thought it was alright but the obsession with Adrien was starting to get to me, honestly I wish I could watch and not be disappointed. You idea of MLB sounds so good. I've been bringe watching these Redesign (because I am sucker for it lol). God if only we had your version...it would be a dream come true ❤️
i will say the latest season has shown off her more creative side bc she has used that to create and build things to help balance her life as ladybug and herself. there is some growth as marinette (not as much as we’d hope) as well as this growing tension between lady and chat, due to him feeling that she has lost trust in him (due to the events in “chat blanc”) so honestly i prefer some elements of the later seasons than the first, so i’d definitely give it a watch!

Edit: oh my gosh! Your redesign of Marinette as Ladybug is so good! Leagues better than the basic design from the show. The Tokyo Mew Mew comparison was so on point, and I am just the same. TMM was one of my favorite shows as soon as I figured out what anime was and I had hopes for Ladybug because it had similar tropes but oh god I got bored so fast. They're....13?? Oh my god. How did I miss that? I thought they were 15-16! Oh boy that makes Marinette seem so much more understandable.
