***UPDATE** I've added style to this wagon --
• Leaving Tools in Vinegar
I modified my first wagon a little over a month ago and it didn't last 24 hours in my possession before being traded for two parts wagons. In this video I disassemble the two wagons that I received in trade.
I tried to use as many of the original parts as possible. The wheels were salvaged from a discarded baby buggy/carriage/stroller. The steering head was narrowed to reduce the length of the wheelbase; the scroll was used to raise the height of the axle bolts. One castor was used on the underside of the steering head. The stiff steering mount was made from 1"x1/8" flat bar. Two pieces of 3/16" flat bar was used for the sacrificial scrape material. The original handle was extended using two valve springs. Axle bolts are 3/8". The guts of a $1 LED book light, was used for the running light; the housing was an old bike light of some kind that I found on one my yard sale adventures. The motorcycle license plate was also found treasure hunting. The "crystal" ball is a mystery item.
The top of the finished wagon deck sits just as tall as a standard aluminum can. Ride height was set to 3/8", after adding the 3/16" flat bar to keep from scraping through the wagon deck -- we are just hovering above the ground. Perfect height for scraping over driveways and speedbumps.
This was one of my favorite projects so far. I learned a lot and I hope it has given you ideas for your custom wagon build

Why don't you make a frame for them instead of ruining the tubs
@handbuiltbob
@handbuiltbob 5 лет назад
Tyler Grau 2 reasons, weight and amount of extra material. Also, the way you suggest, the frame would then be the lowest part of the wagon and not the tub itself. My objective is to be the lowest. Ruining is subjective, the tubs aren’t in the greatest condition to start out with but everyone has their own opinion and I’m no wagon purist by any means. Do you build frames for yours?

@@handbuiltbob yes I do and they turn out quite well I use all the original holes that's already in the tub I use one by one square tube
@handbuiltbob
@handbuiltbob 5 лет назад
Tyler Grau yah 1” square tube is pretty typical, I’ve seen a lot of wagons done that way. For me though, I want my wagons as low as possible with as short a wheelbase as I can get away with. If you see in my other videos I add side rails, trailer hitches, etc. for accessories and aesthetic details. Some might consider the tubs ruined but we’ve all got our own way of doing things, this is just the way I go about it. I appreciate you watching the video and would love to see your work.

Seems impractical

I slam them and roll them down hills, ride height is preference not practicality
