My interpretation of this video is that - we keep running from our fears, only to realize we were overreacting in the first place, and confronting our fears can actually open up new paths for us, even the path of love as the video shows how he becomes friendly with everyone later on in the song.

This song saved my life once. I was literally almost crashed by a train that morning after I realised my only friend at that moment wasn't my friend at all and I wanted to die for the longest time cause I didn't have any support during my depression. So I came back home heard this song and I got inspired in learning how to play the guitar, and I learned it that night. All that happened in a day but it wouldn't have changed that drastically if it wasn't that I heard the phrase "I don't wanna see you cry. You don't have to feel this emptiness". I think music can be a greater friend than most people sometimes.
