Thanks so much for sharing this, I have a 2017 RAV4 and am about to do a front & rear cam. I also live in the Valley and recognized the area during your driving tests! It's finally cooling off and we were under 100F today, haha.
Hello, thank you very much for your comment! I really apreciate it when folks take the time to say something nice on my videos, makes me feel good about them haha. Thank you for watching!
Great video thanks, Does the g-sensor work like park mode, if you have a constant power flow. Will it start recording if there is an impact when you are parked?
This would be even better if it had a plug-in to attach a rear camera for the rear window. One very weak point on all of the dash cams is the thin plastic mounts. I’ve accidentally broken two rendering them useless, though they both had wires going through the mount.
Good review. what's the drain on car battery in parking mode? Also, In the event the sensor is triggered, (impact or motion), do both cameras activate, or just the front facing?
Hello, thank you for the comment! I appreciate it! This camera doesnt have a parking mode but you could make it stay on by wiring to a "Hot" fuse that is on while vehicle is off. I did that with my 4runner. the battery will drain though if the vehicle is not ran for 2-3 days. There is no impact or motion sensor to get it to start recording on this model. It has a g sensor that will lock the video in from being deleted if it detects an impact though. These features are available on the V1 which I have done a video on as well and you can see it here: theroninchronicle.com/dash-cam-install/ that one was my very first video ever haha
What do you press or what is the procedure to rotate the front cabin camera picture on the screen. I bought one and set it up but the image of driver shows upside down. Appreciate and help
Hello, thank you very much! You actually dont need to ever take out the sim card unles you want to get the video off of the sim card. Like if you are in an accident or see something of interest. Otherwise, no need to remove it.
Its really good, should have included a little more of that but you can hear it at the 12:57 mark in the video, when I got my pizza haha. I think is sounds very good. Thank you!
I believe you are crossing the deployment path of the driver side curtain airbag in the 4th generation RAV4. You may need to remove the trim panel and make sure you are running the wire anterior to the airbag. The driver head needs all the help it can get in the gen 4 RAV4 in the driver small front overlap test. www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/toyota/rav4-4-door-suv/2014 Great info on the wiring
I'm using the same spytec hardware kit with 10 feet cable but I don't have enough slack to place my camera in the same spot as you. Otherwise the black box a the end of the cable won't have enough slack to go under the dashboard.
hello, the suction cup i had was inside the box. Did you not get one in yours? if not, you should contact rexingusa and ask if they can send you one. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
Great video and instruction! So I have the Rexing V2 and I'm down to connecting to the fuse box under the hood since my car doesn't have an inside fuse panel. Can I use any 15 amp fuse as you did with my add a circuit or does it really matter? I've got my ground done, just need to make the right connection on pwr for a 2016 camaro.
Hello, thank you very much for the compliment. You can use any fuse, it doesnt even have to be a 15amp. It as long as you use the same as whatever you pull. You can use a 10amp slot as long as you use that 10amp in the add a fuse for example. You just want to make sure that you choose a slot that isnt "hot" meaning that it is on, even if the car is not on. For instance, the power seats, those are always on, even when the car isnt. IChose the power outlet because I wanted the camera to turn off and on with the ignition. If you choose a "hot" slot, then the camera will stay on if the car is turned off. I actually have it that way on my 4runner, because the V1p, is meant to be used that way. The V2 isnt meant for that but can be used that way as well. I actually did that method with the V1 in my very first youtube video, two years ago, you can see it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nqohxc9ZCsI.html Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
Found a guide for my car and I'm going to tap into the sunroof since it's only powered up when the car starts up. I do have yet another question. Do these units have to start recording when powered up? I suppose it's okay, but my mind says it recording useless stuff. LOL Guess it's better to have it on than not to and wishing it had been turned on before an incident occured. Anyway, I got the mini add a circuit today and plan to plug the cam plug into it and the fuse I pull into the other port and then plug it all into the sunroof F45 location. Again, the video you did is excellent, informative, no BS stuff as many I've seen have, making excuses on voice, hair or other things that are irrelevant to the subject matter, and then those trying to be comedic as well. Thanks for just keeping it real!
Thanks man, I really appreciate that! Yes the camera automatically starts recording when powered on, but you can turn it of with the button on the low left side marked "rec". and then just press it again when you want to record. but like you said, you may miss something important by not having it recoding prior to an incident. Whats good though is that the useless footage will just get recorded over by new footage as it loops. So you wont have to worry about the useless footage at all. if there is ever footage you want to keep you can press the lock button on the top right corner( the button that says "ok"), then that clip will not be recorded over during the loop. thanks for watching man, I'm glad you found a guide specific to your vehicle!
good catch haha. I dont think it matters much though because I have used the ultra in my other rexing cam for over 2 years with no issues. They only say not to use it because its not high endurance, not because its incompatible. The ultras work perfectly. I think they recommend the high endurance to avoid customers having any issues with being in a hot car and facing higher than average temperatures or something of that nature. I have never had any issues being in Arizona, but yes it is a good point that they listed that and I appreciate your comment, thank you. I will add that in the description for sure. here is the High endurance card amzn.to/2LPNv78
I have a different dash cam though and I came for the RAv4 installation. I own a 2015 and is it safe to use the orange tool that you're using to tuck the wire without triggering the airbag at the sides?
Yes it is perfectly fine, just be gentle and dont go too deep. I have done the same thing twice before on two other 4runners as well. no issues even 2 years later.
Oh thanks! I actually got a blackvue and the 2 channel means I have to wire one all the way to the back. I'll just check other videos but this one really helped
I used your video to install my dash cam. Used the same fuse plug. No issues, it works fine. Check my channel. Got a dash cam video posted from last night where these psycho drunks attacked me. @@TheRoninChronicle
good review, but i cant seem to locate the PIP, its not showing up in the camera or the videos when i play back on my pc..... thanks for any help , novice here
Hey there, make sure that the resolution is set to 1920x1080p +1920x1080p in order to record in Dual Channel mode. if you select the higher resolutions or ultra HD mode, it is only single channel recording. Also you can try to press the screen select button witch is the top left button to toggle between the screen modes. hope this helps, thank you!
Hi I’m so excited for you answer me but i have problems with this. Because it can’t record pictures in pictures. It recorded in front or in the back but not pictures in pictures like this . Could you held me one more time. Thanks brother.

hello, definitely check the crimping, that would be a good start. Make sure your fuses arent blown and are in the right place. Are you using the same fuse slot that I used?
Could you please tell how to turn on the rear camera. I click the button on the camera like the manual tells me, however, it does not change the screen to rear or PIP. Could you help me with this.

mathet max hello, the backfacing camera is for the interior of the car. It doesn’t completely show the rear of the vehicle, but depending on how its placed, it could possible see out of your rear window. Thank you for watching!

Hello, the unit automatically starts recording when turned on. there is a flashing red circle in the top corner of the screen that indicates that it is recording as well. it pretty much is always recording when turned on. there is a button on the low left side that says "rec" if you wish to toggle it on or off. hope this helps for you. Thanks for watching!
