I was just looking at their website today! So glad you posted a video to give me an idea of what to expect as I was going back and forth on which company to do a tour. My cousins and I will be there in May and we are all foodies! I'm so grateful for your vlogs!

I've just come back to Poland from a short city break in Reykjavik and wow, it's nice to see a few places I've been to during the last few days. We may even have passed each other today in the street, who knows? BTW, vanilla skyr rules!

probably, it's such a small place!! And yes, Vanilla Skyr rules!!

I went to the restaurant attached to Ostá Bú∂in and it was truly incredible. Also went to Loki which was hearty and good, and the hot dogs which are basically the best in the world.

It all looks so yummy. I'm quite partial to the pear flavoured skyr.

Positive that I am stopping at Cafe Loki for that ice cream on my next trip to Iceland in September. It looks yummy. The lamb stew was my favorite thing I ate in Iceland. The hot dogs were pretty good as well and will be sure to have more of them :) I so love that new painting of the mountains / fist of Thor haha have to find that one. OMG Icelandic Horse??? really??? :( not the cute fluffy horses!!!!
@IcelandFamilyLife
@IcelandFamilyLife 7 лет назад
I will meet up with you and show you Thor, haha!! And, yes...horse, maybe I won't tell you how surprisingly yummy it was, shhhh (it's actually what most families in Iceland used to eat as it was actually the cheapest meat to buy here)

Cool that would be awesome!!! I am in Reykjavik for about a day though if that :( I am trying to be out in the countryside most of the time photographing the Westfjords and my favorite places on the South Coast. I have actually tried horse when I was in China and yeah it is actually pretty tasty but Icelandic horses are so cute and fluffy. I will just imagine it is the old horses they do this too hahaha.

I took pics of some of the street art that I found (gatchabert on IG). I love how it is more accepted in other countries. As for food. We went to the Noodle House which I thought was nice and tasty but my sister didn't care for it (cause we're spoiled living in San Francisco where places like Noodle House are plentiful). The Sandholt is a nice bakery. We went there a couple of times during the week we were there. Needless to say that we loved this place. SmakkBarinn was also a delicious place. You order 4-8 small portion bites, sort of like a tapas place. I saw Loki but didn't go. I wish I had known about the ice cream. The hotdog is interesting. It is a mix of meats (I think beef and lamb) so it is not like the old American hotdog which is usually all beef. I don't eat a lot of lamb but I did enjoy the hotdog. I also had whale. I don't remember the name of the place but for steaks, I had a choice of beef, horse or whale. I thought, I can find horse here in America but I won't be able to find whale so, that is what I got. If I wasn't told it was whale, I would have thought I was eating beef, a very lean beef, with a nice pepper sauce.

haha, I completely agree on your last bit about if you weren't told it wasn't beef as that's what I thought...it's so much yummier but not for everyone (for obvious reasons). Also, I had never tried horse before and it was delicious. I love the hot dogs but try to limit them. The lamb here is amazing, so yummy and I can't wait for warmer weather and brighter days so we can enjoy a balcony BBQ. Thanks for the comment and sharing where you ate.

I was in REYKJAVIK. Iceland recently and i went to check this place.prices are insane!!!. This little lamp soup in the small bowel will cost you 32 u.s $. And it won't even full your stomach. It's not include the bread. Two slice of bread will cost you an additional 6 u.s $. Will you still wanna go there??
@IcelandFamilyLife

oh gosh, that's crazy and I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience. A lot of places offer free refill and extra bread now which is really good - I guess they need to catch on!!

Islands often have large shipping costs for imported items. High taxes and paying all workers a living wage makes everything expensive. Even a good income is still limited, so high costs force people to think first then be selective about when and how money is spent.
