When i did my first DD playthrough i made sure to keep Reynauld and Dismas alive as much as i could and i was so sad when i lost him in the dungeon. I could not tell you how happy i was when i got the graveyard revival event.
I think the old ending slide still works. Because now, with the helmet on the pedestal, I believe it now implies that the "Crusader" is no more. All that leaves now is Reynauld the farmer, free from the crusade that mislead him from the light of his life: his family.
This point they both killed two eldtrich gods, theyre.more than brothers in arms, there brothers in blood bounded in this never ending journey to rid the world of the eldritch monsters and horrors that await them...of the darkest dungeon
Maybe they plan to add more heroes in the future, and don't want to remake the cinematic each time. After they are done adding heroes, they might remake it - just one time.

I doubt it, most pf the military would go insane from this creature. Dismas is really not that normal of a guy atleast when facing the final boss. He face so many eldrich abominations he's abel to actually fight them and not *instantly" go insane

what an underwhelming concept for a final boss. sure its a visual spectacle, but carries nary a sliver of the weight that fighting the literal heart of the world did.
It's a darkest dungeon dlc they're always worth it. Plus, they could've just removed the flagellant instead of making him a base game character but they didn't
