I was so happy to get this ship cheap about 6 months ago or so. It went under the radar for so long. It literally has every weapon imaginable minus autocannons, which aren't even needed these days with the OSK-35 air defense system being introduced to the game. Was really surprised people slept on this ship for as long as they did, and now it's over 1k AC (bought mine for around 300 AC)
You didn't need to if you got it thru BP or bought it when it was ~300AC. People slept on it for way too long. Same with the Type 055A. They see the free one and think it's anywhere near as capable as the AC one, so they don't get it while it was cheap or available in a BP, only to find the price go up 300-400% in half a year like what happened with the Anchar.
Also, the Type 055A (Art Coins) is about twice as powerful as the free Type 055 Nanchang. The air defense missile in the locked slot while still having another 4x & 2x open, is worth it alone. Taking a PKX-B in the grenade slot to bait flares, and then an ATMACA in the 2x slot, SCALP in the 1x slot, allows you to punish enemies, you have torps, and your air defense is stellar, having a locked air defense missile in a slot while also having a 4x and 2x slot open for more air defense. Popping an OSU-35K in the 4x spot allows you to massively boost your DPM to both air and surface targets. Bring along a Grapun for more missiles and more DPS against surface targets, or one of the laser systems or the Type 2030 in the 2x slot if you want to further boost your air defense capabilities. It's one of the best all rounder ships in the game, while the regular Type 55 is just a meh since you are stuck playing around your 3x grenade launchers which is your only positive attribute. You get a 4x and 2x air defense slot but don't also have the third locked air defense missile slot of the Type 55A, you have only a 2x missile slot, and still have only one gun, and below average HP. So comparing the two is unfair due to the Type 55 being at such a disadvantage when compared to the Type 55A.
