Have a look at voltage divider using resistors. You can split the 12v, if memory serves, using two of the same resistors in series, you get half the voltage or 6v between r1 and r2, so, yes! I just dont remember if you need any specific value for the resistors. Check out "voltage divider". Edit: 2 years ago, lol. My bad. Hope you found your answer!
