This is the final product of the RFTB movie. It took over 35 interviews, 1,000 interview questions, 16 games, 100 GB of data, and hours upon hours of editing. Thank you to all who have supported me in the process of making this.
This just shows what high school (apart from studies) should be all about, spirit, friendship, support, a family. It just makes me sad that european schools, in my case portuguese high schools don't get to experience that. I'm a sophomore and I would give anything to have this kind of experience, anything.
I'm a huge fan of high school football , here in Deep South Texas , or the Rio Grande Valley , and I speak for all of us when we say that this is team more than just a team , it's a family . A family with a unique bond and great chemistry on and off the field ; a team with a great staff and will continue to excel as a school, team, and family . Great Video !
Allen High has great athletes no doubt but it's always heartwarming to see that the entire community is coming together as one to support the school and its program ... wow what a morale boost!
This made me tear up! I graduated back in 2012 and since I have left AHS to attend UNT I have not felt the same sense of security and closeness. I may not have gotten my letter jacket in band, or any part of the escadrille but I wear it with pride even in 100+ weather. We might not know all of the people we graduate with but once you leave AHS you leave a family behind. Would trade UNT for Allen anyday! Love my Boys in Blue!
From 2021 here kyler wins Heisman then moves on to be Starting Quarterback for AZ Cardinals and wins rookie of the year. But I still wish he was with us.
Very Nice Job! Your not going to be able to please everyone with one Video. For anyone that lives in Allen or has invested in their kids who go to Allen and attended football games, it is very evident that its not just about the football team. It is a community effort. The sport of football makes it possible. We have been extremely fortunate these last few years to really experience the "total Allen Package" come together..... Students, Parents, Families, hundreds who perform or serve during games and the Allen Community. Thanks Eagles!
+Taylor Crockett you probably don't care but my team South London Renegades made the semis of the britbowl with 28 player squad. (We wear a Skyline kit from around 20 years ago)
Very disappointed. This video is not about Allen High School as the title implies. It's about the 2014 football team 2014. The high school is more than just football. Our football program is great for bringing our community together, but the title puts Allen in a bad light to those who value more than football. AHS has A LOT to offer and the video doesn't even mention 80% of them. Be more specific in your title and I'll change my "thumbs down." (It's not too late.)
I understand you're unhappy with the title but if you look closer the title begins with "RFTB" which is the football team's motto. We tried our best to highlight cheer, escadrille, student section and several other groups. I agree there are A LOT of organizations at Allen HS but the point of the movie was to highlight the school and the community backing our Boys in Blue. Hence the RFTB. But I appreciate the feedback, thank you for watching. :)
Allen Band Fan I'm just stating the obvious in saying that Allen High School has coverage and a spotlight because it has a great (nationally recognized) football team. If you want to get picky, it's because of the young man wearing the #1 jersey that Allen has those three (3) state championships. You owe a ton to him! I would rather have seen more about him and his family and his mindset for leading the team than all of the "we are a family" stuff. If y'all had the exact same set-up and your school was L.D. Bell, no one would give a damn. Just speaking honest! Kyler Murray brought the spotlight to Allen (and, yes, I know they won a title in 2008 w/o him), the same as Manziel did at A&M.
I'm sure that a lot of effort was put into this but it was poorly produced. EVERY interview was conducted with the kid sitting in the same chair in the same office overlooking the lobby. Hello? Change it up! And why no investigation about the $60 million dollar stadium that can't be played in? Could any of that money been used to educate students or to buy computers or Ipads for kids to learn with? If given the choice Texas schools would choose football over education.
Looking back on this it isn't the greatest thing I made... but I was 17, and I sure as hell am proud of it still. The point of the video was to follow a sports team's troubles and triumphs NOT stir controversy with the school district. Obviously not a whole lot of attention was paid or else you would've realized that. I usually don't respond to comments such as these but seeing as I was just a high school kid at the time that this video was created I would like say that it is appalling that you recognize the fact that we put a lot into this documentary and immediately diminished it by calling it "poorly produced." Regardless, thank you for viewing what we made, it is still always appreciated.

The kid used school resources, scheduled all the interviews, coordinated with the team, filmed it, edited the video, and did a heck of good job for a school documentary. He was 17!! At 17 you use what you can get your hands on. Who cares where the interviews took place. Is that really your best gripe against the film? Because I'm sure he did this during school and right after school, where the most convenient place to interview would be...wait for it...AT THE SCHOOL. Furthermore, jackass, the documentary was about the football team's journey thru the season. The stadium issue was just part of it. It was not a documentary on the stadium. I think it's it quite impressive he didn't let that become the whole story. He wanted to tell the story of the team, not misused tax revenue. I mean, really, man? Get a grip. I bet he makes some pretty awesome videos these days. I know my first video wasn't as good as my second and third and so on... And just for the record, I live in Washington State, and have no ties to this school. So I'm only defending the kid because I thought he showed great organizational skills and great effort in making this. It's a lot of hours gathering film and editing that goes in to a short 1 minute video, let alone a documentary. Have some class, man. Wow
OMG, IT WASN'T ABOUT THE STADIUM, DUDE!!! Do you understand that? Or are you so single-minded you can only think about one thing in your head? The story was about the football team and their journey. Can you comprehend that? My Lord. Jack Thomas:"It's poorly produced because I wanted him to stick with talking about the sinkin' stadium issue the whole time because I couldn't grasp that the story was about a team's journey thru the season. Once he mentioned the stadium, all I could think about was the stadium. I got pissed because all I could think about was the damn stadium. And he never told me what happened to the stadium. Soooo, anyone know what happened with the stadium? I am not resourceful enough to go online and look it up for myself. So I'll criticize this kid 'til someone who isn't as lazy as me tells me what happened to that stadium deal". 17 year old kid: "Uhhh the story was not about the stadium. Oh and uhh, if you watched the movie, you'd know the story I was trying to tell, was NOT about the stadium. Oh yea, it's called The Allen High School Story. Not the Stadium Needs Repairs Story". Hey Jack, IT'S NOT ABOUT THE STADIUM!!! Get it yet??!! Probably not, huh.
