@@PoopMiumiu-rt2yj Man, in hotd we watch things like "my uncle is my lover", "my sister is my wife". What does "my stepmother is my lover" matter? Irrelevant.
This is amazing and encapsulates how I feel about Alicent as a person and her actions as well as her relationship with Rhaenyra. At the end of the day Rhaenyra understood why Alicent did all that she did and loved her through it because despite the bad things she did she was a product of the powerful men around her and the intense circumstances she was in. I don't blame her for her actions and I'm glad this scene happened to show that Rhaenyra understands that too
I think it makes perfect sense. Alicent knows her side is beaten and that her son Aemomd is a psycho who would rather burn the world than settle. Alicent is trying to keep her daughter and grandchildren alive. She knows Aegon is broken and will eventually be murdered by Aemond anyway, and that a victorious Aemond will probably kill her, Halaena and Halaena's children eventually. Better to let Aegon go and save the others.
