This boat is powered with a serial hybrid system from ReGen Nautic. It was a big hit at French Boat shows .Below is a video from the French 'Moteur Boat' magazine, one good enough to watch full screen in HD.

if elec. motors are % 80 eff. @ 290 kW, batteries will be discharged 6 - 6.5 minutes. and you need diesel generator. approximately boat cruise economical speed (10-12 knot), propellers will need 30-35 kw. so batteries will serve 1 hour. electric propulsion is reasonable @ low speed.

correct depending on boat and environmental conditions.

Define the unit kW/h

1kw/h is 1000 watts of energy consumed or produced per hour. So if you have a 1000w electric motor, it would consume 1kw/h. If your trying to figure out range on a battery here is a simple formula (these are estimates because environmental conditions will reduce efficiency). Lets say you have a 48v dc motor. It consumes 1kw per hour. 1000w divided by 48v equals 20.83 amps. So with 48v battery pack it would consume at a rate of 20.83 amps per hour. If you have a 208.3ah (useable) battery pack. You could in theory have propulsion for 10 hours without a recharge. However, you will actually have less time because of efficiency loss from heat and drag from wind and the water. I hope that answers your question.

That is partially true (the last part) but there still is no unit kw/h. It cannot be 1000 watts of energy consumed per hour because the unit W does not define energy. You simply omitted one letter "h" in your explanation. A 1000W motor uses 1kWh/h which is 1 kW obviously. Power (P) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_(physics) is measured in W(att) and defined as the the amount of energy (E) measured in J(oule) divided by the time (t) measured in s(econds) that was needed to generate that power. Since 1J is defined as 1Ws you can also say that a 1W motor uses or produces 1Ws/s which obviously is 1W. It always baffles me that these easy relationships between SI-units are completely unheard of although they are taught to... about 13 year old kids in school. I don't remember exactly because for me that is 25 years in the past. How can someone buy a car or a even a lightbulb without understanding these things? Again: Power (Motor) in this case kW, Energy (Battery) kwh and kW/h for nothing. It is simply wrong. What is 1 J/s/s?? If a battery could have 10 kW/h that would mean it had 36000000 J/s/s or Joule per second squared. Can you explain what that would be?? It has 36000000 Joule. Period.
