@@joshv3202 it really depends on what you define as "real". Because it is real to the individual who let's it be, to those who refuse it, it isn't. What it's really about is placebo, and the thing about placebo is, it only works if the person believes it will work.

*Conclusion:* 1. Link was actually under hypnosis (had no memory of the session) but it only sort-of worked. 2. Rhett still hates cats and he was probably killed by a pack of rabid felines in his last life.

That's because he wasn't really hypnotized. It might have been more succesful with a little bit more time and with easier subject (living animals in the space, as Rhett said, really didn't help), but as you can see it didn't go well.

@@azhurelpigeon You know that the government also used a lot of psychics. They only stopped in the 80s after a big scientific study disproved them. So that's not a good argument. I agree there's something to hypnosis, but in my opinion it's very similar to placebos. You could've said to Link, for example, "Hey, this is a new medicine invented by the best scientists for people to love tomatoes" and give him a sugar pill. It probably would had better chance to work.

If you for some internal reasons do not want to be hypnotised or you are not 100% willing to change or do not trust the hypnotizer just a little bit, it will not work

It's not about the goal it's about entering the state of hypnosis, which is a place right above sleep, with minor brain function still there but almost asleep.. the hypnotherapist needs to be good at getting people to slip into that half-sleep state. It's achieved by the tempo and flow of their words. I went to a group hypnosis three times and only one girl was able to hypnotise me, it was unbelievable

Link, because you don’t remember being hypnotized means you are able to go into deep hypnosis. Not many can. There’s 3 levels and you went to the deepest so fast!

@Genta I've heard that it's not about being gullible, but rather being able to focus into a feeling of security and relaxation. Everyone's subconscious is extremely impressionable once their brain's waves have slowed enough through relaxation and a feeling of safety.

I once watched a hypnotist talk about it, and he said a lot of things those preacher do are exactly that, and they basically hypnotize everyone, since they are all believers in God and all that, they are very suscetible to it, even if the preacher doesn't even know that he is actually hypnotizing people

The problem with rhett is that he's never owned a cat, and cats only fully trust their owners. Unless they were once feral, that takes more work. Cats aren't going to be affectionate with everyone, because they have the characteristic of being independent as soon as they stop weaning. The best place for rhett to go is to a shelter, cats there are used to seeing different people everyday and all they want is affection. Plus if he sees cats randomly outisde that's a complete loss cause, I'm a feral domesticator and it takes a lot of hard work and patience to ever gain trust from a feral, since they've spent all their life fending for themselves. BUT I do currently have a siamese stray that is extremely friendly, it's odd, I'm getting him checked for a chip soon, but this cat would be purrfect for rhett. /ok I'm done, no one cares

To answer the question of having you remember the answer is yes. Somebody quizzed me on what happened to me during the show and I couldn't remember. So I asked the hypnotist and he asked if I wanted to remember, I said yes, he ran through the opening exercises again, he told me that I'd remember but that i wouldn't be embarrassed. Lo and behold I remembered.

I always look forward to LTAT on my Saturday morning but this week I truly was excited to see what would happen with Rhett and the cats. And if there are folks who are watching this but have not experienced the glory that was The Mythical Show please go do yourself some good and watch! If only for the opening sequences. I kinda knew this would happen. Rhett is more skeptic than Link and for that less suitable for hypnose and also they should have done it with liver cause this doesnt seem like a real experiment for Rhett. And Rhett, come on man! a cat is a living stuffed animal how can you not like them. To cats you are a giant, Glenn Rottmann should have hypnotized that cat for not being affraid of you ;)

I used to hate cats until I rescued my baby boy last year. He's the sweetest thing in the world and has such a funny personality. Just got diagnosed with asthma a few months ago, but he's still so sweet. Even meows at me and my fiance when we get home and plops over so we'll pet him. Lol.
