Hi, im from belgium, 44 year, i got thursday anca + , after years of syptomes and pain they said of stress ( spasmafolia) i hope , finaly to be helped good..i wil know after reasearch...my sister( motherside) is 5years younger, has already 10 years PAN...so can it be genetic?
They used to diagnose people that way but not anymore. It's just a higher suspicion. They use the positive cANCA or pANCA to lead towards the biopsy. The biopsy will determine the Vascultiis itself and the type you have. I have always tested negative for the ANCA, told that I don't have Vasculitis at all... that delayed the process for almost a year. Then with sudden kidney decline, they desperately did the biopsy and it confirmed that I had GPA/Wegener's Vasculitis even with a negative ANCA test. It's a tricky disease!
