The Wonderful Plastic Mermaids performing their epic track "Saturn" featuring Rhian Teasdale on vocals. Recorded for Sofar, London in 2016.

I suspected that she was classically trained but she disguises it so well that I wasn't sure. She never sings flat or sharp and she uses sound breathing and sibilance techniques in Wet Leg. But this here is pure technique and power straight out of music school and confrims it. Wow.

I'm shook!!! 😮 Obviously Rhian is a fantastic rock singer, but I had NO idea she was trained to this degree! Super pleasant surprise. What a ludicrous talent she is!!!

Rhian is a f*cking badass boss with some crazy pipes and a refreshing uniqueness about her that is oh so charming. She's the coolest right? First discovered her through Wet Leg, but had no idea of her wide vocal range. Her voice here made me tear up and the instrumentals are just beautiful. A fun rendition and bright way to incorporate that style of singing with the instrumental accompaniment. Since discovering this video a week ago, I have watched it numerous times on repeat (I've even replayed right after I've just watched it) :X

The song is on Plastic Mermaids' second EP (Inhale the Universe). Amazing record, but Saturn there doesn't have the operatic vocals - those sections are played by strings. Ain’t she got a right bit gob on her! All of that bike and bitterness in the lyrics of some of the songs on the Wet Leg album are directed at the chap on the keyboard next to her. Some people break up and move on. Some don’t.
