God has blessed Rhiannon with such a beautiful and haunting voice. When I saw her in concert a while back, she made a little joke about a comment she received about a performance. The writer said she should have stuck with opera, I think what the author meant was that her voice was so beautiful the operatic world would have been blessed with her talent. I think we are all blessed by her desire to keep historical music alive and vital for new generations. Thank you Rhiannon for sharing your soul with us through your music!

Brilliant. solemn and spare as appropriate on the music. The watercolors on the crankie are incredible. The trailing of the ravens or crows (I am not sure which without another viewing) at the end is a nice touch.

Mavis Staples, in this song, sounds much more like she is actually at death's door. Rhiannon is too full of life to fully convey the tragic feeling of this lament. But it is a fabulous musical performance, with her doing her own backup vocals, and I love it as it is.
