I`m very impressed with Rhino, it's very underrated. Rhino is perfect for me. It's so much like AutoCAD in many ways. It's like AutoCAD crossed with 3DS Max or Maya.
@@Rhinoceros3d Exactly what I`m saying sir. Rhino has blown me away. The workflow transition from AutoCAD to Rhino is a lot easier. They make more sense to me in the thinking. I find 3DS Max, Maya etc all too inaccurate and fiddly, too much eyeballing etc. I`m used to precision. Rhino is the perfect combination for me. Wish I found it earlier. I`m going to learn it now. Awesome channel by the way. I do like Solidworks but again different approach.
Larger scenes particularly building interiors were still very dificult to handle in Rhinov6. It would be nice if you could do a tutorial on setting up the lighting of an interior scene. I have tried Rhinov7 with a house project but I still find it difficult to handle the mixing of sun / skylight with interior artificial light. Plus, rendering still takes a lot of time in these scenes. With the model I used (36mb) it took about 36min for 500 pass render with a Radeon Vega64. Another important thing in architecture modelling is the method used to apply materials to objects. I noticed that there is a way to apply materials to subsurfaces but do these techniques work with blocks? Currently, I apply materials to the linked block in the original file by object.
We'll need to get someone with arch viz experience involved in that video- my whole career has been product design, so I'm the wrong tool for that job.

Gems need light and environment to really come alive. Most jewelry images have lots of small lights. You also may want to check out custom hdri backgrounds for jewelry to get that “sparkle”
Great video. I've been using R7 for a month now and for some reason, the CPU is being used instead of my GPU (Nvidia GTX 1660 super). How can I get Rhino to use the GPU instead? Cheers!
Cool, but on the Rhino web-site I read that there's a PBR render and shading... here I can't see anything like PBR materials but still an old system with glossiness and reflectivity instead of albedo, roughness, sub-surface scattering, nothing about normal maps... It's McNeel trying to lie to people who don't know anything about PBR rendering? Rhino is still using Blender Cycles as a render engine, but I cant see Cycles nodes that are so powerful: Rhino has Grasshopper that use nodes, try to integrate that with Cycles, there's already a plug-in that try to do it, but it's pretty unstable.
We can import and creat pbr materials from any current source, substance, website, etc Sbsar support and shading nodes are features we have yet to implement. However even the default materials are converted to pbr in the background. No lies anywhere, that’s not how we roll. Additional pbr features to come as our version of cycles develops as our users see fit. If you have strong opinions, please hit our forum and make them known so we can start making feature requests for future releases.
@@Rhinoceros3d About "lying", it was just an euphemism. I know how do you work and I love Rhino and I have been using this software for almost 12 years. I just want this software to become better and better, and I feel a little bit sad when I see that it doesn't grow on things where other softwares grow (shading in this case). About .sbsar, it'd be a great update! I hope that we can have soon the update where we can use Albedo Maps, Roughness Maps, SSS Maps, Normal Maps...
Render engines are like paintbrushes. They all have different effects and are deeply personal. The best I can say is demo them both and see which one you prefer.
Hi m personally a fan of rhino render. But render engines are like paint brushes. Each one has a slightly different look. Try a few and see which one fits your style!

@@Rhinoceros3d if possible I would want to use the cycles engine within blender. It seems to work faster and giving the user variety of options when it comes to rendering. On top of that, if there is a need for part of the project to be modeled as mesh, it can be utilized that way as well.

I’m on a water cooled i9 processor with 32gb of ram and a Nvidia quadro rtx 5000 video card. It renders really nicely on that card. Rhino is not super picky about the processor, but the graphics card should have as much vram and cuss cores as you can afford as the rendering all happens on the gpu.
Rhino render is gpu enabled, so the more cuda cores and the more vram you have, the faster it’ll run. You can render to the same quality on any card or even your cpu, it’ll just take longer.
Are you using substance materials? They can be huge. 1gb is easy to hit if you aren’t careful and embed them. Send us your file to debug at tech@ncneel.com Also run the systeminfo command in. Rhino and include the report it generated.
Too fast. I would like the information flow to be a little slower, especially around the 15 minute mark. He goes so fast through several features I have to watch it 4 or 5 times to catch it all.
if I have several hours to present, I can slow down, for these videos I cram in a a lot in an hour or so. Personally I'd rather jam in a lot of info and have it presented in a medium that is friendly to pause and rewind, than leave info out.
@@Rhinoceros3d Sorry, for this, but all I stated that you need an "Overpowered" (OP) system to generate raytraced renders in seconds. I am just a student, so, maybe I will be able to afford one in the future. The specifications you said in the video felt like "overpowered" to me.
@@aamlansaswat my system is an intel i9 with 32gb Ram and a quadro rtx 5000. If you build it yourself you can get into that for a decent price. My best advice for anyone getting onto commercial art- Don’t cut costs on computers, accountants or lawyers, you get what you pay for. I spend money on computers like my career depends on it.
